As for check-in, you can pre-register at the front desk as soon as you arrive and get your tickets immediately, even in the morning. I believe they can text you when your room is ready. Also, depending on when you get there and how full they were the previous night, they may be able to give you your room right away if they have one ready. I arrived at 11:00 AM Thursday and was able to check-in and take my stuff up to my room right away. As for rain, TTD will of course shut down in even the slightest sprinkle. Millie and Gatekeeper will run two trains instead of three in the rain. Maverick, I believe, runs four trains instead of six in the rain. Don't know about any of the others.

The email from Don has been sent out. Most important thing from the email: As tempting as it may be to stick them in the air, KEEP YOUR HANDS DOWN for the first 45 minutes on Diamondback and the first 30 minutes on The Racer. Otherwise you may be asked to sit out until those times are over. This is to allow for publicity photos/video. Got it?

Ryan, the most accurate count can be had by calling your friends at the park and asking them how many tickets were sold. Just sayin'. (Though this thread is helpful for the rest of us. )

Great report and photos! The ones that were on the Super Vivid setting look really nice. I also like the one looking straight down at the Eiffel Tower's base; very interesting shot!

Not to mention that wooden coasters are significantly cheaper than steel coasters of a similar scale.

Thank you for that link. I have added it to my library of facepalms.

Well, in what areas are you looking for advice? What to pack, a plan for the day, what not to miss, where to eat, which Dippin' Dots guy knows the most about Project 2014?

I believe the old cinema lot/building is now home to a church, thus no longer vacant.

Dorney Park....Wallet Free
jcgoble3 replied to TheBEASTunchained's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
They still have it. I've used HoliCash every time I've been to HW. Great way to not have to deal with cash and change. The wristbands, which I used in 2011 and 2012, are waterproof paper, and refundable up to $50. You can also load money onto a gift card, or directly onto a season pass (neither of which are refundable at all). I'm using my season pass for HoliCash this year, since that reminds me to show it for the 10% food/merchandise discount. -
Nothing like a good storm to clear out the park. Thanks for the great report as always!

Dorney Park....Wallet Free
jcgoble3 replied to TheBEASTunchained's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
How do you get $10? I calculate $7.59 for the burrito + $4.19 for a Freestyle drink* = $11.78 + $0.77 sales tax = $12.55. *Might be $4.29; I don't recall at the moment. -
Embedding youtube videos?
jcgoble3 replied to BeastForever's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
It used to not detect them, but it does now. The video embedded below was created with a copy/pasted youtu.be link: -
A wild Terpy TR appears. Glad to hear you had no problems with your Platinum Pass. Perhaps we might run into each other at CP. Then again, I've never seen your face, so I wouldn't recognize you, but you've probably seen me in various group photos on here, and I'll be wearing my KIC shirt either Thursday or Friday.

Thanks for the report! The new individually themed wait time signs have been up since opening day. The only ride that still has the old generic sign, AFAIK, is Diamondback.

Ed Alonzo (last year, haven't seen this year's show yet) and American Country. Keep in mind that I only have three years of shows (2010–2012) to work with here.

How can a roller coaster be rude?

Here's a permanent link to the Screamscape speculation that will survive if Lance takes it down: http://www.webcitation.org/6H6gtUc4q

Zoom Flume is 1,200 pounds and Mondo Monsoon is 700 pounds. I don't know about whether any others have a weight restriction.

HW has definitely lost some of its charm with the effective loss of Pat and Dan, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying the place since, as I said, it doesn't seem to have spilled over into other areas. I'll be at CoasterMania as well, so if we find each other, I'd be happy to talk about it. Other notes: The bag checks were very quick and easy, and they weren't looking too closely. I just unzipped my fanny pack and held it open, and they just glanced inside and waved me on. They didn't require me to take it off, nor did they hold it open themselves to poke around inside. So very easy to deal with. I did notice today that they do seem to run single-train operation on the coasters now when the crowds are very light. Even with single-train operation, the place was so dead yesterday that I did a 30-minute marathon on Raven in the middle of the afternoon on a Saturday without getting off. Legend and Voyage were station waits all day. They were nice enough to put the second train on all of them for ERT both nights, as well as on the Voyage during the walkback. Speaking of the walkback, there was no Raven/Legend walkback this year, but the Voyage one was expanded to go around and into the spaghetti bowl, where they had a tent set up with free snacks (cookies, pita chips, apples, caramel dip, milk, water, and Gatorade). They also did a "guess the part" game, where volunteers were blindfolded and reached into a bucket full of coaster parts, pulled one out, and had to identify it from feel alone. The two fastest times won a piece of wood from one of the coasters with a photo printed on the wood.

Update from HoliWood Nights: As expected, Dan was nowhere to be seen. Neither was Pat. Paula Werne handled the main duties of going over the schedule with everyone, etc. before the event started. I noticed that the opening meeting seemed to put a lot of emphasis on Lori's kids; they had William give the Timberliners update (he has ridden them and loves them, and says they "should be ready next year"), and Lauren (?) gave some talk about how her and each of here siblings have a "sister coaster" in the park that most resembles them. Leah is studying abroad in Austria and isn't here. (Not sure I got the names right there.) I did not see any ill effects on service or park operations that would appear to be a result of the family feud. Hopefully it will continue that way until the legal mess is properly resolved, hopefully with Dan back in control. One of the silent auction items tonight will be a plaque with a piece of track from the Freedom Train and a photo of the train from its earliest days. Will be interesting to see how much that goes for. Anyway, I have to get ready for morning ERT, so I'm outta here.

The longer we go without official comment from Hart, the less optimistic I am. Dun DUN dun de-de-Dun DUN Dun-un...
