  1. I just saw a report from a friend on Facebook that there is already a line equivalent to a one-hour wait for Gatekeeper at the front gate of Cedar Point.
  2. What a wonderful report thus far! I can't wait to see the rest! I'm wondering the same thing myself.
  3. Of course they're rigged. Example: The basketball shooting game that sets up at my county fair every year has multiple signs posted stating "NON-REGULATION RIMS" and "13-INCH RIMS". Granted, most games aren't that upfront about it (I suspect that one is only because of some rule set by the Fair Board that I'm not aware of), but if you know what to look for you can probably figure out how many of them are rigged.
  4. I have however, will use a credit card to gain bonus points (pay off right away) or use to break a payment down for a few months, to not destroy savings on big item purchases (lawn mower, washer/dryer, mattress.) 12 months/same as cash helps keep the savings from dropping too low. Plus credit scores are built by responsible credit card use. Fair point (especially since I recently purchased a $1,000 laptop on a Best Buy credit card with an 18 months same as cash plan), so let me amend my statement: Or just don't charge anything to your credit card that you can't afford to pay off in full the next month or can't comfortably form a budget that will allow you to pay it off in a reasonable amount of time without affecting your ability to pay for necessities like groceries and bills in the first place, like I do. In other words, don't buy what you can't afford.

  6. Nice report. Glad to hear you had fun!
  7. Please read the Terms of Service: Posts like yours without any attempt at proper capitalization and very little punctuation are nearly impossible to read. The TOS requires that you use proper spelling, capitalization, and punctuation for that very reason. Please do so.
  8. The only benefits on that list that I might actually use are ERT, the souvenir bottle discount (once), and possibly the fudge discount (also probably once). A flat park-wide discount would be much easier to understand and probably more likely to get people to spend money in the park on food and merchandise. Instead, they do this crap where for the most part you get no discounts at all unless you blow money on extras to begin with or have a large group. Way to make us passholders feel valued. Firefox actually gives me a bad security certificate error and won't let me go through to the site to see where it goes.
  9. I went in around 12:30 on Friday by myself. No wait for a table at all. Service was great, except that it took a while to get my food. The pulled pork sandwich was excellent, but not very big for the price. The sides were bigger than the sandwich. The cheesecake was meh; I can get far better cheesecake at the nearby Outback Steakhouse for a lower price. I'll go there again, but will order something different next time.
  10. I'm sorry, but if you're 30 years old and your total life savings is only $2,600, then I highly doubt that your financial situation is such that you should be wasting money on carnival games in the first place.
  11. I was intending to purchase a HW season pass for the first time this year and make three multi-day trips there (Holiwood Nights, a trip in July, and Halloween Weekends). I'm committed to the season pass now, since I've already purchased my HWN ticket at the season pass rate, but I'm wondering if I'm going to regret it.
  12. No, it doesn't. I'm interested to hear an explanation, though.
  13. I almost never drink bottled water. The only times I do are when it's offered to me for free (e.g. after a 5K race), there's no water fountains or other free water sources available, or when traveling (particularly camping or a long road trip). For the latter, I buy a large case of water, like the 28-pack of 500mL bottles I bought today at Walmart for $3.48 (approx. 12.4 cents per bottle). This gives me something to drink at my campsite or while on the road*, as well as something to take my nightly medication with. *Always when stopped at a rest area. Don't drink while you're driving, even when the drink is non-alcoholic; distracted driving is as dangerous as drunk driving.
  14. I voted B&M, steel, inverted, and yes. ...and I'm surprised to be the first person to vote for an invert.
  15. According to Mondial's website, Wind Seeker (yes, the model name has a space, unlike the ride names) is offered with heights of 65 and 100 meters. The 65 meter height is obviously still theoretical, but 100 meters converts to 328 feet, which makes it plausible that the tower is actually 328 feet tall, and 301 feet is the height to which riders are taken.
  16. Gross revenue? Yes. Net revenue? With the cost of maintenance, tires, and especially gas these days, that's the better question.
  17. There's no difference in how high it goes. I looked at the tower while riding yesterday and saw the exact same amount of light blue below the ride unit that I remember seeing in the past. The gap between the ride unit and the top of the tower has always been there; it's never gone all the way to the very top of the tower.
  18. I used the new re-entry policy today without any problems. Went out to the car to reapply sunscreen, came back, and the pass scanned again with no problem. As for the "Terpy treatment", I've only ever used my platinum pass at one other park: Cedar Point, during the week I spent there in 2011. I had no problems then; it scanned once at the parking toll booth, once at the Hotel Breakers check-in desk, five times on five days at CP entry gates, once at the Soak City entry gate, and twice at the Skyscraper ticket booth, all without a hitch. We'll see if I run into any problems next month when I do CoasterMania.
  19. https://www.facebook.com/groups/325861871036/permalink/10151547630886037/ I don't like this....
  20. I saw the movie today, and it was the exact same movie they've had for the past two years. Why they're charging for it again, I haven't the slightest clue. As for the unlimited DA!, I bought it today. It is indeed just $12. You have to go to Guest Relations at the front gate to buy it; the Dino Store can't sell it to you. They will apply a sticker with a barcode to the back of your season pass; that sticker is your DA! pass. And if you buy a regular DA! ticket, you can show that ticket at GR (presumably same day only; I didn't ask) and apply the cost of the ticket toward the cost of the season pass sticker, like I did.
  21. Another confirmation that WindSeeker is up and running. I rode it this morning.
  22. Lake Rudolph is not expensive if you're willing to rough it a little bit. You can pitch a tent there for around $40/night.
  23. That's interesting. Would it be safe to assume that you don't particularly care for Invertigo? Or am I reading between the lines too much?
