  1. And if you want funky smells, I know that as of 2013, you could experience plenty on Congo Falls. Can't speak for 2014, as I did not ride it a single time last year.
  2. Or, if you're willing to deal with some... turbulence... row 3 of car 1 is magical. Painful at times, but the airtime is unreal. Same applies for Maggie at Cedar Point.
  3. ^ Bingo. If the time windows had been there from the get-go, I would have just happily renewed my pass and not gotten the dining plan. No harm, no foul, and still a bargain for those who do like it. But selling the dining plan under one set of assumptions, and changing them to something more restricted, that's the issue. I don't personally care if they keep it like it is or change it for 2016, but whatever they do, I just hope they don't change it after people have bought them. I'll either buy it if it looks like a good value for me, or pass on it if it doesn't and either way will be fine for me.
  4. I rest my case. Now,to be fair, your own personal definition of "food" would make this subject to debate. It's the junkiest of junk foods, but it's SO GOOD. (Link to the pic: http://www.womansday.com/cm/womansday/images/9n/09-wd0809-Deep-Fried-Cheese-2.jpg ). Found via Google Images.
  5. We all know that park and Cedar Fair officials read this site. One has to wonder if we had something to do with the change of heart. Or if it was never the intention at all and was posted in error.
  6. I would even understand it if the new system were that you get one meal during the first half of the operating day (so between 10 and 4 on a normal 10 AM to 10 PM operating day) and one during the second half (4 to 10). No gaps, no forcing passholders to get their food (which will then technically be costing the park money since it's all paid up in advance) and slow the lines during peak hours, and you prevent people like me from showing up at 5:30 and getting two meals. That still wouldn't be ideal for me personally, but it would make a whole lot more sense. Now, that said, SIX has the time windows when the dining plan can be used (or they did at SFGAm this year. I assume it works the same at each park). Their system isn't so different from what is going to be put in place at FUN parks now. Except of course for the important fact that once they sold the plan to the customers, it didn't change.
  7. I liked the Pete Rose commercial. But I'm told that one had already aired and wasn't exclusively a Super Bowl commercial. Shows how often I watch TV.
  8. I'm with Shark. I would not likely have purchased it given those conditions. Will I use it? Probably. Will I be able to use it the way I had anticipated when I bought it? Unlikely. On a typical weekday, I'll get to the park at about 5:30, just after work. I'll eat as soon as I get there and then again one more time later in the day. Even with a four hour window, this was possible (well, not in Festhaus, but I digress...) So now, I paid a higher price than last year for something with effectively half the value. My jimmies are rustled. I'm not going to make a big fuss about it, but it is certainly frustrating that I bought it under a set of assumptions that are no longer valid. And if they don't change it back to a system similar to what we were expecting it to be this season, the odds that I'd buy again in 2016 are very slim, indeed. I ate sandwiches in my car when I visited Kings Island for years. I'm willing to do it again.
  9. If you happen to know the answer, how would the use of Tapatalk affect the numbers from Adsense and Analytics? Would a page view be counted at all? On another somewhat unrelated question, did KIC get a new favicon, or have I just literally never noticed that we have one? It seems like I recall the site always using the InvisionPower logo, but now there seems to be a neat little blue logo that says "KI". Not that it matters much, I'm sure the number of people who notice the favicon on any given site is pretty close to zero.
  10. I would have considered getting it, but I don't think I can really justify having TWO 1972 maps
  11. I have very poor self-control, and it is quite dangerous to me that these were posted on my payday...
  12. My genre of choice has always been, and will probably always be classic rock. My earliest musical memory was the Elvis animatronic at Jungle Jim's. That antiquated old robot introduced me to Elvis's music, and my taste basically started there and moved outward. I collect vinyl and while my love is more for the format than the content, I'm naturally going to be inclined toward the music that is most readily and affordably available on that format, and that also pushes me toward classic rock. Growing up, my family listened almost exclusively to Country radio stations, so while I don't listen to much new country, country from the 90's and 00's fills a big chunk of my iPod (which I also still use religiously because while I have an unlimited data plan on my smartphone, all of the popular streaming services use really nasty compression that makes music sound like garbage. But I digress). It's easier to count the genres that I don't like than the ones I do. Generally. I'm not a fan of rap/hip-hop/whatever they're calling it this week. There are some songs in that genre that I enjoy, but they're few and far between. I'm definitely not a fan of electronic music (techno, dubstep, and other such things). I'm not going to say that there's NOTHING in that genre that I'd enjoy, but if it's out there, I've yet to find it. And I don't typically like any modern pop. So basically, I shy away from Top 40 stations. Most things that are a little more obscure, I like. I really don't even think it's necessarily that I think modern, popular music is bad. It's just that, being popular, Top 40 singles get a lot of airplay and I get sick of hearing them almost immediately. I've been on a big alternative kick lately, so a lot of Paramore, Evanescence, Flyleaf, Fireflight, Skillet, etc. Prior to that, I was on a big Muse kick, thanks in part to Ed Alonzo. I also really like orchestrated music, especially film, TV, and video game scores. Just as long as it's not Pachelbel's Canon. I played Tuba in High School band, and as such, I'd be more than content to never hear that wretched tune again as long as I live.
  13. Which, if it were ANYONE else, would probably be OK... But given their history of blunders on social media, that seems like a truly awful idea...
  14. That's that promise they made on Facebook that they'd always stick to the posted hours coming back to bite them.
  15. The park has added an operating schedule to their website. http://www.kentuckykingdom.com/park-info/calendar/ What I find intriguing is that on their "opening day", the park is closed for a private event. Which is fine. But unless there's some legal reason why they would need to disclose that, I'm not sure I get why they'd even put that on the calendar at all... It just invites comments on social networking sites complaining about the park being closed, just like what happens to Kings Island every year when they close for a day during one of the first weekends of the year. It seems to me that the better approach would be to just pretend nothing is happening at all that day. On a lighter note, we're all 87 days away from being struck with Terror to the third power after experiencing The Runs! I'll be interested in seeing how many times I feel inclined to go to KK this year considering that I'll be able to ride a set of Larson Scooters without making the two hour drive...
  16. And another interesting question - Does one season pass holder who visits three times count as three visitors or one? Because I would imagine that local season passholders would be using their pass a lot more often than those from other areas.
  17. Do they require any formal education in writing/journalism/whatever? I think that's something I could do decently, but the extent of my formal education in this sort of thing is that I had an English minor in college.
  18. So THAT'S why the back seat is closed off! I must admit, the pop of air on the first drop of Big Dipper is incredibly thrilling and - if you aren't expecting it - somewhat frightening (but in a good way). Even in the rearmost seat that they do operate. For what it's worth, I once emailed RCDB about The Devil's Den and Camden's Haunted House not being listed when, by all definitions, they do all of the things a coaster is supposed to do and asked why they don't list them. I never got a reply...
  19. I can agree with this. As I see it, there's one perk to Subway being there, and that is that you can smell it when they are baking their bread from the Red Racer station, and I enjoy the smell of bread being baked. Can't say I've had Subway at the park in, well, ever. Assuming it's the same quality as Subway outside the park, it's decent food, but I'm not going to pay that when I can get much larger portions for the same money at nearly any other food location.
  20. Of the Cedar Fair B&M Hypers, Behemoth is probably my favorite. Those helices after the MCBR are awesome. As long as Leviathan is being considered a Giga and not a hyper. B&M refers to it as a hypercoaster, so if we're going by that, then it's my favorite.
  21. And Behemoth has the staggered ones as well. Leviathan does not. Another perk to the four-across is that, if desired, it is possible to have more than eight cars. Raging Bull (which on an unrelated note is far and away my favorite B&M Hyper that I've ridden) has nine rows. Yeah, this is probably possible with the staggered seats too. But each additional four seats increases train length twice as much as with the four-across. And that extra car equates to a theoretical 12.5% increase in capacity. I say theoretical of course because it isn't quite a straight comparison. That is also one more row to check, which means that with the same number of seat checkers, dispatch time will increase accordingly. That isn't the only place RCDB makes that mistake. See also: http://rcdb.com/4253.htm and http://rcdb.com/4005.htm No such mistake on the page for Shambhala, but they also don't mention the trains at all for that coaster. So it also goes to show that RCDB isn't accurate. And after visiting Camden Park, there are other reasons I don't find them accurate, too.
  22. I'll likely be there for preview day, whenever that may be. Opening day... eh... After last season, I think I'm good. Might go early and get a couple rounds in on Vortex while the bulk of the crowd heads straight for Beast, Banshee, and Diamondback.
  23. I'm not sure if it's the electronic maps or the paper ones. Traditionally, the paper maps have been referred to as the "Park Guide" so it would be in line with what we've seen in the past if that's what he was referring to. Then again, there's no reason the electronic ones couldn't be referred to as a "Park Guide" so, it could certainly be that as well. I would guess that the changes are not with the actual map itself. I think those are made by a third party or by designers working for Cedar Fair rather than the park, since all the Cedar Fair parks share a common style map. But they could certainly add some descriptive text to the guide portion of the park guide. For example, directions relative to major attractions that are easier to find. Something along the lines of, "Subway locations can be found in Coney Mall to the right of The Racer's entrance, or in Soak City near the Tropical Twister" might be more helpful than just numbers on a map. Then, if you know where Racer is, there is no need to search the map for Subway. I feel like there's a third Subway in the park that I'm forgetting...
