  1. I love the pictures of Coney Mall, can I ask at what point in our lives did it become acceptable to littler and destroy the surroundings? I see it all the time everywhere not just KI, for example a mother changing the diaper of her kid in the parking lot and throwing the dirty one on the ground. Does anyone understand that one every piece of trash requires a paid person to clean it up, and also we all get to see the whole place turned into a concrete jungle. I loved the water around The Beast and the flowers everywhere, I would stand up and tell someone not to littler but in today's climate not only would I get beat up I would then get sued for infringing on someones Civil Liberties. Crazy isn't it?
  2. May I please put this out there before some other SOB die hard see something they do not understand. Just remember that SOB will not open this year, but as you drive by and you see guys on SOB walking the track etc. They still have a maintenance schedule that has to be followed, even when a ride is not functioning, they still have to maintain a secure structure and sometimes looks. So if a beam or piece of wood is in need of attention KI may still have to give it attention to ensure park safety and structural integrity. So again before someone says, " hey everybody they are working on SOB and its getting the TREATMENT." Not so fast, state only what you know not what you think when giving the news on SOB. Thanks
  3. TopGun1993 what is this most recent picture? Is it from the Crypt before or is this new theme stuff to be used in 2011?
  4. TopGun1993, Great picture kinda looks like a short version of WindSeeker though WS does not have rotating cars. Very cool angle.
  5. Hey guys I am sure this isn't the place to ask this question but I was hoping someone could tell me. Where did the loop for SOB get taken? Is it one of the items laying in the field out in the woods at KI? Just wondering. Thanks
  6. My guess it is an extension of the restrooms to prevent lines from having a direct view into the stalls. No peek a boo stuff ya know.
  7. I want to point out something that has been referenced before but add my 2 cents. Having a trail of some kind themed with dinos etc. I like that idea simply because it could allow hundreds of people to do something else while reducing the lines for other rides. The key to this for me is that KI can have a new area that is somewhat self supporting, less staff to handle lots of people. Just a thought.
  8. No, review the clip again. I think the concrete being poured is in front of Action Theater not in back. That may be to form que lines. I see the spot between The Racers where they should park the crane and the WS pieces. But if you look at the aerial shots you can see that the que for AT is small so I am sure they are increasing it for re-directing traffic or for WS que. Hey Thats kinda interesting... What is that crane popping up and down back there? Then again, That looks like its coming up from back by action theater.. Not to the left of Racer like the Magic red line states.. Hmmm... Its one of those trucks for putting in cement foundations. ...Which could be pouring a path or pad for the crane to assemble WindSeeker. My suspicion is that they will truck WindSeeker peices around the back road to the area right behind Action Theatre (The theatre sits high above a maintenance road that runs next to it and next to Beast. The crane will likely be placed inside The Racer split and will lift the peices from the access road, past South Racer turnaround and onto the site. Shaggy

  10. Do you think this is the official restructuring of the company or the selling? Could the new owner be the big 3-18-11 news?
  11. has anyone given it any thought that the web cam is not live, tape delay? Has anyone driven by lately to see if the parts are moved? I mean do you think they really let us see everything? Could they really afford for an accidental view of our BIG Secret? just saying
  12. Indy Guy, I am dying here. Just the thought of a guy spilling out the pieces to WS (like building a model car back in the day) Huhhhhh which part goes where, and how much can I build without the instructions. I would like to know how profitable KI was last year as it compares to other parks CF owns including Cedar Point. That will tell the tale on who gets capital expenditures. I saw on a previous post that someone indicated that when a park gets a coaster they tend to sign on for more than one, so does anyone know what the DB contract said? Kings Island and this site have been running my day as of late so please make the announcement already.
  13. could the dots be supports for a coaster?
  14. Benread23, Not only do I agree with your view on SOB rehab. I also agree with previous post about SOB layout being boring, I think that if you see aerial shots of SOB then I could see how they could lengthen the coaster and wrap near the proposed new park area. A longer ride with maybe even a 400* second or third drop existing of a steel dino like skeleton. Not only a wood steel hybrid but a steel portion to include a loop and tight turns then back to the wood portion. Evolution ..... Son of Beast is growing up.
  15. Could it be a version of the Gondola Baskets that used to fly about I street, maybe now it could be Soaring Eagle Zip Lines. Look it up online, easy to put together and though it doesn't fit the red outline maybe it could be part of the Expansion. The zip lines could be fast, cheap, and easy to install for flying over some themed area of dinos.
  16. Could it be a variety of things, SOB, walk through (hope not), but could it be.................... wait for it ........................ The King Cobra? I was watching The Beast car being worked on and in the background I thought a few parts looked similar to the cobra train in storage at FOF. Talk about a makeover that would be easy and the thought of CF having components that could be modified to make the COBRA track handle a different car setup. The PAST, everyone liked it but had issues, maybe they found a new fix. Whatever happens I just hope putting something to mellow in that area would be WEAK.
  17. Lighting would truly be a welcome sight. I find it difficult late at night navigating through the park and not running into anyone. The area around the Stunt Coaster and the Bathrooms is like feeling your way through, and don't get me started on the smoking. I know lighting doesn't make money but if we are not theme-ing the park like we used to, then LED with varying lights could change according to the night. Thank you
  18. Kentucky Kingdom, why not just part ways with the fair grounds and move to the area near the Mall at I64 and I264. Yes I know no money for that but to lease land and have the state bail you out and try to bankroll your ideas with tax dollars is a tough pill to swallow. I can see a location change and a total redesign would be great if your going to ask for tax money go for the whole bank. Or just maybe you (Ed) could combine your efforts with the ARK park and spend our money in one place and do it big.

    Planning?

I was reading over a report on Cheetah Hunt, the track on this coaster look like they could support the angles seen on our KI Planning sheet. Not sure but the s bends and so forth could represent quick turns and angles. The crazy straights could be elevation or even speed additions like the forced system on FOF. ???? Not sure but might be cool.
  20. That would be great, lets do that on opening day. No hard feelings I just get bummed easily, bring the news and the fun.
  21. This topic is done as we all know, but maybe we can have a topic on who here thinks they know it all and feel good about smashing everyone else who writes something. I mean really Browntggrr, I read all kinds of remarks and comments and enjoy them for what they are worth. Is it so necessary to play king of the hill all the time, push those less informed down and laugh at their lack of knowledge? Last I saw this site has over 4000 people on it and all are as curious and giddy about getting the scoop or the inside goings on. That is why this exists, letting people share and have fun, just chill a bit why don't you. As for the topic itself, I have nothing to add and feel really comfortable that I will not sink while riding Vortex, so lets move on. Thanks guys and Terp this site gets me by when I can't be at KI. Thanks
  22. dr-humor and goodyellowkorn182, well said on both counts. I think it is not only worth saving it is almost certainly the smart move. Imagine a whole year 2011 work being done on the ride as well as a PR campaign showing SOB being taken over by a metal monster from a planet far away. We have the theme started (and we know KI loves the space and monster named rides) then random things happening over the year to strike interest in whats happening. Maybe work tours and education tours on how things work, up close and personal. Now instead of a new ride coming and here you go, it would feel like it has matured under our nose. This would give the faithful KI supporters a feel of having the inside scoop while creating a buzz KI hasn't seen in years. (and before anyone says it, yes DB, Snoopy, etc. were a buzz but interactive is the key.) What do you think about that?

kjkjkj, I see what you are saying but I envision a similar routing like Action Zone. Enter into the area and all head toward the AT and disburse into varying lines from there. If AT is still in use then you may have three lines going on. Just hope for great signage. The aerial view of KI on GoogleEarth shows a bit of space on the other side of the bathrooms that could lead to staging. I hope not though, smell and noise. YUCK.
  24. Terp, I have been reading up on the Texas Giant remake. I have to guess that redoing SOB in that fashion would achieve two things for CF. A new ride at a lower price and two give people what they want. The second is less important since all we really want is MORE. I am sure the folks at KI are far smarter about these things than I am but if WindSeeker is costing 5million and other improvements at least another million. That is 6 million, diamond back was over 20 million so i would love to see a 10 million dollar redo of SOB and a few million in the park for looks, access, and theme. Just my two cents. Thanks

Speaking of the que for WindSeeker, do you think they might use the action theater staging area for both Vortexs and WindSeeker? Traffic goes back to AT then turn back toward the rides. AT may not have a future and I can see them using it for storage or future development. This would also reduce the congestion on the mall from Vortex. No matter what they do, I am ready to ride and can't wait to get there.
