I rode KCKC several several times. It was a nice ride to relax on but not really to cool off on. You never got more then just a few drops of water on you. I also the remember the water being nasty, they use to be foam that would form in the water in the station, yuck. Also the slang name of the ride was Flop LOL.

Wow what days are you going on? I have been on Several Friday's and Several Wednesday's and nothing was ever that bad. A few times during the weekends in the Pre-Season the park has been busy, and the Saturday of the KIC event it was busy, but nothing like it used to be. The park was DEAD today. I couldn't believe it myself, with only another week left of Daily operation I thought it would have been more busy.

I rode SOB 3 times today, twice in the blue train in 1-1 it was a decent ride. I also rode once in the red train in 6-1, about the same as 1-1. But SOB is no Thunderhead LOL

So today I went to KI for the 13th time of the season ouch lucky # 13. Here is the list of rides that I did today. Son of Beast x3, rode twice in the front 1-1 and once in the back 6-1 much better then my ride on 8/4/07. Top Gun, Short but sweet like always. Drop Zone x2, today Drop Zone was the non gyro drop. I hear lots of people joking about getting there feet cut off while getting on the ride. Some people have a sick sense of humor. Face/Off x2, Intense as always. Congo Falls, I got more wet on the drop today then I have in a long time. I noticed that one of the boats where already gone from the ride, and one was out of the water, they were only running 3 boats today. Delirium, still love this ride, definity my favorite non coaster ride. Adventure Express x2, Same ol Express here. Racer Backwards x4, love the backwards far more then the forwards, it's still running well to me. Racer Forwards x2, Forwards needs some TLC hopefully this winter it will receive some. Flight of Fear , A great coaster, but they seem to have issues with the videos from time to time, our train's video's didn't work for some reason. Firehawk, I got expressed to the station when I still had 2 more ques to go through, way to go Firehawk crew. Vortex x3, The crew still needs work. Stacking almost every train. What is even the point of running 3 trains??? The brakes that stop you after the final helix hurt like heck. The Beast x2, rode once during the day and once at night. Okay here are a few negatives from today. Now I may just have been spoiled by just spending 3 days at Dollywood this past Monday through Wednesday, but KI really needs to step up a little. But I went over to the ice cream stand in nick u, and they were just 2 employees standing and talking to each other, while the other employee was taking orders. What really made me mad was, finally after about 5 minutes they asked someone behind me in line if they could help them. I was like okay, I was standing here longer then them, why didn't you ask me if I needed any help. Then he goes and tells me that I could have asked him to help me. I said that's your job to service the Guest, that's why your behind the counter. You get paid to help us, not to talk. He was arguing with me as well. Some of these employees especially in Food need to learn how to treat Guests, and not argue back at them. I swear the service at KI has gone way way down. Of course what can you expect when they are a bunch of 16 or 17 year olds. Both of the employees had a blue on there name tag, which I was told means they are under 18. The other issue I had as I was the last train on The Beast for the evening, the guy checking bars, was going so fast, that he actually missed my bar, he didn't check it. It may have looked like he did from the drive booth, but he didn't even touch my bar what so ever. So the driver was telling me he did check it, that's not something I would lie about. So the guy did come back and check my bar, but actually touching it. So I don't know why I felt this way about KI today, but I was actually unhappy how things were going. Also when I first tried to ride SOB for the 3rd time tonight, they shut it down, and they said it was going to be closed for a long delay, the operator was telling people 1 1/2 hours. So everyone else left, so I did as well. Can you believe that after I went and rode AE and Backwards Racer it was reopened. So it was only closed for about 20 minutes. I would have waited that one out. When I worked at the park were never ever gave a time a ride could reopen or be down for. So I rode a lot of rides today yes, but I think the employees are getting sick of there jobs for the year already, or KI needs to retrain everyone, that they can either make someone have a good day or a bad day, it takes just one person doing something they shouldn't be.
-
Both of those rides have been changed several times in last 7 years. Racer and AE used to have a 42 inch height requirement, then went to 44 and now they are at 48 inches.
-
Sweet, I like the first one, it's really kinda cool seeing how Racer really stuck out in that pic. Of course they were no Vortex, FoF, or The Beast back then. But that's a really a nice pic of Racer.

I sure hope it can be a yearly tradition for the members of KIC. It was a real fun time had for all.

Stricker's Grove Open to the Public Today
PKIVortex replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I've always wanted to check this park out, but can't do it today, as I'm leaving for Dollywood later on this afternoon. -
Actually it wasn't uncommon for the water park to be closed the final week of daily operation. Then the water park opened back up for labor day weekend. That last week of daily operation is though for the park to staff the main park not to mention the water park.

I agree and those were 2 of the best Beast rides I have ever had, not sure if it was because everyone who was on the train was a fan of KI or what?
-
Yeah I know and I completely understand that. But good job to Josh for giving us the scavenger hunt instead.
-
But Voyage and any coaster with a wooden track is considered a wooden coaster.
-
Exactly when will the park say enough is enough. We all know that the Maintenance cost on SOB is much higher then any other coaster in the park. I'm sure they sunk millions into SOB since it opened in 2000. I just really surprised they even built SOB with all of the troubles with other big wooden coaster. Mean Streak and The Rattler come to mind. Wasn't that Rattler also build and designed by RCCA? If that had problems with that, why did they think a 218 foot 78 MPH woody would be any different?
-
Which is the way it should be. It's suppose to be limited to the first 1500 gold pass holders in the park. If the same people keep going back and getting more, that's taking away from other gold pass holders.
-
Let's just hope it doesn't come to that this time. I do not want another accident on SOB or any ride at KI for that matter.
-
That's not saying much, sorry no offense.
-
I've had good and bad rides on SOB this season. But my last ride was probably the worst one this far even before the accident. The rose bowl is my opinion is the worse part of the entire ride, they are so much shaking going on through there it can't be good for the track. The only thing that kinda upset me was even after I complained of the severe roughness in the rose bowl last Saturday they did nothing to check it out. You'd think after what happened last year that they would have shut the ride down right then and had maintenance come out and check things out. My first ride on SOB for 2007 was on July 6th just 2 days after it reopened, I then felt it was better and much smoother. I will probably ride SOB again on the 17th when I go to the park again, but if it gives me the same feeling as it did back on the 4th then I'm done with SOB.
-
I had a horrible ride on SOB on the 4th, especially in the rose bowl.
-
I agree, and yes I did mean sway sorry. They need to redesign the rose bowl somehow, but I know that would cost money. Do they really need to dump more money into SOB?
-
I noticed something about SOB that I haven't noticed before I know it's normal but watch as the train leaves the lift and heads into the curve before the drop, the structure sways a lot, it almost looks as if it could buckle.
-
American Eagle at Six Flags Great America is an Intamin woody and it opened in 1981. Of course though they didn't build them like they do today.
-
I believe it ends on Labor Day. They will probably have shows in the Paramount Theater during the Fall Weekends.
-
Hahaha, yeah that would be funny.
