  1. When I was a little kid and finally tall enough to ride King Cobra. You know King Cobra really had no real height requirement, you just had to straddle the seat and have you feet flat on the floor. I believe though the height requirement was closer to 54 inches though. I chickened out on I waited in line got all the way to the station and was going to board the train, but turned around and left. I finally did get my first ride though several weeks later. I don't remember what year this was, probably sometime in 1988.
  2. Kinda hard to do backstage tours of the haunts in August. LOL sorry I had.
  3. It's not a simple rotating platform. The ride is a giant top spin. It uses powerful motors to lift the gondola and make it spin.
  4. Those prices are a steal. $19.95 for Friday evenings and $24.95 for all day Saturday admission including HH. Also for anyone who doesn't have a pass, or thinking of bringing non pass holders to KI one last time before HH, you can get into the park on Sunday September 23rd for only $19.95, that's the on-line price.
  5. I would like for there to be another KIC event, I voted for all 3 opitions. An event during HH would be cool cause we could behind the scenes of some of the haunts while they are closed during the day. Also a off season tour would be cool.
  6. It had trim brakes in 1979 as well. Lights what lights? Other then them forgetting to turn off some of the tunnel lights sometimes, it's been pretty dark when I rode at night.
  7. The whole smoking thing has been a problem at KI the last few years. I am a smoker but I have no problems using the designated areas. But what I see is the problem is, the people not using the areas will walk by employees of the park, and they won't say a word to them.
  8. King Cobra had most of it's problems though it the last few years it operated.
  9. And Kings Island yet again gets Best Kids Area. Also The Beast is the #8 wooden coaster.
  10. Any reason why it's parked in the park? Is that bus staying there?
  11. I love 7-1 that is my seat, I ride there all the time. Are you a short? What felt rough to you on Vortex?
  12. Ride in 7-1 on Vortex. 7th car 1st row. I assume you sat in 7-2 on Vortex very back seat? Try 7-1 next time.

    eek! Top gun!

I'm not sure if he was referring to the noise or that it sometimes slows down for a few seconds when it gets near the top. It does that for the reason the second train coming into the station hasn't cleared the block yet. So the train on the lift slows down so it won't have to stop. If the block doesn't clear the train would eventually stop.
  14. Well in recent years that the truth. But back in the late 80's and early 90's Vortex used to pull pretty long lines. Have course the park didn't have been coasters back then.
  15. I have also felt a difference with the red train versus the blue train, with the red train being a little smoother.
  16. Actually the park is open Sunday September 23rd from 10am till 8pm. Then HH begins September 29th from 7pm till 1am.
  17. That's a matter of opinion. I have rode SOB 13 times since it reopened this year. I had one ride where it shook me pretty bad, and I had some rides where it wasn't that bad. The rose bowl is still intense kinda shaky but I think that is just because of the speed in which you travel that section of track.
  18. Looking forward to another season. I probably won't apply this time though as I already played twice, I want to give others a chance to get in on the fun. But I will follow the game.
  19. Isn't It's Fried and Midway Treats and Eats the same place?
  20. That's exactly what happens to Vortex's line when the park is extremely busy. However when The Bat used that station they were que's under the station as well. I have seen The Vortex line down as far as Skyline on Coney Mall.
  21. Just because CW is getting a coaster in 2008 doesn't mean anything. Cedar Fair opened Maverick, Renegade and moved X-Flight to Kings Island in 2007. So it's still possible but I doubt we will get a coaster in 2008.
  22. BB is usually closed the last week of daily operation, usually because of staffing issues. But they did stay open last week BB from 12pm till 6 pm. BB is open today, tomorrow and Monday though as advertised all year.
  23. Cedar Points Platinum Pass is also 140 dollars. The normal park pass is 101.95 I believe and then once you add 50 dollars for parking it's more then a Platinum pass, which includes free parking. Whatever KI's prices are we don't know yet. I bet they are similar though to CP. I hope we offer the jackets as well, I want one.
