  1. What, aren't they putting them on Mount Flight Commander?
  2. Does anyone happen to have a park map on them that they can post an image of the new TRTR revelation. It's not that I don't believe it, I just can't wait until Saturday to look for myself. Plus, knowing how forgetful I am, I'll most likely just forget about it all together this weekend.
  3. Have Dracula at the entrance doors telling everyone to take a good look at him. He'll be the only Dracula they see for the evening. New thought: Advertise DHC as a Where's Waldo-kind of attraction. Object is simple: spot the vampire.
  4. Seriously, it can't be that hard to find a roller coaster, even if it is in pieces.
  5. Nope, I love it. It never gets boring for me.
  6. Spongebob? The monkey dance in Secrets of the Lost Temple! Now that was terrifying.
  7. BLASPHEMY! No really, it does have a few dull moments if you don't understand the incomprehensible story of the ride. The only reason I enjoy the ride as much as I do is because I made up my own story for the ride that seems to flow nicely with the action. I just wonder if the actual story of the ride will be enhanced with the new programming, or if the program will completely destroy any trace of a story element.
  8. Yes, I do. They had to plan everything beforehand. You can't just put all that together without a single idea of what it will look like before you build it. However, this season is like a trial run. PKI will see what worked and what didn't, and make changes for next season. Look at Psycho Path, they changed some details of it this season to improve it. The only thing they did wrong with Fearfest this year was bring in Dracula's Haunted Castle. But at least it's most likely safe to say we will never see that movie again. Anyway, they designed it, they built it, and they got people's reactions from it. My reaction is: good layout, but changes in some scare tactics are necessary.
  9. I felt that Sleepy Hollow was lacking in true scares. The headless horseman only appeared once, and he was sitting down, showing you his head right at the beginning. Everyone else just looked like a bunch of zombie Paul Reveres and Ben Franklins. Sure, the hanging heads were very realistic, and the whole house was very detailed, but without any real horror, it was like watching a movie that was just pretty to look at, but had no real substance (What Dreams May Come). I think SHH had two major problems. 1) There was too much light. I don't want it pitch black like Curse of the Crypt, that just ruins everything, but instead, just enough darkness that you can't see everything up ahead. 2) The biggest scares in these houses come from the unexpected, i.e. someone jumping out at you and people popping out of the wall (dotted clown in COH3D). I don't know what the rest of you experienced here, but only one person jumped out at my group, and the rest just walked around as if being there was scary enough. Great idea PKI, it has potential, but it definitely needs work for next season. Oh, and what did the inflated walls at the end have to do with Sleepy Hollow. That was just weird.
  10. There are never short lines for the fearfest attractions. It doesn't matter what day you go. The only thing you can do is get to the haunted house about 20-45 minutes before it opens, this is the only time the lines will be their shortest. If you want to ride the DHC movie, however, (Ha Ha Ha) then just go about an hour before the park closes. This place will be completely deserted.
  11. I also thought the Phantom Theater setup was the best part of the ride. For some reason, I just love the old PT music. I actually walked down the line a second time about 20 min. before the park closed just to listen to it. I wouldn't get back on the ride, though. Words can not truly describe how bad this movie is. It seems like it was still in the process of being made when PKI bought it. The seats hardly move, there are almost no sound effects (certainly no music to be heard, with the exception of a pipe organ being played by a skeleton at the end), and to top it all off, Dracula only makes a 2 second cameo apperance in the whole movie. I talked to Michael and Heather, two area managers, after I rode. They said they were so embarrassed by the movie that when they were in the driver's booth, they would get out of sight of the guests when they were exiting. There is only one true use for this movie. Put it in one of the "haunted houses" as a means of torture, it's certainly more painful and terrifying to watch than being threatened by a maniac with a chainsaw. By the way, a piece of trivia for anyone interested: The old man who introduces you to the castle and appears at the end of the movie is Arthur Malet, who appears as the character Tootles in Steven Spielberg's Hook.
  12. According to maintenance, PKI is waiting for the okay from HUSS to adjust certain specs on the ride in an attempt to fix most of the ride's major problems. Going along with this is, supposedly, a new program for next season. If this is all true, I don't know how much of a change the new program will be, the new program's purpose is to end the sudden stops the ride makes. Even with special brakes, this type of ride is too big to be forced to "stop on a dime." I haven't seen a park map lately, but if that is what it says, then that just confirms everything maintenance told me. As of now, though, everything on the ride is still the same. With that on the map, that would explain what several guests said when they got off the ride tonight. Several guests said that the ride was different when they last rode it in 2003, that the ride now has more flips. They are full of crap, as the ride has not changed, but if they read that on the map, it would give them the impression that they were going to experience something different.
  13. Bomber, did they still have the Dracula scene at the end of the Crypt. I thought that was the worst thing they could have possibly put in there last year, and I can honestly say it ruined the whole attracion for me.
  14. That's not what were saying. We're (the ones defending 54) saying that 54 is the average speed that the ride is supposed to launch at. Some people say it's around 47. This number is based on what the ride computer says, I know because I used to have to look at it about 24 times every hour when I drove the darn ride. This is confirmed by several knowledgable sources to be an incorrect reading. Maintenance and electricians both say the average speed is 54. Can we please end this discussion now, I'm tired of saying the same things over and over.
  15. Fun Fact: Apparently, the idea of park security did not come around until later. The Bradys were running all over the place, in and out of ride restricted areas (Tiques). It certainly didn't seem to bother anyone working there.
  16. I would say something like a 3-d Back to the Future. Take a ride in SkyCaptain's plane, fly around cities, jungles, and underwater, all while dog fighting some giant robots that sound and awful lot like the UFOs in War of the Worlds. The story of the ride could be fairly similar to both events in the movie and BTTF: the ride. The story is one big chase, Dex or Polly Perkins has been kidnapped and you're chasing the ninja lady that is holding them captive. During the chase, you fight off other machines and go through exotic locations. Off course, Lara Crof...I mean Franky Cook appears somewhere to give you a hand. Like BTTF, several people would "ride" in their own vehicle, and the movie would be shown Omnimax style.
  17. I'll have to tape it this time since I have to work. I especially love the scene towards the end where Jan and Marcia ride Flume (for the last time) and they stop on the exit path to deliver some lines. They stop all the people behind them and one kid looks ticked. I'd be mad too if a bunch of "celebrities" cut in front of a two hour line (multiple times) and then blocked your only escape away from them.
  18. Whaaaaaaaaa but he said that FoF wa... Okay forget it, I'm leaving it alone For now...
  19. I think Dane is full of B.S. There is no secret conspiracy surrounding FOF's speed. I'm positive that it is 54. If it's not, then the reason is simply because it's more comfortable for the riders, it doesn't put too much stress on the ride, etc. By the way, what lights on TRTR? As I've said many times, I work on that ride and I can tell you this----if there's a problem with the lights, they probably just burned out. Ancient Chinese Secret! HA!
  20. I already asked maintenance and the electricians last year, both of them said that the ride computer was giving false numbers and that the ride does indeed launch at 54 mph.
  21. That's what the ride computer used to say. It was wrong. It actually is about 54 mph every time.
  22. Are you sure about that length? The video makes it look like the track will be no longer than Flight of Fear's. Isn't FOF's track about 1700 feet long?
  23. According to PKI's website, they're going to keep all the major rides open all night. Action Theatre won't be because that gets converted into a Fearfest attraction. Also, they like to use Scrambler's queue for the House of Darkness, so that should be closed. I can't remember if Top Gun stays open or not. Generally, the small flats close because of staffing, that means Troika, Zephyr, and Monster. The webpage made it seem like Scooters will be open 'till midnight.
  24. They still have them, why wouldn't they?
