  1. You're right. The Eiffel Tower isn't the same, it's similar! There is a bit of French influence on I-Street, but I don't think there's any Italian... I'm fine with not having all the worldms nations' architecture on the Street. I don't necessarily want to find pagodas or colisseums on International Street. Although I would like to see some roman style archways and columns, and if you want to include Greece, go for Corinthian columns and open air pavilions!
  2. ^Don't forget the new posters on KIC (that includes me).
  3. When Taft built Kings Island, that's what European buildings actually looked like... That form of architecture still exists in Europe, by the way...
  4. They don't try to compete, they do compete. The new Fantasyland is a direct answer to WWoHP. While IoA does provide thrills, they also have family attractions. Disney provides family attratcion, and also has thrills. Don't be fooled, each compete for $$. I beg to differ. To me, Avatar is the respond to Harry Potter. Remember how rushed the announcement was? Not even a snippet of concept art. Disney Execs: "Ope! Islands of Adventure did his new Perry Hotter thing and now we need to do sumtin! Oo let's do Avatar!" The announcement was not very Disney-like.
  5. I feel so lucky to have a City BBQ sitting literally right next to a Graeter's. Both within a couple blocks from my school, too! What exactly is a hush puppy? City BBQ (which I echo TTD's thoughts on) has them, and they're really good, but I have no idea what's in them!
  6. The buildings don't look awful. They look great. Are you familiar with the different kinds of architecture from around the world, plus the park's basis? The park was meant to be a EUROPEAN park, hence the European influence. You won't find any Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, or similar architecture on International Street. I would like to have current management put architecture right up there with rides or park cleanliness. Architecture can be great if you actually put effort into it. It's becoming a lost art.
  7. Oh that's right! I forgot to send you a happy birthday message! Eh, why not do it here? HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO EVAN! HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Does that suffice?
  8. And that wasn't even TTD who made the quoted remark...
  9. I'm not gay, but have friends who are. I must say, they are very brave souls for going through with what they have to. I'm a strong supporter in them, and hope they do well in life. I feel bad that we live in a world where you say you don't like homophobes, so people automatically assume you're gay. Have a nice night.
  10. ^I think the fact it's a B&M is what killed the thrill. I mean, B&M has large, graceful transitions, while companies like Intamin or GGI have sharp turns and steep dives. If it was a company like Intamin who made Wing Riders, your opinion would likely have changed.
  11. The terrain the Diamondback roller coaster resides in is full of ravines. Furthermore, of you were to get an evac from the MCBR, you would need to walk the maintenance paths which are gravel and unenjoyable to the feet.
  12. Funny, The Racer operated just fine without seatbelts for over 30 years. Beast over 20. I have learned lotses and lotses of stuff!
  13. Firehawk has the vest with locking seatbelt. And I am aware Diamondback has no seatbelt! =P
  14. Well so does each Racer, and there's been some talk so as to whether or not the turnarounds are legs and Action Theater is her baby... Then there's also Woodstock Express and The Racer made The Beast... 0.o This place is crazy!
  15. So, seat belts are pretty much required on almost every ride at Kings Island (and Cedar Fair all over). My question is, why are seatbelts needed? I know it's for safety reasons, and most rides do need them per manufacturers' recommendations, but do the manufacturers have such little faith in their products that they feel seat belts are absolutely necessary? Rides like Vortex and Flight Deck don't even need seat belts. Look at Tennessee Tornado (Dollywood) and Vortex (Canada's Wonderland). Both belt-less. Also, The Beast plays by its own rules. The ride was built and designed in house, so why the seatbelts? Unless it's the fact they run on PTC trains, therefore making the trains abide by PTC's rules. I guess what I'm trying to say is, are seatbelts really necessary for each and every ride? EDIT: I guess this could have gone in the Kings Island forum, but I can't change that now.
  16. If you saw that from Google Maps, that map is old. Those items could have likely been scrapped or sold to a collector. Also, to the best of my knowledge, the only things related to Spongebob was Bikini Bottom Splash and Plankton's Plunge.
  17. The Beast's gender has never been released. What if The Beast is a girl? Thaaat'd be awkward...
  18. ^What's to stop them from buying a $30 ticket (estimating here) from Kroger and entering the park that way?
  19. I will always stand by my opinion that the Nickelodean area looked depressing. Does anyone remember the Fairly Odd Coaster's color scheme? Hideous and revolting. The mini helicopters that encompass Character Carousel? Dark and disgusting. Even Runaway Reptar looked sorry. I was glad that each ride got various new colors and lighter shades. Light blues, hot orange, bright yellow, among others. Maybe you liked the Nickelodean theme better because you yourself relate to the cartoons from which the rides were "themed". However, most of those shows we're off the air by the time those rides debuted with the names. I won't lie when I say that I loved Danny Phantom, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Rugrats, even Lazy Town, but the kids simply couldn't relate to them because those characters aren't timeless. I'm sure if I came up to a little one in Planet Snoopy today, I would ask them "Do you know who Charlie Brown is?" Chances are, they'd say something to the effect of "Yeah! He's in that comic strip and the cartoon I watch at Christmas!" I then proceed to ask them if they know who Danny Phantom or Little Bill is. "Who's that?" I'd imagine I'd get. The Nick characters were old, and needed replacement.
  20. And just in case you don't know what Cobra's talking about, if there's an alien invasion that is "not a hoax by a local amusement park... Aaas a publicity stunt for its latest attraction", he'll quote a bunch of cheesy alien stuff! EDIT: I LOOOOAAAATHE ENTIRELY (to quote Jim Carrey Grinch--oh! I know a lot of quotes from that movie too!) auto-correct!
  21. They are a little below the top of the seat back (the speakers). The song by Mötley Crüe is Kickstart My Heart. I find it has a catchy tune. Though if you like country, I doubt this song is for you. At least check it out (start about 1:00 into the song)
  22. I'd recommend picking Stronger by Kanye West or whichever song they play by Mötley Crüe. Both fit the ride extremely well. Both songs are worth a go. Don't let the song choice discourage you from riding. Just try to tune it out if you really don't like it.
  23. "Let me through! Let me through!" "What? What? Why?" "I LET CIVILIANS ONTO THE SHIP!" "Hatchbay, I think he's telling the truth!" ... "Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" "Imagine a world, where human imperfections are a thing of the past..." "Crease it, cut it.... Tear it or burn it. This thing is indestructible." "We thank you for visiting the--" Ok, I'll stop.
  24. Does the preshow play at Kings Dominion? Plus, what happened to the scaffolding with the satirical lighting in the middle of the indoor queue? Does it just sit there in the midst of a Haunt, or was it taken down? (talking about Kings Dominion) And I already know the status of the on ride soundtrack; scream-o. Joy. EDIT: Stupid auto-correct. I meant theatrical ligting. Officially tuning auto-correct off...
