  1. Well jcgoble, don't listen to me for those attractions' wait times!
  2. Oh boy... Don't even get me started...!

Why did Arrow Dynamics think that 0 banking would be OK? I mean, didn't they think that it would cause excessive wear on the track / trains? Then there's the whole brake-fin-on-bottom-of-cars thing.
  4. I hear a manufacturing plant in Batavia is a hot spot for B&M roller coaster track.
  5. But to answer this poll, none! I loooaaaaathe football.
  6. Because that's where this topic fits best.
  7. I did specify. I said flyers and Flying Dutchman. Those are the manufacturer-assigned names. How is that not specified enough?
  8. It has been released through investigation reports that Firehawk and Flight Deck were not the causes of the deaths that occurred after riding (both in hospitals). Both riders had pre-existing conditions that caused the deaths.
  9. Unless you're a ride that is only running 1 train and is shut down, then it doesn't have a splashdown!
  10. A splashdown is something where the train or something attached to the train comes into contact with water. Examples of true splashdowns are: SheiKra Matterhorn Bobsleds Examples of faux "splashdowns" are: Shambhala Manta
  11. Is the drop out of the station really that intense? Glad you had fun at a FUN park!
  12. All of Action Zone, and only Action Zone, was without power. Hey, it could have happened, but I seriously doubt that only Action Zone was out of power. If another member here (hint hint) can verify wether or not Drop Tower has a generator, please say so. On another related note, I'd love to be stuck on Drop Tower!
  13. Even if for some reason the magnets wouldn't work due to no power, each and every ride has a backup generator to allow for the ride to run in the case of a power failure.
  14. Now I wouldn't say exact, 'cause Nighthawk at Carowinds has corkscrews instead of barrel rolls at the end! But all B & M flying coasters have pretzel loops. All B & M flyers have a curved drop. All flyers have in-line twists, etc.
  15. Let us see here... 8 B & M flyers which offer similar experiences vs 3 Vekoma Flying Dutchmans which offer similar experiences... Statistically, I'd want to stick with the Vekoma because to me, they are more thrilling with abrupt turns, crazy loops, and high speeds. Why would I want a flyer with elegant swoops over grass, gradual increase in speed, and non-interesting elements (maybe save for the pretzel loop, but that's being generous)? The Vekoma Flying Dutchman sounds more appetizing to me. EDIT: Stash, I don't understand what you're saying... B & M's flyers are all very cookie-cutterish. Oh yeah. Twist. Turn. Helixy thing. Ope! Here comes the pretzel loop you find on every single B & M flyer! Woo! Brake Run! And Vekoma flying coasters aren't either? Um they really arnet cookie cutters only 3 are operating in the world while there like 20 b&m flyers

  17. With all due respect, Jr., people "grey out" on coasters all the time. It depends how thrilling it is. Heck, I greyed out on Kumba at Busch Gardens. And when does anyone grey out on B & Ms? But in all seriousness, if you grey out for a few seconds, it is nothing. Plus, Invertigo offers some insane positive Gs, so I wouldn't blame the kid for greying out on the ride.
  18. He also could have been waiting on a fresh batch of spaghetti and / or chili, thus making your impatient "wait" as long as it was.
  19. Well, that is a matte of opinion, and you're entitled to it. Same way that another not-so-favorite poster here loves The Crypt.
  20. Acturally, I feel like Mummy has less capacity than does Rockit. I guess seeing the trains traversing through the course helps me, but I believe I have had longer waits on Mummy than Rockit.
  21. ...Ok...? Was there really a need to quadruple post? There is such thing as a "multiquote button". You might want to use that. Was there really a need to quote khaoskat three times within your post? I think we know which post you were referring to after the 1 quote.
  22. To the people who thought that since a decision was made, no more Son of Beast threads: GOOD JOKE.
  23. I can answer your Universal and Busch Gardens questions (in that order). First, let me tell you that you need to do Universal first and Islands of Adventure last (like, very last on your trip. You will be glad you did-such a wonderful park). If you plan on getting to Universal Studios at rope drop, I would head to a low(er) capacity ride like The Mummy. Generally all rides at Universal have very high capacity (almost all of them have an omnimover-like system or are motion simulators). Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is also a very fast moving line, what with the multiple trains constantly moving (it has something like 6 trains of 12 people constantly moving thanks to the moving station). I have no idea if each of the parks have all day lockers (as I typically do not use those), but be warned: The ride lockers at Universal/IoA use a fingerprint system where it scans your fingerprint and you rent a locker using that. The first hour is free, and your fingerprint can only be used once during the entire day. Use sparingly! At Universal, Richter's Burgers and the pizza joint by Chez Alcatraz and Disaster! is very good, and very cheap. Islands of Adventure: There is a single rider line for Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey (it's what I used when I went because the regular line was an hour long). It's like a moving robotic arm simulator (think Boo Blasters with 4 across seating (minus the guns) that lift up and tilt, perfectly synchronized to the theming) that takes you through various scenes from Harry Potter, including, but not limited to, a quidditch match, encounters with dementors, a spider forest, and more. I'd definately ride it, just to say you can, providing you're not interested. I heard Mythos is an EXCELLENT restaurant, as I've heard absolutely raving reviews of it on here. Must be quite the place. However, I don't know how much a typical meal sets you back (might want to ask GYK?). An absolute MUST is having Butter Beer (I recommend frozen-it's just cold, not actually frozen). At something like $3-4, it is definately worth it. Plus you get to keep the cool cup! I also heard lunch at the 3 Broomsticks is great. Must rides in the park: Incredible Hulk Storm Force Acceleration Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls Jurassic Park River Adventure Dragon Challenge Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey Caro-Seuss-sel Also, to dispute what LongLiveKingsCobra said above... No, there actually is no "entry ticket" anymore. They got rid of said ticket awhile back, so you're allowed to walk freely into and out of the area. Again, I reiterate, but if you go Islands of Adventure then Universal, you will be sorely disappointed. Instead, go Universal then Islands of Adventure. Busch Gardens Tampa: This is one of my favorite parks of all time. It has a twisted GCI woodie (Gwazi), a newer LSM by Intamin, a fantastic B & M sit down coaster, another wonderful B & M inverted masterpiece, and then of course, there's SheiKra! Ride tips for rides and the park in general: The park closes relatively early (due to the fact that the animals, for whom the park is oriented towards, get all sleepy around 8 so there's not much to see, so they just close the park around 8 (typically). So I'd get there at rope drop. Phoenix is similar to Southern Star at Carowinds and Berserker at Kings Dominion. It is not worth the ride, as the restraints kill your chests. I felt like I could hardly breathe, and almost went into a panic attack. SKIP. Sand Serpent is a typical wild mouse. Scorpion, although it doesn't look exciting, is very cool. It uses what is like a cross between a cable and a chain to lift it up the hill, and the ride overall is fantastic. It uses magnetic brakes to slow the ride down, so it loses its speed very smoothly (something I love). Sit on the left side of the train on Montu. You'll thank me later. Kumba is a great ride. Try experiencing it in the front at least once. You should skip Congo River Rapids. It must be the driest water rapids ride I've ever ridden. Calling it a water rapids ride is a stretch, I should call it a water rapidless ride. It's also just a basic oval shape. The way it switches the raft to each side of the duel loading station is cool, though. Gwazi is fun no matter what. SheiKra, you should ride it in the front. Go for the second train though, because people assume that it's the 3 row to a train, so they go for the very first train front row instead of the seconds. I just think to myself, "Suckers!" As far as where to eat, I'd say eat in a place similar to our Festhaus near the entrance of Scorpion in Timbuktu. Food was great. I hope I helped, TheCrypt
  24. They might have been making your food from scratch rather than having it sit under a heat lamp (like most food at Kings Island does). Be glad they were taking the time to make you fresh food. It was also a large order so that could have taken some time, too. Yelling at the employee was not appropriate and should not have been done.
  25. Now you're just doing that to mess with me...
