  1. That's a shame. I loved that thing! I always thought it would be cool to bring it home, put it in my back yard and turn it into some kind of fountain or slide or something lol. I wonder what the neighbors would think when they looked out their window and saw a giant dinosaur in the back yard?
  2. I'd say Adventure Express. It was one I rode when I was younger before I would ride "bigger" coasters. Even to this day, it's one that I ride just about every visit to the park.
  3. Here's a pretty in-depth article about how the Pepper's Ghost effect works: http://entertainmentdesigner.com/history-of-theme-parks/the-enduring-illusion-of-peppers-ghost/
  4. One thing I've always wondered, does KI have the rights to be playing all these songs?
  5. One year when I rode it, I heard a track from the How to Train Your Dragon soundtrack. I can't remember exactly which one, I believe it was "Romantic Flight" but I could be wrong. It's been a few years.
  6. When we were there on Sunday I saw ice cream cones in all different shapes and sizes being handed out. There was absolutely no consistency. Some people got their dollar's worth, some people got more than what they paid for, and others, well if I were them, I would've asked for a little more.
  7. Looks like I might be getting to go back down there this November, but only for a day. My wife just found out she's got a business trip in Tampa, so I just might tag along with her. We'll more than likely just spend a day at the Magic Kingdom, so construction of any kind hopefully won't affect us. On another note, has Disney mentioned what the construction schedule is going to look like for Toy Story Land and Star Wars Land in Hollywood Studios? How long do they think both lands will take to complete?
  8. I agree with the limiting. Even limiting to 2 slices per person, per trip could cut down on some of the wait time. People could still by slices for multiple family members, but would be limited to fewer slices. Instead of people walking out with 24 slices, they might walk out with 8. If they want or need more, they can go back through again. I think there needs to be some changes put into place for next year.
  9. Ok, just a question about Season Pass renewal. My wife and I always renew our season passes, but the last couple of years we've been lazy and haven't renewed them in time to receive all the perks. This year, however, we're going to be on it! So this is my question: If we renew our Gold Passes online, how do we receive the renewal perks offered (ie. Fastlane wristband, etc)? Do we just go pick them up when we get to the park on a valid day or does it give you some kind of voucher to print? Any info would be appreciated...thanks!!!
  10. While we were waiting in line for pizza we saw some girl cut in line to buy a drink refill. We were not happy since everyone was having to wait. Later as we were through the line, I heard a lady ask an employee if they had to wait in the "long pizza line" to get a drink refill. The employee told her that if she could find a place to cut in, it would be fine. I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
  11. So my wife and I went to Dollar Days yesterday and it was one of the craziest we've ever been to. We usually go on Saturday or Monday, but thought we'd try Sunday this year since I heard rumors of lower crowds due to the fireworks down in Cincy. Well let me tell you, I think everyone in the tri-state area was there yesterday! It was quite insane with all the people and the lines for food. We were only there for a few hours and in that time we managed to get some pizza, get some ice cream and ride Racer and Boo Blasters. That was it. Now we pretty much expected not to do much, so it wasn't a big shocker. We have passes, so we go out there for the deals. We don't make Dollar Days a trip to do a ton of riding. We can do that in the fall. One thing I was thinking about yesterday is the fact that there were two different promotions running this weekend. First, of course, was the Dollar Days, but it was also a Bring a Friend weekend also. Now we all know the Bring a Friend days, by themselves, get crazy. We all know Dollar Days by itself gets crazy. Was it wise to do a double promotion weekend? I know KI is a business and by looking at the numbers yesterday that it sure was good for business, but when does it stop being good for business when it stops being good for guests? If park is boderline capacity and it's so crazy you can hardly do anything, should you start thinking about guest satisfaction instead? I don't know. Walking through the parking lot, I was surprised I also didn't see names of corporations flashing across the sign saying "Welcome so and so.." lol. I told my wife that since they were already doing double promotions, they might as well have invited some big corporations out to the park too to pack it out even more! Another conclusion I came to while waiting in line for food yesterday was, is this all worth it? Yeah it's fun to get cheaper food and snacks, but in the scheme of things, is it worth the additional savings to put yourself through all the chaos? But pizza is just $1, you say. I'm still not so sure. A whole pizza would cost you $8 if you bought 8 slices, you can go to a La Rosa's restaurant can get a whole large pizza for $12-13. So is it worth driving all the way out to the park, walking through a hot parking lot, standing in line for 30-40 minutes just to save $3-4? Now I'm not so sure lol. We used to enjoy the experience in recent years, however, yesterday just seemed to annoy me. Perhaps is cause I'm getting older, or maybe I'm just starting to see that the amount of money you save isn't really worth the trouble. Do any of you absolutely love Dollar Days? Do any of you specifically avoid that weekend because of the chaos? What are your thoughts?
  12. What I'd really love to see is a Mystic Manor added to one of the parks here in the states, preferably Walt Disney World.
  13. So I was looking through some old photos tonight at my mom's house while I was visiting and found some pics from KI that I took back in the 90s. I'm sure there are more somewhere, but I thought I'd scan the ones I found and upload them for your enjoyment. I found 4 from Phantom Theater and 1 from Adventure Express: I know my dad has a bunch that he took of my sister and me from the 80s when we were riding rides in Hanna-Barbera Land. I'd love to get ahold of some of those, scan them, and post them on here.
  14. My wife and I go there maybe 2-3 times a year. Though I do enjoy a Big Boy, I just cannot handle a hamburger drenched in tarter sauce on a regular basis. It's only something I can do once, maybe twice a year at best. However, I do enjoy their salad bar on occasion. All the soup, salad, and fruit you can eat is pretty awesome when I'm in the mood for something like that. Most of the time though, we're not really in the mood for most of what they offer on their menu. Hopefully they'll be able to change that.
  15. I think it all depends on what changes were made. I do not consider The Bat a new ride. A change of name and color hardly change the experience of the ride itself. However, changing the types of cars such as the case with Rougarou, could drastically change the ride experience so much so that it would feel like a new ride completely. I did not consider Son of Beast a new ride with the removal of its loop though. I would also Phantom Theater, Scooby Doo's Haunted Castle, and Boo Blasters to all be different rides since there was as complete change in theming. Even though the ride system is pretty much the same, and it's within the same building, the experiences are completely different (as most would argue that "Phantom" was way better than Boo Blasters). So there really is no clear Yes or No answer. It just depends on what kinds of changes and how that affects the experience from ride to ride.
  16. I was wondering the same thing. It just says from now through Nov. 1. I don't see why not, but I'd like to know for sure.
  17. 90s was an awesome decade! I was born in 1980, so technically I'm an 80s kid, but the 90s is really the decade I remember completely. I've got lots of great memories from the 90s and I could definitely see that working into a pretty neat store too.
  18. It makes me mad how we have warn people specifically about EVERYTHING! It really comes down to common sense and some things should just be common knowledge. Like, you should know not to grab a lawn mower blade while it's in motion, however, we see those warning labels on lawn mowers. Really people, did we have to tell you that? Do we really have to tell you that coffee is hot and to be careful with it? Just like in this case, if he couldn't figure out that entering a restricted area while the ride was running could have dangerous, then it was nobody's fault but his own. At some point we need to stop babying everyone and understand that people should have common sense, and if not, well then that's their problem. People cannot keep being held responsible for other peoples' stupidity!
  19. ^I can't imagine crowds at this year's Dollar Days not being bad. I can't remember if KI has offered the "Bring a Friend" promo the other years, but all I know is that $1 food bring out just about everyone. So, add the Bring a Friend promo to that, and I can't even imagine the type of crowds we'll see. Not to mention the type of people $1 food brings to the park! I've seen some interesting characters during this promotion. I've seen people walking around with trays of pizza stacked 10 plates high! I've seen people hoarding food like they haven't eaten in a year and won't eat again for another year. It's sort of a sad display really. Now, there are the people that enjoy this promo in moderation, and for that I'm thankful! It at least tends to balance things out a bit. If I didn't have a pass, there is no way on God's green Earth that I would subject myself to the type of madness we'll surely see this year. However, since it doesn't really cost us anything to come in to the park, it's not too bad to come out for a few hours, ride a couple of rides, grab some pizza, and snag a couple bags of cotton candy to go. That's how to successfully enjoy Dollar Days at the park, I think. It will be interesting to see what kind of madness will be displayed this year. I can only imagine!
  20. Well, at least The Racer and the train are safe. However, I could think of a few other things I'd have rather had than a new slide. Oh well, there's always next year!
  21. Edit: Double Posted
  22. Eh, I haven't been to the water park in a few years. I couldn't care less about a water park addition or expansion. One thing I do know though, if they remove the trains in favor of a water park expansion, I will be one "not-so-happy" park goer.

  24. Holy crap! Bring a friend and Dollar Days both at the same time? What are they trying to do, fill the park to capacity?
  25. Just wondering if anyone has heard anything or has any information about whether or not we'll be getting another Dollar Days weekend this year? It seems to be pretty popular and usually happens during Labor Day weekend.
