This seems like their answer to Banshee with its record breaking height and length for a launched wing coaster- though you can make a record based off of any stat nowadays. My only gripe is that they should have squeezed out 1 or two more inversions- the first elements could have been a cutback, the airtime hill could have been a zero-g roll and or the S-then could’ve been a corkscrew. I’m not really a fan of airtime hills on B&M coasters that focus on inversions: GateKeeper and Valravn come to mind. (I’m not an engineer so I’m sure that would’ve cost the park extra $$$ to do more inversions so it’s more of a nitpick than anything.) Overall it looks like a good attraction to the park. We haven’t seen many green coasters made in a while so that’s always cool to see- I dare say it looks like it’s a similar shade of green as the Eiffel Tower. It’ll certainly keep them somewhat competitive in the mid-Atlantic. If that becomes a reality, it would give us hope that we could convert ours to something more visually appealing.

Even if they didn’t have the violations, I wonder if the waterpark was dead upon arrival. Much like how KI was an overwhelming force against the Beach, Great Wolf Lodge was a huge threat to Coco Key. I went a few times as a kid and I can confidently say that my first visit was the best and quality dropped with each return visit. I keep wondering how Coco Keys and GWL could have coexisted in the Greater Cincinnati region…maybe if the former was in Northern Kentucky to give the parks more space between one another.

That’s an interesting idea- space stuff out as a means to try and control crowds.
-
Short answer? Yes, it would be cool to see.

I'm curious about the future development of Kings Island and would love to hear your thoughts on what each section of the park might need by the end of the decade. What improvements or additions would you like to see in areas like rides, attractions, dining, infrastructure, and guest services? Do you think there will be a new section added to the park? If so, what kind of theme or attractions would you hope for?

I would have to agree with @BeeastFarmer- it’s a great way to get people connected. Look at the Cyclones and their teddy bear toss, kind of the same deal.
-
That’s interesting. Not sure if you care to answer, and if you don’t want to that’s 100% fine, but what was the biggest change regarding Halloween Haunt during your tenure that you didn’t agree with?
-
I’ve never been to a non Cedar Fair Halloween event, how does Haunt contrast Fright Fest? Heck throw HalloScream in there too.

I shared a lot of my thoughts on this thread because I know a lot about this type of stuff and thought I would contribute. Now it feels somewhat in vain. At this point, any legitimate argument regarding the park’s PR practices will just be seen as an attempt at slandering someone, and for what?-some form of self righteousness they feel for speaking out against current staff? I like to be able to discuss topics, point out when things seem off, give my opinion- but now I don’t know who I’m backing up and if they’re even real or just someone going out of their way to discredit someone.

Personally, I would like to see a rating system for houses/mazes. http://www.amusementpics.com/TPT/100705-139.jpg Also I wish more rides got a name or theming overlay https://www.themeparkhipster.com/happy-halloween/ Also, maybe have some of the Halloween props work during the daytime like they do at HalloWeekends during the day like the troll.

I’ve been reading a book and in one of the chapters it talks about fault and responsibility: The author used an example of someone dropping off a baby on a random stranger’s doorstep. Is the homeowner at fault for having the baby dropped on their doorstep? No. Are they responsible? Yes. Whether they call the authorities, take the baby in as their own, leave it, etc, that abandoned baby their responsibility even though they’re not at fault. After reading this it made me think of the Banshee incident in a sense. Is the park at fault for a man blatantly ignoring park rules to retrieve a loose article? No. Is the park responsible? Yes- it still happened on their property. It’s their responsibility to act during incidents such as this- calling EMS, evacuating riders, communicating with guests on the situation, etc. In summary, fault is about assigning blame, while responsibility is about taking ownership and action to manage or resolve a situation, regardless of who is at fault. When Cedar Point made their statement about Raptor’s incident, they took action to manage the situation even though it was not their fault, which presented a strong sense of responsibility on their part. It’s fitting that the word “response” can be found in the word “responsibility”, considering the former is the main topic of discussion at the moment.

@Tr0y, regardless of how people choose to believe the credibility of the post, the issue still remains- this incident wasn’t addressed appropriately. As @Orion-XL200 shared, this issue happened at another Cedar Fair park nearly 10 years ago…same type of ride….same type of accident. This post was made the DAY OF the accident. If you want to cut the PR team some slack by saying that “our incident occurred at night so let’s give them a grace period”, thats fine. Let’s see what the park posted the day after the Banshee incident, this would be on June 20th. I’m not seeing any official statement from the park’s Facebook page like we saw with Cedar Point. If anything it looked like the park avoided making any posts between June 19th-June 22nd. There was a statement made by the PR team acknowledging the incident but nothing coming from the park’s official accounts that I noticed. It just seems weird why the park wouldn’t want to directly communicate with their guests on this type of matter.

Hershey Land Clearing
SonofBaconator replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Hershey has been going full candy these past few years be retheming sidewinder to Jolly Ranchers and the new Candymonium. It makes me wonder how they balance out what rides they want to theme to candy and what rides don’t. -
It’s so weird how I had to reread the first part of hour response because…well…”Six Flags.” Regarding what @CorkscrewMcPuke said, I think it all comes down to how much a legacy the coaster has had in the park: like Loch Ness Monster. Also, and I’m no engineer, but I think if it’s purely a retrack, and it’s a popular coaster, a park will make an effort to preserve it. I’m not sure if supports are as easy to recreate as opposed to track- perhaps they’re easier- like I said I’m not an engineer.

Especially if you had already publicly made a statement from the beginning; which the park did not. If something newsworthy happens at your park and you don’t address it in a timely manner, you’re liable to have other employees speak up because people want to know what happened. In my opinion, not releasing a statement as soon as possible is an insult to the bystanders who were involved the incident: riders, associates, etc. When you’re in charge of being the bridge between the park and the general public, you want to address this as soon as possible. When I was in college, we were given scenarios where we worked at a company where something went wrong and we had to write up a PR response to the incident. Responding to incidents is textbook PR practice…if you’re not taking the time to address issues your company is having, you shouldn’t be surprised when other employees speak on behalf of the park- because you certainly didn’t.

Ideas For Better Thrills!?
SonofBaconator replied to Hmrapp's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I’m sure there are no photos of this considering it was covered up during the day IIRC and of course recording devices are not allowed on rides. I’d like to know what prop they used. @TOPGUN1993?^^ -
I always thought that Congo Falls was expendable-it’s no where near other water rides to make it appealing. At least if you got wet on Kenton’s Cove, you could ride White Water Canyon after as well as the former Wild Thornberry’s. Cedar Point had the same thing going with having Shoot the Rapids, Snake River Falls, and Thunder Canyon all within the same area. I wish all 3 of our water rides were in the same place.

Six Flags and Cedar Fair Merge
SonofBaconator replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
If you look at how most people view SFA compared to other parks, the reviews are not great. Not saying it needs to be axed but I’ve also heard that the land value is pretty high. -
Six Flags and Cedar Fair Merge
SonofBaconator replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I know the population density on the east coast is large but I have a hard time believing that Six Flags America will last in this new chain.
