My parents go to CP every year in October, and last year they went during Columbus day weekend and said it was absolutely horrible.. to the point that they changed their arrangements for the night and stopped at the first place that was open until the crowds cleared a bit. My parents, husband, and I will be going this coming weekend and I'm praying it will not be as bad. Husband has never been to CP and it's been about nine years for me, so I'm really hoping we can have a good time without excessively long wait times both in the park and out. This is a graduation/anniversary present and I have high hopes!

Best Ride Crews 2013
PhantomTheaterKiss replied to Ride On_17's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I think best crew, in part, depends on your personal preference. Do you like chatter and jokes? Or do you prefer quiet, with a small quick spiel? Of course we all desire efficiency, speed, and safety. I enjoyed The Beast's crew this season, both chatty and quiet days/shifts. They seemed quick, efficient, safe, yet understanding. Several times I seen riders having an issue and the crew was not exasperated or snippy with the guest, but helped them with a smile and kindness... something missing from more than few places in the park and world. The Vortex had a terrible crew this year. Rude, boring, and seemingly they could not care less about what they were doing. There was an incredible lack of communication the last several times I rode. In the end, the crew can enhance or detract from a ride experience, but a terrible crew doesn't keep me from riding. -
What do you picture when someone says "roller coaster"?
PhantomTheaterKiss replied to ThatGuy11's topic in KI Polls
This. It's almost a rapid slideshow of many parks, roller coasters and various memories made throughout life in amusement parks. -
Definitely. Most everything has been and still is just station wait. Kiddie land seems packed out but I can't say for sure on that one.

Don is working the line of The Beast. Very cool.

First time to KI this weekend 8/23-8/25
PhantomTheaterKiss replied to TrinDawg41's topic in Kings Island
Blue ice cream is most certainly blueberry in flavor... I know this because I despise blueberry and my mom would never let me get blue ice cream as a kid with insistence I wouldn't like it. As an adult my husband purchased some of his beloved blue ice cream, I took a lick and added another check mark next to "my mom was right all these years". All in all just have a great trip and enjoy the unique fun that is KI. Come back and let us know how your trip goes. -
Kirbias1 questioned your statement and I retorted. I assumed you were commenting about the video.
-
Did KI say they are going to add these things, or are you just going off of the animation videos? I hope they do though. Listen to the interview posted by IndyGuy4KI (post #512 in this thread) Don says the gravestones will be used.

I enjoyed this interview. Great questions... especially about the theming and "Bat" website. I still think it was (even if just a tiny bit) intended to get us KIC'ers up in arms. Thank you for sharing. As far as the construction: I looked at the webcam around 10:00 something this morning and said to myself "Hey maybe they will go vertical while I'm there this week"... I check about an hour ago and said outloud "YAYYYY!" They certainly got the supports up very quickly. Is this a typical pace?

Bridges used to be a huge fear of mine. However, moving outside of SoOh meant crossing rather large bridges to get back home to visit. The worst being the drive between CO and OH... lots of bridges and a generally awful drive. These days I don't really fear much, if something is going to happen it's going to happen whether I'm afraid or not... I think my give a darn is just busted these days.

I had a dream last night that I was riding AE. While going up the tiki dude hill, the restraints opened and there was a voice telling us riders that demolition will begin on AE as soon as we exited the train. That's all I remember (or had) of that dream, but I have had several dreams lately about being on a ride without my restraints secured.

I have had this done for several days but didn't post it for some reason. PTR Friday 08/02/13 Husband and I were lucky enough to be able to leave our house Thursday night and head up to my parents house; this was fortunate because it allowed us to hit up ERT for the first time this season. We hit up DB (2nd row) and then over to The Beast for x2 ride (random middle seat that was empty). From there, we trekked over to Vortex and enjoyed a ride at 7-1 and then 5-1. My head was a little banged up after 7-1 but nothing major and it was kind of my own fault (definitely unintentionally punched myself in the face at the MCBR). Quick question… Anyone else find it hard to figure out what to do with your hands on The Vortex? My husband laughs at me every time because the handles are uncomfortable and nothing seems right. From Vortex, we headed up into Coney Mall for a pretzel and water. After the little rest we hit up FoF . The wait was about 25-30 minutes but the young kids on both sides of us were hilarious so it went quick. I absolutely love front row FoF, great fun! At this point, we make a solid game plan because we had to leave the park early to head home (3+ hours) for an event early Saturday. We decided blue Racer, DB again, lunch, then a couple flats and back home. Blue Racer and DB happened, we hit HOF grill for lunch (2nd time we have eaten there this season). We sat at the bar, enjoyed our food and a beer. While eating husband gets a message that Saturdays event was moved to Sunday. So we ordered up another beer, and the bartender informed us that we were able to take our beers out if we wanted, and we did just that. We wandered a little bit and decided to hit up DB again, we both had about ½ glass of beer left and the attendant at DB’s line informed us that we are not allowed to bring alcohol into the line. New policy of no alcohol in line … anyone willing to explain why? Just curious. Anways, we sat down and people watched for awhile then hit up DB again, and The Beast again then wandered towards AZ. Got in line for Delirium and right as we got settled they announced it was down for maintenance issues. Well then, we shall check out construction and then off to Flight Deck, x2 on that. Back to Delirium, on to Viking Fury, and a stop at Biergarten for some water and watching fishys. Husband checked out the line for Invertigo and we decided it was not worth the wait. By this time it is about 3:30 and getting busier. We wander to the fountains and discuss what we want to do. Husband admitted his back was acting up, so we decide to grab some fudge and call it an early day. We missed a couple good rides but still had a good ride count and it was a great day!

^ THIS! So much negativity. I think all coaster are thrilling in their own right. It seems like "coaster enthusiast" seems to mean "incredibly selective about which coasters get enthusiasm". I would think an enthusiast would be able to see the positive and fun in all coasters. Just my opinion.

The majority of the things screamscape says in above article (if not all things said) were pulled directly from discussion here. Some of which started out as a pipe dream/joke. I'm not saying that we are not a knowledgable group but I find it a bit odd that a "media outlet", that quite a few people take seriously, get all of their KI news from a big group of yahoos on a forum, haha. I've never considered screamscape reliable, but so many do it's a bit sad.

I can't imagine the park getting rid of anything else in the next 5 years. My theory is that the new attraction will bring more people to that area of the park and therefore to Flight Deck. An increase in ridership on FD will mean there is no reason to remove it, as it is still a great ride! I also just can't imagine a KI without Vortex... then again I couldn't imagine KI without King Cobra. le sigh

This is the first forum I have been apart of since I was "kicked off" a mil spouse one. Want to see butt hurt people screaming none sense go hunt down one of the millions of mil spouse forums. Whhooo. I was kicked for making post very similar to this OP. I have came here and basically kept my mouth shut but I couldn't help but laugh a bit regarding this post all things considered. Have a lovely day!

Just finished eating Skyline for dinner (at home). I prefer skyline over goldstar but I like it all. I have an affinity for Mikes gyros and chili.

What is your favorite Candy and desert?
PhantomTheaterKiss replied to CP&LERR Fan's topic in KI Polls
Candy: white chocolate Reese's cups or Cadbury creme eggs. Dessert: fruit pie (no blueberry, ick) or cupcakes... Oooo or wedding cake, specifically my wedding cake, nomagon. 7 years later and I'm still craving 1 more piece, haha. -
One of my favorite sounds has to be the brake run of Flight Deck. The sound of things locking to stop the swinging trains is a neat sound that I remember being comforted by on my first rides as younger one. (I have absolutely no technical knowledge so "things locking" is the best I've got). Smell... while I'm not sure there is actually a smell, I feel like I'm breathing different air when I walk through the gates. Maybe the fountains have a smell or the food vendor right there, but I think it's more a mental thing where I smell excitement and fun. I'm fully aware I'm weird.

Person riding alone, sitting behind me on The Beast while waiting on the brake run: "So what do you think they are building?" Me: "Not sure, as long as it's fun I don't much care" Person: "I bet they won't build another roller coaster there are already too many to ride in one day and Cedar Point has a lot so Kings Island shouldn't get another one, that would be dumb". Me (very happy person couldn't see my face): "Hmmm you have a point".

I had my dad help me translate all of them since my married last name is one of the names as well.

Lol I wish. It was a mix of google and dad knowledge.

For real.
