Firehawk Leaving Kings Island 10/28/18
fryoj replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
You could post a link to the page as "an interesting link you found". By not posting the pics directly, you shouldn't be in violation of the TOS. And, the timeline is clearly an April 2020 opening of the new ride. Wherever they are in the process will be with that in mind. Weather delays or speed ups to get ahead of potential weather delays might change where they are at in the process, but not the end goal. -

They don't just up and change roller coaster locations that quickly. When B&M comes in, the park shows them the area they want the coaster and the basics of what they want and B&M custom builds the ride for the site. Thats oversimplifying it, but to change the location, it would pretty much mean starting over with the designs and engineering. That's not something you do late in the process. If it's going on the Firehawk plot, it was probably always going on the Firehawk plot. -
When did they start tearing out the go-cart track?

I'm actually referring to the whole deal where Nintendo was going into Kidzone before being shifted to the new park. Plans were submitted, approved, and posted on governmental website. Construction fences were up. Then they changed their mind. Like I said though, not remotely like the Firehawk deal. They were never going out and unbolting that thing. But companies do change their mind at times. -

eh, Universal seems to change their mind daily on projects. They've had plans submitted with the city for projects and construction walls up just to completely change their mind. Granted they have a lot more moving parts to their decisions. I don't think thats the case here. The "outlived it's service life" line told us what was going to happen here. -
It really doesn't matter what you put here. Don Helbig could get on here and say they are building a B&M in 2020 and theres people that would say thats not an official press release. Hell when they were building Banshee and footers were in the ground there were people still trying to argue it wasn't an inverted. After they are proven wrong they either disappear or perform revisionist history on what they'd said.

lol, they aren't screwing around if they are using hydro-shears. -
After thinking about this, what would the route even be? International st seems too tight with the trees and everything for any real floats. They could cross the main entrance and go towards Action Zone. Maybe into Oktoberfest or coney, but it has to end somewhere with backstage access. Doable I'm sure, but I'm just not sure what route they'd take.

Park A buys Firehawk and reinstalls it. At some point in the future, Rider B gets injured on Firehawk at park A. Lawyer C uses KI's PR about the ride reaching the end of its service life to get very very rich. -

Yeah, the PR makes its almost impossible to sell in the US. Foreign country though, I guess they may not read the US PR. Still, if they intended to sell it as a working ride, why handicap themselves with the outlived its service life(can't recall the exact verbiage) line? Just say its being removed for future expansion and its not bad PR for another park to buy it in the US. -
The Firehawk location(or at least that corner of the park) makes the most sense from a logistics standpoint. You already have Banshee pulling guests to the Action Zone area. Diamondback, Beast, and MT pull guests to the right side of the park. There really isn't a whole lot to pull guests to the back left corner. You don't want the guests all crowded in one or two areas of the park. You want them spread out. That helps reduce lines for both rides and food vendors and increases sales. You are more likely to hop in a short line for food than if theres a long line. Not to mention all of those cash cow games up and down coney will get a boost from all the foot traffic. There is the dead end issue with Xbase, but Action Zone is larger dead end itself, and adding another marquis coaster wouldn't help that any. Theres also the possibility with Xbase of bringing a path around and tying it into the old DA entrance. That creates other issues that I've mentioned before, but if the dead end thing is really a big deal to them, they can do something about it.

Maybe they intend to buy a car that uses the recycled track in its construction. -

When did the Banshee cam go active? I can't remember if it was prior to the announcement or after. I know we had pics from the tower, but don't recall if those were cam pics or just pics people took. -
Hmmm, I could have sworn that it said "Coney Mall Improvement Project" somewhere in the docs, but I sure can't find it now. The 2020 B&M is for sure in there. I guess location is still technically a question, but it going anywhere but the Firehawk area would be a shock at this point.
-
Except for documents filed with the county say its a B&M in Coney Mall.
-
I think once the HP coaster opens, that may change.

Double posted. Delete.

The KI PR stating that the coaster has outlived its service life is a rock solid guarantee that its going to be scrapped. They might send the mechanical parts to another park that already has one for spares, but theres no way another park can install a coaster that another park said is done. Way too much liability there.

Could you ask @DonHelbig if there are any plans to add or relocate a webcam to watch the FH deconstruction and antique car construction? And anything else that may happen in that area... lol -
Looks like it varies, but I recall from the past that it won't show up anywhere in the searchable databases until after the name has been announced.

For those who don't read everything on the forums, @Old_Bearcat found the Notice of Commencement for construction on the Warren County website here: https://oh3laredo.fidlar.com/OHWarren/AvaWeb/#!/search?Parcel=1617200014 Within that page is the following document: This shows that for the 2018, 2019, and 2020 seasons that KI is doing Coney Mall improvements. 18 was the BBQ, 19 is the antique cars, and 2020 shall be a B&M coaster. Well, unless you want to convince yourself that B&M is helping tear down Firehawk or paint benches or something. These are legal documents. KI can't lie on these. If they wanted to change them, they would have to file that with county. No changes have been posted, so these are KI's current plans. I mean sure, they could do something no seasonal park would do and complete the coaster in 2020 and let it sit till 2021. That makes a lot of sense. The fact is, this is playing out like most recent coster installations. They will tear Firehawk out this offseason, they will begin site prep either immediately after or in the Spring. Sometime next Summer we will start to see footers poured, and, around August we will get an announcement and track will begin to show up. They will build all fall and Winter and open April 2020. If it's an especially large or complicated build, they might speed that timetable up some. This isn't a big game to KI. They tease announcements and the like, but the business of building a new ride is formulaic. If we didn't have the docs from the county, we might have a little more gray area, but B&M being on there tells us exactly whats going to happen. Sure the type of coaster and details like layout and do they build a bathroom still need to be figured out. But thats the Decoding 2020 thread will be for. In the meantime though, I don't get the desire for people to stick their head in the sand and pretend something else is going to happen because its not what they want.
