Interesting. If it would have came and went in the KC location, We wouldn't have Banshee. Or at least not in it's current form. And as a somewhat confirmation of the story: It's almost like Firehawk was designed for that spot... because it was. The one time Google having the old SOB imagery up being beneficial. lol

Some people will ignore facts and logic to feed their own fantasy theories. No need to keep feeding the trolls. We should just leave it like that.

Except that the docs we've seen are for 2018-2020 Coney Mall Construction. Not 2018-2021 construction.

Kings Island Confirms removal of Coaster

If they had a message board, and one of the forums was NBC news, yeah, I'd expect it to be about NBC. -
Those who think this is The Bat and they are going to put a coaster up there, the plans that you can look up on the county or city website list B&M as a supplier on the 2018-2020 Coney Mall Project. The ride is going into Coney Mall, and is almost certainly a 2020 project. Now that in and of itself doesn't rule out The Bat being removed, but it does rule out the new coaster going up there. Whatever the ride being removed is, it is most likely related to the new coaster. Thats a pattern at CF parks. I do like the idea someone had about removing Firehawk and looping X-Base around to the DA entrance. It would allow the giga to be built, a bathroom, maybe food or merch, or even a flat down the road. It would also help with crowd flow with the new coaster and help explain why they have the antique cars go out partially blocking the midway. It does cause a problem with all of those maintenance buildings being cut off from backstage though. They would probably have to be relocated, so that does hurt the likelihood of it happening.

Yeah I never understood that either. Yeah the description says KI and KIC news, but the title of the forum is KIC News. That suggests news about the site. -

They have said they are going to announce which coaster is leaving this week. And no, they will not announce the 2020 coaster until sometime next season. That would kill 2019 season pass sales to announce it now. -

A dive coaster that uses the valley by the Batwing to cross under the pathway to or from the area by BLSC would be interesting. -

Whichever coaster is removed, the giga would be using a much different footprint than the existing coaster. While, IMO, a Vortex removal would sway the odds a little towards a different style of coaster than a Giga, I still would be firmly in camp giga. Theres plenty or room to run it out into the woods or even to the DA area from there. As for which coaster goes, I think it's Firehawk for multiple reasons, but the Antique cars placement does kinda make it look like they are planning on Vortex leaving. Thats a tight alley back to Windseaker and Vortex now. Removal of Vortex would allow a complete reconfiguration of that area. -

Inverting, not Inverted. Coasters that go upside down. A B&M wing, floorless, dive, etc fit this.
-
Yeah, with the placement of the antique cars and them taking up half the midway, the DA location for the Giga was compromised and left some complications about where to put the station. This would clear that up quite a bit. Of course, this does at least make you have to consider that maybe it's not going to be a giga afterall. Removal of an inverting coaster could lead to the addition of another inverting coaster. I'm still firmly in camp giga, but this would at drop the odds to at least 90-10.

I wonder at what point would coasters hit terminal velocity?
-
They will probably spend $100,000 on plans and permits.
-
Since when has any Cedar Fair Park teased a ride at another park?
-
The only way I can see this being anything but a giga would be if they are tearing out Vortex and replacing it. The coney mall area seems to be the clear location. In that area you already have Vortex, Firehawk and FoF which are all inverting coasters. Adding another in the area, while possible, just seems unlikely. Diamondback seems to stay as the most popular ride in the park, so putting a bigger version of it on the other side of the park just fits both from a lineup perspective and for distribution of guests. I think we start seeing work on this sometime early in the season for a 2020 opening. They've not spent a lot, in theme park terms, on 2018 and 2019 improvements. So the funding should be there.

Kings Island 2019 Announcement on National Roller Coaster Day 8/16/18

I was referring more to the various smaller tracts it describes, but, after looking closer, you are right. They probably are just overall property descriptions as they appear as part of the deed. -
Kings Island 2019 Announcement on National Roller Coaster Day 8/16/18
fryoj replied to Codyfryguy's topic in Kings Island
Yeah, that's a big one. Pretty much shows that 2020 is the big prize. 2019 will be continuing to get the area ready for the Giga. The Taxis seem likely as well as a Racer refurb with returning backwards cars. A Zodiac is hinted as well, so maybe a flat package. Mainly all just cheap things to improve the area and make it look better for the massive crowds the next year. If someone knows how to plot coords, those docs may even show the location of the Giga. Good find. Edit: As there is no mention of RMC or any other coaster manufacturer, I'd rule out any major change to Racer. Might just be paint and lights. -
You missed the joke

Here we go with the B&M vs Intamin debate again....
-
You think this thread is mind numbing, try taking a month off and then just scanning through to catch up....
-
When they started on MT, they were cutting down trees by Diamondbacks turn around and people were on here drawing the layout of the giga...
-
You quoted me and talked about ash trees. Why would you do that if you were answering someone else? What would be more suspicious would be them building a coaster that interacted with the world's best wooded coaster.
