  1. Went last night, 5/3 6:30 - !0 - Drop Tower was down the whole time, and WindSeeker only went up during the fireworks display. Nothing gives me more of a rush than Drop Tower. I hope they get it working soon.
  2. I just rode Banshee for the first time tonight. It was very cool and very disorienting. I loved the gravestones under the ride and the foot chopper effects. Still like Diamondback better for the massive amounts of airtime - Banshee seemed to have a lot of positive G's, especially when it arcs up and around near the end. It was a very intense ride, but for the last ride of the night I still prefer Beast.
  3. I have to work from 10 that night to 6 the next morning. Hope they do more of that during the season.
  4. Has anyone seen any Ozzy Osbourne videos in the Banshee or Beast lines? "Crazy Train," "Mr. Crowley" or "No More Tears" would be great.
  5. My post was deleted (I guess) because I criticized the response to the incident. Hey, it's your forum and you can do what you want. I was glad to be able to find out what happened before some of the eyewitness accounts were removed. I found it here first before any news outlet or YouTube video told me what happened, just an hour or so after leaving the park. That was pretty cool. At least I know it wasn't a big deal and it should be safe to ride.
  6. I think it would be cool if it switched to live feeds from other parks once in awhile. I like seeing the weather forecast on the TVs. I saw "Enter Sandman" twice. That video does add to Banshee's atmosphere well, and I like the idea of playing Irish music there. It'd be nice if they'd get some more traditionally Irish stuff on there. Hoping to see Cranberries on there as well - anyone seen it? I'd like it if they could play some horror movie clips during the Haunt like they did with FearFest one year. They could handle the licensing, although I know the clips they played were Paramount because that was back when Paramount owned the park. I'd like to see clips from Insidious in Banshee's line. Give some people nightmares. I like the idea of the music changing with the season, too. Last year I only went during summer and fall. I tend to change up my playlists with the season anyway. I latched on to some songs I heard in the park last year. I'll have to make a few playlists this year, too.
  7. I've seen a skunk around Diamondback and Rivertown La Rosa's a few times this season. One time I was sitting at a table eating pumpkin pie and some people warned me that he was coming up behind me.
  8. I think they shouldn't let anyone under 13 into the Haunt. Then they can up the gore and scariness of it.
  9. It was definitely very crowded, especially for how rainy it was. Very few people seemed to be leaving because of the weather.
  10. First, I went both Friday and Saturday. I go to the Haunt every weekend, sometimes Friday and Saturday, sometimes just Saturday, depending on whether I'm working. On Friday, I got there around 23:00 and rode rides. I did Diamondback, The Racer, Monster, Delirium, and went up the Eiffel Tower. I also did Backwoods Bayou, although three of the scarectors were standing around talking right at the front of the fright zone, which made me mad. Tonight, however, was not a good night to go. Me and my dad had fun anyway, but it rained pretty steadily from 20:00 onward. The forecast said it would stop, so I was going whether he wanted to or not. After all, there's only six more Haunt nights! We started off walking towards Drop Tower. We saw a few chainsaw guys outside Slaughter House, scaring people pretty well. One woman ran away so suddenly she knocked another woman over. After seeing and filming that (until I realized someone had been hurt), we got in line for Drop Tower. Just before we boarded, it started raining, and we were wet by the time the ride was over. It was very strange to be taken up above the fog and into the rain, and hard to see the ground. The ride was exhilirating, as always. Next was Wolf Pack, one of my favorite mazes. I let him go first since I've been through it before. I almost fell over when one werewolf jumped out at me, almost tripped over the tree roots. My dad looked like a werewolf with his beard and flannel shirt. There was a real screamer behind me who most of the werewolves were waiting for. Her boyfriend kept shouting "Get her! Get her!" One of the werewolves even blocked her way out at the end. That was funny. Slaughter House was next on the chopping block, one of the two mazes I hadn't been through yet. It was pretty cool. I liked the gore effects. He wanted to go first, but changed his mind when he got a peek into the "meat locker," and I was nominated first in the group. Most of the characters didn't try too hard to scare me. I was enjoying the gory scenes, really looking around. What I was anticipating was a chainsaw, but no one lunged out of the shadows with one. I was a little disappointed by that. I didn't understand why the car was there, and would have preferred a "killing floor" area of some sort, with a siren and a red light. That's what I'd do if I designed it. It was still raining after Slaughter House, so we decided to grab some grub at Festhaus. The Graveyard Shift show was on, but I don't think it was really worth seeing. We ate some pizza and very good french fries. I'll have to remember those. After Festhaus we did Adventure Express. Rain was whipping my face, getting in my eyes, and we were in the back of the train, which is a pretty rough ride. I would say it sucked, but I will remember it fondly, I'm sure. Next we did Racer (red) and the trains were flying over the track. It was the fastest I remember it being. I love hitting those dips around Urgent Scare and WindSeeker, with all that fog there. The fog patches really improve everything about the park. Our train won, too, so that was cool. The rain briefly stopped, so we headed for Diamondback, but the line looked to be about 90 minutes long, so we got back out and went to Carnevil instead. The rain started again, and some kind people gave us their 3D glasses. The maze was cool and trippy, but didn't scare me. Clowns don't bother me. I love the bubbles and the rotating tunnel, though. I was still disoriented for about fifteen minutes after I stood in that tunnel for a little while. We headed back towards Beast, but saw that the ride was down due to technical difficulties. The rain picked up even more, getting a little heavier. We rode Shake, Rattle, & Roll, which was a walk-on. But my dad stepped in a huge puddle and his feet got soaked. I wore boots, so I had dry feet even by the end of the night. But that puddle killed it for him. We went to ride Flight of Fear, but the line looked like it was 2 hours long. It would have given us time to dry off, so we should have stayed and rode it, but we got back out of line - third time that night. We rode Dodgem instead, but the attendant stopped the ride after one lap, cheesing everybody off. Then we walked all the way back to Urgent Scare, and dad said he was ready to go home. I think if we'd have gone on Flight of Fear, that could have gotten him to stay until closing time. Maybe. For some reason he's running 18 miles today. I don't know why he agreed to go to Kings Island with that plan. We went through Urgent Scare, but they didn't do the elevator scene or the waiting room scene, which was disappointing, and it looked like they had some brighter lights on. This was the worst time through the maze for me. Given the short lines, fairly cheesy acting, and the way they seem to rush people through, the prognosis doesn't look good for Urgent Scare. I think it may be replaced next season. I think this maze would be improved with either a heavier focus on mutilation and surgery, or a conversion to an out-and-out zombie maze. But I've heard the maze had better years, and maybe it's just time for new blood. After Urgent Scare, dad no longer wanted to ride The Beast, and I didn't really feel like we had to, either. I was getting sick of the rain. We sloshed over to the Bier Garten where we got a pretzel, some fried pickles and a rum and Coke for me. Then, as we passed the Eiffel Tower on the way out of the park, we saw lightning. Even if we wanted to stay, there would have been no point. I think next time, I'll skip it if it's going to rain. It rained all night after we got home.
  11. They definitely are letting too many people in on a few of them, particularly Urgent Scare and Club Blood, which do 13-14. I was in a group of three through Cavern of Terror tonight, and it's way better that way. The main thing is, try not to get stuck behind a group of girls. If you are, hang back as much as you can.
  12. Did more mazes tonight. Wolf Pack - Great Club Blood - Sucked Holiday Horror - Sucked Cornstalkers - Pretty good Cornstalkers I will gladly give another chance. I was in front of a group of obnoxious 12 year olds. They liked the maze, but they were commenting loudly on everything, messing with my scares. I moved forward through the fog a little quicker than I would have liked to try and lose them. I read online that college age guys are the ones the actors tend to avoid because they are hard to scare - I'm a hardened horror veteran, so it's not easy, and I don't let my guard down. I need my monsters to either be a little more aggressive to unnerve me, or a little more startling. Or just scarier looking - I play the Silent Hill games. If one of those freaky demons from Nightmare Alley jumped out at me, I would probably scream. But I definitely want to be scared. It's disappointing when a maze doesn't scare you the first time because of circumstances (mostly the people are too close together, all the scares going to people in front of and behind me),. The second time is bound to be less scary, and each successive time after that even less so. Because the Wolf Pack masks were creepy, they were able to pull off more lingering scares. They can stare at you and get close to you without jumping out, and it's still unnerving.
  13. Board 2 Death is awesome, great costumes and scenery, made me jump a few times. Cool concept. Madame Fatale's Cavern of Terror is great. I did the early walkthrough on 9-8, so I predicted one scare. I wish that huge demon would move, though. It wasn't moving when I went through it. Urgent Scare was okay - I liked some of the effects. That buzzing siren gave me chills. Delta Delta Die and especially Tombstone Terror-tory are bad. With DDD, it's the scenery doesn't make a lotta sense. It doesn't look like a house. With Tombstone, it's that there really is very little scenery at all. Plus you have to wait in line for half an hour after you get off the train. The actors were giving it their all, but the scenery is lame. Oh yeah Backwoods Bayou - worth going through if you're headed that way, especially because there's no line. Very thick fog. Ed Alonzo was hilarious. Very raunchy, lots of sexy dance numbers, and some impressive tricks.
  14. Beast: Front left or back left, just as long as it looks like I'll be decapitated in the helix Diamondback: Back right - best airtime, and you can get wet on the splash! Racer: front right, red - view of Coney Mall at night Adventure Express: Back right - closer to the skeleton Flight of Fear: closer to the front the better Vortex: same as above Invertigo: front or back
  15. Yay, the back of my head is in CoasterBob's video! I was there the first Saturday night, the 22nd, in line for Cavern of Terror. I turn to the side at 12:14, right behind the zombie, black hoodie, brown hair. I'm in the still! Went tonight, going tomorrow night. Might even go Sunday morning! Oh yeah, and it's an awesome vid.
  16. Today I heard "Perfect" by The Smashing Pumpkins (which I've never heard anywhere outside of my own mp3 player before) and "All These Things That I've Done" by The Killers. That made my day. They've been playing "Just Give Me A Reason" by Pink a lot. Seems like kind of a dark song for a park to play. I heard an even darker one, something about "Will I let you be my savior/ or will I just drown?" I heard this old Foo Fighters songs that jogged my memory, but I can't remember what it was and I'm not sure I have it. It wasn't "My Hero" or "Everlong.," although I have heard "Everlong." Woot, it was "Big Me." Gotta add that to my main playlist.
  17. "I think that one must be The Python" - at the top of Eiffel Tower yesterday afternoon - adult said it - couldn't tell if he was referring to Diamondback or Backlot Stunt Coaster. "Those aren't real police cars, they're FAKE! The helicopter is FAKE!" - teenager referring to Backlot Stunt Coaster. "I think they might use Son of Beast's old footers for Banshee" - someone obviously enthusiastic about coasters speculating about Banshee in line for Delirium. And then there were the ride attendants - At Beast, the ride announcer said it reached a top speed of 98 mph. At Delirium, the ride announcer said "thank you for riding Giant Frisbee!"
  18. Just went on a solo trip again last night/tonight and I was really frustrated by the fireworks show. The loading station for Beast is about the worst place to watch it from. They started announcing it around 9:15 p, and every time it was like a two-minute announcement about how the ride will shut down at 9:45, and every time they stopped everything to make the announcement. I had wanted to get in line for Diamondback before 10, and if I'd made it onto the 9:40 train, I would have been able to ride Diamondback before going home. I gotta remember next time I go to a 10 pm closing night that the fireworks will really interfere with any last minute riding. I do think it's weird that they keep Racer going during the show but shut Beast down. Racer at least looks like it's closer to the fireworks than Beast. Anyone know where they launch from and what the deal is with that? Racer is wooden, so it could also catch fire. Why don't they shut it down?

I like alternative, indie, and classic rock, metal including death metal and black metal, and industrial (like hard stompy industrial). Those are my mainstays, but I also like some hip hop, trance, bluegrass, old country, new wave, and psychedelic rock.
  20. Yeah, I love Deftones and White Pony is one of my favorite albums of all time. Never heard them at the park, though. That would make my day
  21. Glad you guys liked my report, and thanks for the warm welcome.
  22. Firehawk/X-Flight. What's funny is that I rode it at Geauga Lake in 2005 and then rode it again when it came to Kings Island in 2008 without realizing it was the same ride I didn't like. I feel helpless and scared when on my back (and worried my wallet or phone will fall out) and feel like I'm going to fall out when I'm in the "flying" position. It doesn't feel like flying because those restraints press so heavily against me.
  23. I'm glad nobody was hurt, although that must have been a terrifying experience. I'm bummed that I'll probably never get to ride it before it gets torn down. Haven't been to CP since before they built Maverick. How in the heck did they survive being underwater for more than two minutes, though? Were they really under?
  24. These are the ones I like hearing "Firework" - Katy Perry "Carry On" - fun. (heard this on the way to the car, good timing) "Mountain Sound" and "Little Talks" - Of Monsters and Men "Slow Ride" - Foghat All of the major hits by The Cars, especially "Let's Go" Heard a lot of Creedence last night I like that I'm hearing more of a mix at the park. I seem to remember hearing mostly country music in the past.
  25. Um, how in the world would you not realize that naming the ride Katrina would be massively offensive, especially in a New Orleans themed area? I don't even see why you would call it Katrina except to offend people. I'm sure you're joking, it's just not funny. Anyway, I like this thread, so here are my ideas. Tear Down and replace: Congo Falls Firehawk (because it's nothing like flying ought to be) The Crypt warehouse-thingy (do something with it, it's ugly) Flight Deck Invertigo Dinosaurs! Alive - Plant more trees around Diamondback and Beast and everywhere in general - Build a genuinely scary dark ride that operates year round where Action Theater is - back in the back area so it doesn't interfere with other theming - Have the Boo Blasters illuminate where you're hitting, check the guns to make sure they work - Cut food prices in half - More midnight closings - Son of Beast would never be rebuilt - Red Racer would run backwards and they would always run both Racers - Individual ride Fast Lane passes instead of or in addition to all rides/whole day - Better mascots than Peanuts - Hanna Barbera was so much better - Add a wild mouse coaster - More theme stuff on the rides - Light up the trees around Vortex's batwings, green and purple - Lower the price of beer and have a better selection - More TVs in line/more mist fans for hot days - Early ride times on Flight of Fear - Change the name of what they used to call The Beastie back to Beastie - Lower rates for extended stays at nearby hotels - Get rid of Subway - Remove Mexican food from the park as it causes excessive gas among the farting line guests (I love Mexican food, but I don't love it when rude people eat it) - Chaos ride - Tofu added to menu in Asian cuisine - Robotic skeletons in the train scenery - Cotton candy on cones, not in bags - Get rid of Chick-Fil-A I'd probably bankrupt the park, though. EDIT: Add Giant Ferris Wheel Bring back the Skyride
