That is from the end of the Hot Blooded show. I haven't seen the show myself, but it's made me jump a couple times while waiting for or on Diamondback. Edit: My bad, I didn't read closely. I'm not sure about explosions from the Coney Mall area. Haven't heard those before.

SPOILER for something I wish would be, but is not... On Boo Blasters, I don't know why they don't put a scare actor in that section with all of the strobe lights and skeletons. Perhaps it's a safety thing, but that seems like the perfect place. There's plenty of room for an actor (dressed as a skeleton of course) to run at the cars to startle them without actually getting onto any moving parts.

Out with the new and in with the.... old?
LongLiveTheSmurfRide replied to SonofBaconator's topic in KI Polls
I voted "other" for an International Street overhaul. Instead of updating it with new stuff though, they should update it to how it looked and was treated back in the early days of KI. More detailed landscaping, emphasis on the theming of the different countries represented down the street, roaming performers and live bands. I think that would make IS an attraction in itself, a truly enchanted entry into Kings Island (comparable to Main Street at Disneyland) and not just a path to other parts of the park. -
I went last night as well. Very good weather for it. Arrived with my wife and friend around 8:30 and met up with my sister and her boyfriend. We hit CarnEvil first. A little underwhelming this year. I usually find it to be the most fun of them all with cool gimmicks, but perhaps it's just getting a little older or too familiar, but it wasn't quite as fun this year for me. Then we did Madame Fatale's which turned out to be the best house of the night for us. I'll give a little spoiler below (freakiest thing of the night), but right here I'll just say that it's got a great theme and inventive set ups. Then we went to Urgent Scare, which was kinda meh. As has been said before, mostly people just yelling "Ah!" at you you through countless rooms with people on hospital beds. There was a dude in a bloody hallway who only spoke in high pitch screeches though, and he was amusing so props to him for doing something different. Next was Wolf Pack. It was my first time through this one ever and it had a cool theme and a neat set up. Seems hard to believe that they fit all of it in the SOB station. Probably my second favorite of the night. While we were in that area we hit Slaughter House. Have to say, a little disappointed this year. Wasn't quite as scary as before. Not sure what it was, or wasn't about it, but it was a little "off" this year for me. Maybe I'll try it again in October. It's definitely missing something at the end where a certain someone used to be waiting just outside the exit. I tried to pick out Sam the Butcher, but couldn't so I didn't shout out. At that point (around 11) we were done with houses and went and rode Diamondback. It was my sister and her bf's first ride on it. Of course, they loved it. Then we rode The Beast which gave another great ride. We ended up leaving the park around 12:10 or so. Overall a great night. Can't wait to go back ***MILD SPOILER!*** My favorite thing of the night was in the queue for Madame Fatale. I'm not a TR/Crypt expert since I hated the ride, but when we got to the area inside the queue where it opens up and there's statues and whatnot; to the right there's a figure holding, I believe, a watering can that just keeps pouring water (like a fountain). But it was so dark over there I couldn't see exactly what it was. So I turn the flashlight on on my phone and flash it over and it is a statue-looking person (mask and all) and she (I believe it was a she) was staring right at me. I couldn't quite tell if it was a real person or a mannequin. I lowered the light then shined it back and the eyes were closed. I was like "sweet!". So I showed my group and I kept raising and lowering the light. Each time I'd put it up the eyes alternated between being open or closed, no matter how fast I did it, and always staring straight at me. That was very funny and very creepy. Then we walked a little further up the queue and I shined the light back at her one more time and she was still staring me down. At that point I stopped because she was freaking me out, lol. I'm assuming that's the whole purpose of her character since she's so far away from the line and it's so dark over where she is. So cool. Made my night.

I would trade you for your Twix's, but the candy that you live for I like as well. Hmm, we've come to an impasse. -

My favorite is Twix, usually. Skittles too. As far as my least favorite, I don't do nuts, so Baby Ruth and Snickers are out, but I could at least trade those for things that I liked. When it comes to candy that nobody wanted any part of, I'd have to say it's whatever these things are: Not sure who went to the store thinking these looked like something kids wanted, but they should be wiped from the earth. I also don't like Bit-O-Honey's or these guys: -
What is/was your favorite candy to get when you went Trick or Treating? That is, when you got your giant "haul" of candy, what was the one thing you really wanted, or traded for with siblings or friends? Parents, what candy do you steal from your kids bags? (Okay, maybe not steal, but "test" for them? You know you do it!) What's your least favorite candy that you try to trade off, or just toss when you see it in your bag? (No rocks, Charlie Brown)

Full size candy bars > pennies

We live at the end of a dead-end street full of older people, so when we first moved in a few years ago nobody decorated their houses and kids just passed our street by. I think our first year there we bought 3 big bags of candy because we were totally ready with our first house after living in an apartment aaaaaand we got maybe 15 kids. The next year we got a few more and a couple other people started decorating. Then last year we handed out full size candy bars and found that we got over 50 kids. So I'm hoping this year we'll get even more.

I went to one Haunt last year on a Saturday in mid October and both houses and rides were packed. It was later in the season, so it could have had something to do with it, but it certainly turned me off of going Saturdays for Haunt.

People afraid of clowns must be freaked out by your house. Got that big inflatable one right there in your yard. HEYOOOOOOOOOO!

I usually go all out on whatever night is "beggar's night" in Kettering with props, strobe lights, smoke machines and music; but I never really had a theme. Just put all of my props around the yard and people would compliment on how spooky it was. This past year I got quite a bit more stuff during the "after Halloween sales", including a lot of tombstones. So this Halloween I'll be setting up a graveyard in my front yard with some zombies and whatnot. I know, not the most original idea, but at least I have a theme to go with.

I rate myself at a 7. I'd say I'm more enthusiastic than the average joe, but I'm not near the top.

I went late Friday night because we just happened to be in the neighborhood. I believe it was after 11 when we got there. Wind was really whipping around so the fog around International Street was non existent and so were the lines. My wife just wanted to try out a house and maybe the scare zones so we went to Freak Street first. It was pretty well populated for how late it was on the first night. Very fun. Then we walked into Holiday Horror. It was pretty good, though at that point it seemed like there were less scare actors running around. Then we did Boo Blasters. Last year they had some scare actors in there to jump at you, but I only saw one in there this time and she was just leaning against the wall in mummy garb, but she didn't attempt to jump out or make a noise, which was disappointing. Then we went through Nightmare Alley. The eyes were cool but the lack of anything else going on there was not. We checked out the Blood Drums stage and then headed out. We're going again this Friday so we will wait to be surprised by the rest of the park. It didn't quite feel like Haunt to me that evening, but I think the wind keeping the fog from sticking around really took away the atmosphere. Can't blame the park for that though.

I look forward to Carnevil every year. It's the most fun haunt in my opinion. I just have a grin on my face the whole time I'm going through. Massacre Manor used to be a favorite but, like others have said, the theme has kind of gotten away from it in recent years. Slaughter House has quickly risen in my list. Last year was the first time I tried it and I thought it was very cool. Tombstone is just...ugh...I fall for it every year. I say to myself, "Myself? Maybe this year it will be awesome and they'll do something cool with it, and let's go get some pizza", but nope, the same sequence continues. Long wait. Train ride. Long wait. Long walk by crates that are too spread apart; some having a person hiding behind it to jump out and give a "rawr" and some don't. The only suspense comes from wondering, "Is someone hiding behind that box way over there?" and being disappointed with either outcome. It's almost like playing hide and seek, but the scare actors aren't the ones who are "it". I'm "it" and I'm looking for you to scare me, but you aren't doing it. Why aren't you doing it?! I'm going to go get some pizza now.

KI PTR 9/03/12: My 100th ride on Vortex!
LongLiveTheSmurfRide replied to VortexBFForever's topic in Trip Reports
Great PTR! After seeing your picture of the sign where you may lose your glasses to The Beast; I wonder if the The Beast has bad vision since it's always trying to take people's spectacles. Does it have a massive hoard of glasses, trying to find the best pair that brings out the color of its eyes?
