Whatever cd is in my stereo when I pull into the parking lot. Idk. I liked the 80's stuff that they played in the Festhaus. Maybe it's just cause I'm old enough to know pretty well every song they did. Banshee's lift music was pretty cool, too

Already been lucky enough to go on one coaster trip this year, so it's starting out pretty good. I know I'll go to KI and CP. KI frequently. Being just a couple hours from there, I love to go up on a Sunday morning. Saturdays are usually to crowded for me. I'd like to hit up a couple new parks within driving distance, but like my last trip, I probably won't have much planned until a couple weeks before, pretty spontaneous like that. And Camden Park. I usually try to hit it a couple times. Maybe more important, if not emotional, than it ever has. I also just love The Whip. Who knows, maybe I'll just run into ol' Terp there. That'd be neat.

Why at one park and not another? Visit a nice suburban park like Kings Island, then take a trip to Kennywood or Six Flags America. Long and short is that some parks really should screen their guests more intensely. Maybe that's not politically correct, but c'est la vie. The belt isn't removed because it could be a weapon. It's removed to ensure that it's not being used as a scapegoat for anything else with metal pieces. *scanner goes off* "Oh, that's just my belt." *flashes belt* "Oh, alright. C'mon in, then!" Notice that you take the belt off, then can put it back on once you've passed through security. They're not confiscating it; they're making sure that once the belt is off, you don't set off the scanner. Good thing they aren't taking it, I'd be walking through the park half naked. I went through the gate twice. Once I had to remove my belt, the other I did not. Needs to be consistant, I think. Like I said, I was never mad that I had to remove it. Do I think it's a little overboard? Maybe. Do I think it's possible for something to get by the detectors? Not everything is metal. I stand by my statement, it's just a belt.
-
Then why do it at one park and not the other? I mean I can see an airport, Pentagon, white house, etc, etc. Yea, I do believe safety is VERY important, always have. We're not even talking walk through detectors, they use wands, which go off whenever i runs over anything with metal in it. So it is kinda obvious when they wave the wand over it. But it's a belt. A belt on a guy going into an amusement park. And you can see it's just a belt. I've never seen a belt hurt anyone unless you take it off and use it as a weapon. Which I would never do anyway. Them detectors would be useless for that. I was never even mad that I had to do it. I mean I could see where someone would be, not everyone is as laid back as I am. And yes Terp, I know most buckles are made of metal.

Yea, I totally understand them detectors, 100% I do not see why taking your belt of makes any difference, at all.

Just had a thought..... I'm wondering if the island (where the tree and bushes have been planted) will feature The Peanuts Gang in shrubbery form. That'd be a great touch! I agree, plus I find it possible considering Cedar Point has the same thing. So did King's Dominion

Even more so with Ohio weather.....

^Could be worse. When I went to KD Friday I had to take my belt off to get past the wand. Asked me if I had one on before he even run the wand over me. Poor guy seemed really aggravated over it, said he got yelled at for not doing it with prior customers. Did not have to do it a Carowinds, though. I hope that's the only time I have to do it.

That pic just looks strange for some reason, can't quite figure out what it is, though.... Tried to watch the video, just say's it doesn't exist.

Great trip, only real regret was I didn't get to do it while Shockwave was still standing. Love riding coasters I have never rode before, got to knock alot off the list this weekend. Rode eveything but Nighthawk. It went down a few times, and when it went back up it was a two hour wait. Carowinds was very busy Saturday. Would have like to rode Hurler. Volcano was the best I rode all weekend. Really liked The Intimidator's. Don't think I had a bad ride on a coaster all weekend. I will never ride The Crypt or anything like it again. Still haven't found any of my friends or family that can hang with me ridin' coasters. Thank's to you guys for takin time out of your days for the advice, it really was a great trip. Here's to a great summer and season coming up!

Day two startin. 13 hours of drivin and 6 states in less than 24 hours. KD was pretty good Volcano and I-305 were great coasters. Park was a little smaller than I thought it would be. Been raining pretty hard this morning. Right across the street from Carowinds.

Or Virginia. Cruise control will be my friend. Phil, who does not wanna get fined or tazed this weekend -
Two trips really stand out in my mind... My first ever trip was back in '84. i remember cause it was the year King Cobra opened. Matter of fact it was closed because of some kind of wheel problem. I was just fascinated with it. Anyway mom had takin me and my sister to Camden Park and of course our county fair the few years prior, and I was just in love with being on about any ride I could. I was to little to ride any of the "big" coasters but loved The Beastie. Being I was only 7 years old at the time, I don't remember every little thing that we did. but I remember a good bit of it. I loved the Flintstone bumper cars, as well as the Smurfs Enchanted Voyage, Being mad that I wasn't tall enough to ride Racer. Lookin at The Bat and tryin to figure out how in the world it worked. The worst part was, of course the drive there (to a 7 year old, it seemed like forever) . It was truly a great day of my childhood. And mom loved coasters. Guess that's where I get it from.. And then the first trip I got to take my kids in '09. My oldest two were just tall enough to ride anything in the park, (my daughter was like 54 and 1/4 inches) and I got to do with my kids what my mom did for me years ago. Couldn't get my boy to go on DB, my daughter did and cried about half way up the lift, but loved it after that. She even done here science fair project on KI that year. And me and my boy have a few trips planned this year. I love that place........

Remember in 2013 on opening day when everyone walked in and seen the fence and the signs? This may not be one of those times.

Wouldn't you think the monitors would make it safer? I would think it would give the crew a better idea of what's going on with the restraints instead of having to wait on the driver to tell them about them. But I can see what Terp is sayin, too. -

So I'm kinda doin my mapping out, and it looks like I-64 runs right smack into Kings Dominion. Which is gonna be the route I'm taking. So my question is, The toll booths, anyone have any idea what they charge? Are they all the same price? I'm sure they probably want exact change, I have no idea, never been on a toll road in my life......

Had to switch cards last year. Looks like I'm gonna have to again here soon. I called and got put on with guest relations (I think). Very quick and easy. The lady I talked to was very helpful and friendly. I tell ya. That payment plan is the best thing since sliced bread.

Terp, yes the LaRosa's in Jackson is still open. Guess it's doin pretty good. The dozen or however many stores they bought are down in Ky and Wva, don't think they bought Anything here.
