Cedar Point 2016 Talk
WindingSon replied to Bansheeback's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
There's a reason they're called Dive coasters. Outside of the dive, there isn't much else to get excited about. They're still fun though, and people LOVE them. That dive is a huge draw. -
I hope my previous post on this didn't come off as cold but I just had a problem with the tone of the article. I sympathize with the guest with the disability and would never wish they are discriminated from things they are able to do as a result. I feel KI and other parks can be inconsistent with their policies. They can do better. But the tone of the article is a bit ridiculous and pompous. Like they want KI to bend the rules just for them, without seeing why KI would have no interest in doing that. And if KI won't do it, then they deserve to lose business.

You cannot please everyone. I'm glad he did some research before coming but that's a situation where I would have called. Obviously it's hard to tell until the person is in front of you whether or not they can ride before they're at the park, so I empathize with the writer and the park there. But, to say that Six Flags uses manufacturers that have "better" policies is silly. They have a TON of B&M coasters for one, and two I'd be concerned that they wouldn't be following the manufacturer guidelines. I hope the writer understands that. Kings Island did not set out to make his day bad, it's just an unfortunate side effect of their emphasis on safety. It sounds like Guest Services could have handled it better by offering a refund but leap-frogging manufacturer's rules should not be on the list because that's a slippery slope they don't want to go down. What if the rider removed their brace, rode Banshee and got off the ride more injured than before? Whose fault would that be?

Does Kings Island's All Season Dining Plan Affect Other Businesses?
WindingSon replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Baffling to me that Reds has some of the best food at some of the cheapest prices. I can get a decent meal there for $10 or less. -
Most of the Cincinnati area schools go back the day Kings Island stops daily operation.

Does Kings Island's All Season Dining Plan Affect Other Businesses?
WindingSon replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
I'd think the inconvenience of leaving the park outweighs waiting a few extra minutes for food within the park. I don't think there's many who would. When I'm in the park, the last thing I want to do is leave and come back and have to re-park. The only time I leave is if I'm not coming back. -
I get it. I was just feeling selfish that day.

Yep. Personally, I found CP's Fast Lane makes you wait too long to ride again. On the Force, Raptor, and TTD that is. At least a 15 minute wait on a busy day. Maverick however, was 5-10 at most with FL. KI seems to be more consistent as their FL takes you either to the station or into the station.

No email address, but here's a form you can fill out: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/contact-us I used it earlier this season to complain about the app's battery use and got a response so it is read.

Yeah, you're probably right. -
Cedar Point Analyst Day
WindingSon replied to thekidd33's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
At least that Kingdom will probably be open next year. That's a probably though. -
I went into it exactly once this year to show my girlfriend the white spots where the Paramount history used to be. That's it. It does seem like a big smoking area that a flat could go into. Or a store or restaurant.

That's right, and therefore CF seems to think it's time for Carowinds to step up and be a top tier park in the company, like CP, KI, CW, KBF, etc. Carowinds had been seen previously as a park that would get a certain amount of attendance and that was it. Now, CF believes that with the right new attractions, it can grow to be something more. It's got a lot of catching up to do to be seen as big as CW, KI, or CP but there's no reason it won't get there. I wonder if with CF's lack of current financial woes though, if they'll be investing more in their parks all around. They're not struggling like they were 5 years ago. Obviously they won't invest just to invest, but this is definitely not the Kinzel era anymore.

I am curious to see the transformation of Carowinds from local spot to national recognition. It's going to take some game-changing attractions to do so. Fury 325 was a start, but it's also easy to argue that it's just a taller version of what we've seen already. In my eyes, Carowinds needs something really special to breakout. Oh, it needs to be FUN too. If they're on the right track, that'll be coming soon.

It IS an internationally known park (if for nothing but The Beast) but it's nothing more than a regional theme park and it will continue to be so into the future. I don't know where the idea it wouldn't came from.

Not a good year for these rides. http://news.google.com/news/url?sa=t&fd=R&ct2=us&usg=AFQjCNETfTGAkcNXUrm6hXnn4_RP7HxGNg&cnm=a272426d351454f0e30df6b365c65d9f&sr=1&clid=a272426d351454f0e30df6b365c65d9f&cid=52778922220075&ei=j-LIVaCWA-e0wAGa_4CgDQ&sig2=TWsm7mGq1CJcAePkHARIuw&rid=58749640-cd42-4377-879a-a3cb7578d76f&url=http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-3192356/Terrifying-moment-cable-slingshot-ride-SNAPPED-catapulted-thrillseekers-air-French-theme-park.html

You have a way of making someone feel jealous. Not accusing you of bragging. That's awesome.

Curious, why the long drive for KI? Or do you travel the same amount to others just as much? Also, KI is quite literally the closest amusement park to me. Just a bit over a 2 hour drive. Second closest is only a few minutes difference. That's Indiana Beach. Never been.

There are ways they could improve. Every park could improve. Disney perfection comes at a Disney price. This is only half-true. The only barrier for me not visiting the park more is my location. Any closer and I'd have the dining plan. As long as the price is right and the thrills keep flowing, I'll probably keep coming back. I'm lucky to have had good luck when it comes to food lines and customer service. Let's hope that improves, since talk is cheap.

Shockwave closing at KD
WindingSon replied to Aaron88stang's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Welcome back riders, how was that ride? RIP Shockwave. May your successor last as long as you did. -
That's pretty funny. Wonder if there was an uninformed associate who told them that or just uninformed guests.
