Can anyone confirm they aren’t willing to produce the parts? I feel like They’d still be willing to make the parts but since there’s not a lot of flying Dutchman’s the parts just cost a ton of money. I feel like that’d be the more likely situation rather then the fact they won’t make the parts.

I know absolutely nothing about "the business", but Cedar Fair seems to love B&M. I'm guessing a big part of that is because they work well for years and years at the set price, rather than something they have to throw money at constantly. It would make sense, but again...I have no real idea.

The whole parts thing has me a bit confused.   It is one thing if Whirlpool stops making parts for a dishwasher after 10 years.  It is completely different if a manufacturer stops supplying parts after 18 years for a multi million dollar piece of equipment.  If this is true then the Vekoma is telling all its customers that if you buy a new design from us it has a service life of under 20 years and then you probably have to scrap it.

I find this difficult to beleive.

I don't know either, but I figure they stop making parts when there aren't anymore buyers for said parts.

No no, like the tombstones of rides and people who left in 1979, we're all newly and specifically marked this year, sure theyve marked tombstones before, but, this was a new thing, a planned thing, to mark every single ride or person gone in 1979 with the symbol, what we could be seeing here is an overarching story around the parks "cryptids" as they're called, similar to the story aspects were seeing at other parks in the chain!

English Bro'. What do YOU think is coming and going at Kings Island?

Unless you believe in the KK relocation theory where FH is being moved an hour and a half south. However, I agree that they usually warn people before a coaster leaves.

If that were the case, I doubt they would take the stance of, "well, we just got rid of it without letting you know, but if you really love it just go to Kentucky Kingdom".

  5. I can't imagine them removing a major coaster without telling the public well in advance so those who love it can ride it to their heart's content before it goes away. That would just be really rude. At this point I think the Big Brown Box is going bye-bye. Or something else the park doesn't think is much of a big deal enough to forewarn us.

  6. No idea what is leaving, but I cannot possibly imagine them removing Vortex without letting everyone know well, well in advance to get many rides in. The younger folks here might not feel that way, but some of us remember the hype before and as it was being built. It was a big freakin' deal, and still stands in one of the most photogenic spots in the park.

I see a multilevel parking garage, a city center with theaters and hotels, a “downtown” area with year round shops, an additional theme park and expansion of Soak City into a year round inside resort.

Is there a Kings Island opening in Dubai, or are we still talking about the one off I-71

  8. Is this a family-friendly event? Sorry if that's a stupid question. Every year I think about taking our family. We're very traditional, but have no beef with different lifestyles. I've always worried we would be crashing someone else's party, that's all.

I would kill for a Haunt show a cut above the rest.  The clip of Haunted Homecoming posted on here from another park, really left me unimpressed.  Change for the sake of change isn't always good.  I'm hoping it will be different, or even just better music than the other park.  If not just bring back Hot Blooded.  I so wish, and exptressed to the park to bring back an Ed Alonso level show.  It was great.  I want a show like that or  the former Elvira show @ Knotts, Midnight Syndicate, ect.

Did someone say "Elvira show"? Wait...just watched some youtube videos. Whoa. Oh my...that's fantastic! We definitely need some "Mistress of the Dark" at Kings Island! My dad will certainly pay to attend as well...

Do any of you on here go today or yesterday and how bad we're the crowds. What has the wait times been and more specifically how busy is Planet Snoopy. Don't know if I want to make myself miserable in the heat if she only gets on 3 rides.

Just be there early at opening, ride several rides, and then leave if it gets too busy, stay longer if it's not. My family does this all the time. You never know about crowds but yes, it's gonna be hot this weekend.

Who voted for Surf Dog? I will fight you!

I also voted Backlot Stunt Coaster though. It's capacity is horrid for how short of a ride it is. The only real enjoyable part is just after the helicopter. From what I hear rollbacks are more common then they should.

LOL. I voted for Surf Dog. I've got 3 kids, and we've only rode it 2-3 times over the past 6 years. We all ride Stunt Coaster though! My 10-year-old son loves it. It's his favorite. But we all enjoy it.

If you take all the Planet Snoopy rides out of the equation I would probably vote for Firehawk. I just don't like it at all.

I have 3 words for you all...Flying GIGA Coaster! Thoughts?

I think it'd be awesome! If they're going to make a Giga and spend all that money they might as well make it really unique. Flying Coaster, Stand-up Coaster, Dive, whatever. As a fan of Top Thrill Dragster, I often wish someone would take that launch-into-a-Strata idea, and then build a big coaster after the drop instead of slamming on the brakes. At least we can dream...

  13. So basically your step-dad tried to kill you at age 9. Kidding! I'm glad folks have such fond memories of it. I do too---I rode it, and lived another day. Rode it some more, against my body's best advice. Some didn't even get that chance. I'll forever feel it had to go, though. And should not come back. Just one of those things.

  14. I guess I'll go against the grain and say I didn't find it very pretty or aesthetically pleasing at all. Intimidating to look at? Holy heck---you bet. Ride experience? Scariest coaster I've ever been on, though I am not an enthusiast that travels park to park just for coasters. For me it was just the helix that was so scary. It felt so unsafe, and you had to really use your muscles to get through it. I've never been on anything else like it.
