IMO, I don’t think Coney Mall needs any more flat rides. Why the fascination with adding more flat rides there? How about the park add them in the other sections like Rivertown. All that place has is roller coasters and 2 non stationary rides. The spot where the dolphin and seal show would be is a great site for a flat ride and where the Crypt building is.

I wanted to click the love button, but then I thought about it. Flat rides in Rivertown? Meh. Might be better than the soccer game and basketball goals honestly. I feel like Adventure Express belongs in Rivertown. Not so sure about flat rides. Although it is not perfect, I like how the park is broken down into different genre's. Flat rides = Coney.

It was super hot. I think that’s what kept people away until later when it got cooler and fireworks happened.

Perhaps. I can't count on fingers or toes how many busy sweltering hot days I've been at the park. The 4th was dead. For reasons I couldn't quite wrap my head around. It wasn't an especially hot day, this 4th.

My best advice is just show up to the park and don't worry about the crowds and have fun.  Some days this year I have went expecting it to packed and the park wasn't too bad at all and other days just the opposite.  YOu never know what to expect when it comes to predicting crowds.

True story. We thought about going 4th of July, but then backed out fearing it would be packed. The webcams showed us the park was dead---I mean dead---4th of July. And the weather was fine. Shocker. It's on my calendar for next year---we're going 4th of July.

  4. Following the weather is always a great plan. "Bad" forecast = less crowded. However, I'll be there this Saturday and Sunday with my family. And we're expecting it to be relatively crowded. I think Labor Day is a good option. So many people make other plans for the actual holiday. Like us. Saturday and Sunday 9/1 and 9/2 will be busy. Then most folks will take Monday 9/3 as a relaxation day rather than driving/waiting in lines at the park. Just my 2-cents.

As someone who has frequented this site since 2006, I think I can say that the vast majority of us enjoyed having Terpy on the site and miss him and his and his unique humor, wit, and sarcasm. A jerk he most definately was not.

I'm new-ish. And I thought he was a jerk. Not personally. He's probably a fine guy. Just here. On what I consider a blog. I'm probably a jerk on here, too. I just didn't like his posts. Did nothing for me.

I don't think this was the case. i believe it's an issue with his work not wanting him to have a presence online. He had mentioned a day when he might not be allowed to post on here long before he actually left.

    Someone knows...

Fair enough. But at its best his interpreting basically amounted to, "If a new coaster is going to make them money, it's coming, if not...maybe we'll get some other good stuff". He never provided much info, just pompous about what he knew but couldn't tell. As he told us over and over (and over) again. "Those who know can't tell". What a jerk!

I honestly think that there might be a chance in the near future. Probably not anytime soon but eventually. It does seem like Cedar Fair might be trying to correct some of the stuff that people say Paramount did wrong (like bringing back the antique cars) and redoing Son of Beast right would definitely do that. Plus, a ground up RMC remake would be pretty sweet. Then they could actually have a loop in it and not have to worry about it :)

Son of Beast hurt people. They tore it down. Dang near top of the list of recent memories they don't want random guests to think about or enter into a Google search. I just don't think there's any chance.

  8. The wedding ring rule seems silly to me for sure. I have no idea, but I wonder if maybe there was an incident on a similar ride somewhere? At which point the park's insurance company gets involved and demands the new rule?  Who knows?

  9. A lot of people were worried about this all-season thing being too cheap, and creating crazy-long ride queue times. From what I can tell that's not the case at all. The park just pocketed some serious cash, and those who have the pass don't have to wait during their visits. No harm no foul?  I love FL+, and have purchased it several times in the past...but cannot justify $500/year living 3-hours away and getting maybe 7-15 visits per season, often quiet Sundays. For those who bought it, and make use of it...what a deal!  Good for them. I think it's a win-win for everyone honestly.

  10. Yeah, every day is different, but practically all of my "greatest days" at Kings Island have been when the weather was sketchy. Sometimes it feels like you have the park rented out to you and your family when everything is a walk-on---and it's amazing. I was there Sunday. It was not an empty park, but the threat of rain definitely enabled us to get a lot of rides in, and we were gone by 1:30pm just because. Just looking at the webcams tonight I can tell the park is empty and there's another hour+ to go. And it's dry, but hasn't been all day. It's amazing how many rides you can get in quickly when there's no lines!

Can someone put this into a simulator, and tell us the speed and g-forces at the bottom of the first drop? lol

"Can you give me the 5 dollars in change in quarters? I want to monopolize the white water canyon geysers" (unknown guest at my sales window)

    Of course I obliged. ;)

Not sure 2 minutes constitutes a monopoly, but...been there, done that.

  13. The holiday period Thanksgiving all the way thru New Year's is so heavily built on family traditions. And it's busy. I just hope KI hangs in there with Winterfest, and gives everyone time to make the park a part of tradition. I hope Winterfest made them money last year, but I have no idea. But one would think this is surely a years-long investment, and attendance numbers will go up as the years progress so long as they promote it well.
