I don't know what they are doing and what they are not doing, but all I've seen is the removal of the chain link fence and installing oval shaped curbed section, to fill with dirt and presumably make planters out of them. If they are repaving, why did they go across the majority of the parking lot and already repaint all the parking stalls.
-
They aren't "redoing" the lot. The fence that ran from the waterpark parking, around the employee parking and to the front gate almost has been torn out and they are putting up planters just about the whole length.

Picnic Grove makes way too much money every year to take any of it away. The large shelter right against the walkway to the waterpark would have to be removed and they don't have any other room to put it anywhere else back there since the train is on one side and White Water Canyon is on the other side. Now if they take the Nick Theatre out, there is plenty of space between the back of it and the picnic grove that any ride could be put in its place and the "backlot" behind it.

Oh really.. I think I can take her. Bring it Kimmie T.

Just talking about your bubbly personality. Must give Steve lots of entertainment and never a dull moment.
-
Wow, I know how Kim is. That must be a fun ride every day for Steve.

The AMERISUITES - DEERFIELD CROSSING is a hotel that has been around for many years off 71 between the the Fields Ertle exit and the Western Row exit.

Uh... people have already started to see what is goin on (I've been back in the park since last week) We just ain't sayin.

Hmmm, could this mean new construction photos coming soon too.

How about Saturday only from 10am-4pm. Anyone there for food service will see me interviewing. All food warehouse interviews will go through me then rescheduled to interview with warehouse. Don't forget there is a math test, aparently for all new applicants this year. 13 questions, you are allowed to miss up to 5. It has a few simple problems and some word problems.

That water speed bump does different things to different loads. I've ridden it mostly with a lot of other skinny people and you'll about fly off the tube. Just ask Dan. Other tubes with more weight may just rip through or over it without really noticing. Think of a normal speed bump in a parking lot. When you go really slow over it (ie the skinny people in the tube) you notice the height difference the bouncing of the car as you go over. But if you go REALLY fast (not recommended for shorter cars) you really just don't notice it as much as your shocks will take up most of the force when its at high speed though not recommended cause it can do damage to your car and wear out the shocks faster.

I don't see them getting rid of the train all together either but I think it should go more around the park and stop in other areas. But on the point of people wanting to take it easy getting back to the park or getting to the waterpark. Do they not realize that its shorter a walk from the front of the park to the waterpark entrance than it is to walk back to the train and wait in line for the train and all that hassle?

I know this topic is about being a rides associate, but some info if anyone wants to be in food, or maybe other money locations. New this year in the hiring process for food service will be a math test. Obviously, since math is involved in the day to day job functions, it only makes sense (and we've been harassing HR about it for years) to ensure that your employees can do math in their heads in a short period of time. Seeing as how that is now being added to the employement process, I do not know if anything else is being added the process for all departments or other specific stuff for say rides or anything else.

Attract the same crowds they get during the summer?? Thats impossible. Not every thing would be open and people know that. When winterfest was around before mostly just Area Managers and Supervisors worked the food stands (don't know about the other departments). Since mainly only stuff up front of the park is open and its not as busy during the Winter than it is during the Summer, not the same amount of staff is needed. So with less people coming to the park, and less people working, and less attractions open, there definetly can be a profit made. Profit was made back in the old days. It was done away with cause Paramount didn't know anything about running that stuff, like they didn't know anything about the hotel business at the time, so they sold off the hotel also. They know some people will come from like Kentucky and Indiana and maybe other parts of Ohio because of the name but they sure know that they won't get as many people during the summer since not everything is open and... not everyone enjoys "Christmas Lights" or the cold.

If you wanna eat up there definetly sign up for the Nights of Fire dinner. Food is yummy, view is better than sitting down on the ground in front of the Fountain cause its less crowded and you can see over the trees. Plus they pump the music in up there so its not like you don't get the full experience. About opening up again as a full time place during the summer, I don't see that happening anytime soon. At least I haven't heard any talk about it. If they do start Winterfest again like everyone is saying I'd see them opening that up. I don't see why they wouldn't. Its in-doors and heated, so people would rather go up there and eat than say go to International Street Pizza and have to eat outside. It would definitly bring in the people so they can get out of the cold.

Well I didn't see Delirium this year, but last year they did actually remove a section or two of the ring, which the seat are basically set into. I believe.
-
They removed most if not all of the seats on Delirium last year. Since its a ring with individual sections that are bolted together, it is best to remove a couple sections to allow for the expansion and contraction during cold weather, just to make sure it doesn't loosen bolts or weaken the bolts in the process. On the note of the tower, Shaggy eluded to things in the "aerial photos" if you looked hard enough. In one you can see a snorkel lift (its what its call, the little person crane that is movable....) under the base of the tower. Its been there as soon as the season ended starting to sand blast off the paint and put primer on. When I was in the park at the begining of December for the Adventures for Wish Kids event you could see paint chips that had floated around the park. You can also see a section of the 50ft platform that is orangey-brown from outside the park.

You have to remember that most of the land behind where the camp ground currently is, is also owned by private people, or some of the playing/practice fields for Kings High School. The Kings land is/was being dug up to remove large quantities of lead deposits from skeet shooting that was done on the land many years ago. Let me tell you have safe that sounds to be sleeping on that ground.

Yeah, its for Busch Gardens. The two other coasters B&M are building this year are either done, or are green track and almost done. Silver Bullet in California had similar colored track but had a yellow spine. It is also done and open to the public. Hydra in PA I think is about done so all the track should be on site by now. I've stopped checking the plant that makes the track once I know which parks they are going to and what color each one will be.

They always put the disclamer that hours are subject to change. Who knows, maybe they'll suprise us in August or something and say no Fearfest but yes Winterfest. I never got to make it to a Winterfest. It'd be cool to see all those lights and stuff that they put up and everything. Uh... if you look at the calender closely it appears to be a little messed up. Or last year's calendar. Opening weekend of Saturday April 9, thru Monday April 11th? Or the next weekend of Sunday April 17th and Monday April 18th?
-
Not quite true Dan. There will be more changes than you know of. Only a few are definite but there may be many. I know. I've seen.
-
I predict a new ride for '05, possibly a coaster, but thats just a wild guess. I also predict a new Paint Job for a few big metal objects in the park. Lastly I predict lots of lights, cold air, and holiday fun for everyone in 2005.

This idea isn't gone. Corporate is still trying to study up on some hotel management first.

Looking back at the pics on the linked on the last paged... As of last Sunday no footers had been poured.. that I saw. Since Monday I've seen Cement trucks rolling in and out all day, but now I'm no longer highered and I won't be back until January something. I really should make sure I have my 10 months off a year for being a "seasonal" associate.

Ah the marketing techniques of Paramount Parks. Those boys (and girls) sure know how to attract attention all year long .. with their ads.
