Apparently a 10 year old male from Virgina in the early 80's. And I wouldn't necessarily call a kid who couldn't watch Saturday morning cartoons for a year because of this incident a jackass. He obviously felt bad about it. Theres no doubt that he shouldn't have done it but you shouldn't make a hasty generalization about a guy on something that happened over 20 years ago. Otherwise it was a good article.

 Yeah...it's not like this guy got into a fight with Huckleberry Hound last week. Personally, I can think of quite a few "jack ass" things I did when I was ten...(and, even older! ;) )

I looked at it more as a "coming of age" type story. I found it interesting how his memories of KD as a child interact with the reality of the theme park business today.

Intresting article.

I would just make the suggestion to the writer to expand his horizons to other big parks. It was easy to tell that he does not frequent parks often.

^ That's actually what I liked about it. This guy is clearly not a park enthusiast (he hadn't even been to his home park in years), so it gives a glimpse into how the average member of the GP thinks about things.

Most people can't tell (or care about) the difference between a B&M and an Intamin, or an S-curve and an a banked turn. I think those of us who participate in these enthusiasts boards tend to lose sight that most people don't find these things nearly as interesting as we do. However, it's these non-enthusiast members of the GP that make up the main customer demographic of the parks, so I think it's useful to hear that perspective.

I don't know...maybe I'm overthinking it, but I actually prefer hearing a non-enthusiast's thoughts on these kind of things most of the time.

The guy learned his lesson, however, in today's age, the character wouldn't have gotten away with the retaliation even if it was justified. He would have been sued or worse.

And, suprisingly enough, wasn't what the article was about to begin with...

Of course, I don't think Moby Dick is really about a whale either.

Some can't see the forest for the trees.

At least until recently, Cedar Fair had ways of helping those people. Many ways, actually.
