New ride for 2008?

Featured Replies

That would be so sweet if they put a coaster out in the woods by The Beast keeping most of the trees. Where did this rumor originate from? Also what is a gigacoaster?

A giga coaster has a drop of 300ft.

Although I would love to see one at KI, I am doubting this rumor. From what I have read and know, Millennium Force was 25 million to build and steel has gone up in price since then. Not to mention CF doesn't exactly have a lot of money to throw around.

There is an article in one of these posts thatt have Cedar Fair stating that they will be spending somewhere between 80-90 million between 2008-2009.

I definitely can guarantee, unless B&M have changed their policies, that they will not be building a gigacoaster at KI. Intamin on the other hand...

Whodey, that's 40 mill per year split between many parks. Between 13 parks, not including waterparks, that's only about 3 mill. Not enough to buy a 25 mill gigacoaster.

I wonder what the name of the new coaster will be? Chances are it will have something with "Hawk" on the end of it! LOL!

Canada's Wonderland is not getting a GL transport. A brand spankin new B&M.

I wonder if Kings Island will get a clone of this coaster in 2009 or 2010?

I hope not... cloning is a dumb idea if you ask me. Sure, it's easy and cost-effective to use an already-existing design and re-use it. But shouldn't every park have unique rides to draw visitors from all over the country, rather than having the same rides in a different place?

I don't think cloning is that bad of an idea. Most of the GP aren't even aware of that fact.

That's true, but that would only add to the disappointment, in my mind. Say a person goes to a Six Flags park routinely and rides Batman The Ride. Then after several years, they decide to go on vacation and hit another Six Flags park, expecting all new rides. Then they find the same Batman The Ride there. It seems like they'd be upset because they paid all that money to go see something new, and could almost just go to the park near their home and get the same thing.

On another note: I just got a call from my friend who works at KI, and he said that he saw some inverted coaster track going north on 275, probably from the B&M place in Batavia. Could KI possibly be getting a new inverted coaster? I don't think it would be for Thunderhawk at Michigan's Adventure, unless they had to refabricate some of the pieces. Interesting......

It's not that it's bad. If it's a good design, sure go ahead. But having 47 clones of the same coaster (vekoma boomerang) is taking it a bit far.

As DVO said, you should have unique desings to draw people.

And here's a thought: Can you imagine 47 Son of Beasts across the country?

Can you imagine all the times that would could go around the entire earth and make a covering lol

I have heard this same rumor and I am leaning more towards it. I don't care if it goes near Beast, over Beast, or under Beast, we need a big name steel coaster, besides the love of my life Vortex :P .

Does anyone know when Kings Island will say anything about next year. When I got my season pass they did not know anything. You think if they where tring to sell a pass they would say hey we are getting a new ride.

Actually my love life is with the canadian geese .. err i mean uhh the uh yeah the railroad lol =^)

How could he tell that it was inverted coaster track. How can anyone tell until its built. As far as I know, hyper coaster track and inverted track looks the same until its erected.

^ Yep. I couldn't tell any of the X-Flight pieces wether they were inverted or just flipped!

^Not only that. CF would not be calling B&M for additional Vekoma track pieces.

My Crystal Ball says for 2008

New Water Attraction for Boomerang Bay

40 Acre Campground

New G trains on Beast

That is all.

Chuck

^ My crystel ball says your crystel ball has a screw loose. SOB is getting new trains, not Beast!

My Crystal ball knows all :)

Sometimes the hardest thing to do is not to comment when someone leaves you a line just begging for a response, but on this board, there ARE limits! :)

Thunderhawk from GL is a vekoma SLC remember? Clermont steel only fabricates track for B&M designs.

Son of Beast just got new 'to it' trains....which had to be modified especially for it.

I ment that it's getting a RWB train.

3 trains = awesome hourly capacity = more SOB rides!

My crystal ball says were getting a dune buggy track
