New ride for 2008?

That would be so sweet if they put a coaster out in the woods by The Beast keeping most of the trees. Where did this rumor originate from? Also what is a gigacoaster?

A giga coaster has a drop of 300ft.

Although I would love to see one at KI, I am doubting this rumor. From what I have read and know, Millennium Force was 25 million to build and steel has gone up in price since then. Not to mention CF doesn't exactly have a lot of money to throw around.

There is an article in one of these posts thatt have Cedar Fair stating that they will be spending somewhere between 80-90 million between 2008-2009.

I definitely can guarantee, unless B&M have changed their policies, that they will not be building a gigacoaster at KI. Intamin on the other hand...

Whodey, that's 40 mill per year split between many parks. Between 13 parks, not including waterparks, that's only about 3 mill. Not enough to buy a 25 mill gigacoaster.

I hope not... cloning is a dumb idea if you ask me. Sure, it's easy and cost-effective to use an already-existing design and re-use it. But shouldn't every park have unique rides to draw visitors from all over the country, rather than having the same rides in a different place?

That's true, but that would only add to the disappointment, in my mind. Say a person goes to a Six Flags park routinely and rides Batman The Ride. Then after several years, they decide to go on vacation and hit another Six Flags park, expecting all new rides. Then they find the same Batman The Ride there. It seems like they'd be upset because they paid all that money to go see something new, and could almost just go to the park near their home and get the same thing.

On another note: I just got a call from my friend who works at KI, and he said that he saw some inverted coaster track going north on 275, probably from the B&M place in Batavia. Could KI possibly be getting a new inverted coaster? I don't think it would be for Thunderhawk at Michigan's Adventure, unless they had to refabricate some of the pieces. Interesting......

It's not that it's bad. If it's a good design, sure go ahead. But having 47 clones of the same coaster (vekoma boomerang) is taking it a bit far.

As DVO said, you should have unique desings to draw people.

And here's a thought: Can you imagine 47 Son of Beasts across the country?

How could he tell that it was inverted coaster track. How can anyone tell until its built. As far as I know, hyper coaster track and inverted track looks the same until its erected.

Thunderhawk from GL is a vekoma SLC remember? Clermont steel only fabricates track for B&M designs.
