Ride like to Behemoth coming to KI?

Recommended Posts

I was on CedarFair.com and i noticed this...

The Company also reported that it will invest $21 million at Canada’s Wonderland for the 2008 operating season, highlighted by the addition of a new roller coaster. The new thrill ride, to be named Behemoth, will be the park’s biggest investment in its 27-year history and will be the longest, fastest and tallest roller coaster in Canada. Behemoth will climb to a height of 230 ft. or 70 m., followed by an 85-degree drop with speeds reaching 77 mph or 125km/h. Riders will experience high speed twists and turns while enjoying the roller coaster’s new open-air seating that will allow all riders to experience unobstructed views of all the thrills and excitement. “Behemoth will be a great addition to our Canadian park and will bring a whole new type of thrill riding to the area, something we hope to introduce at the newly acquired parks over the next several years,” said Kinzel

The last sentence says : “Behemoth will be a great addition to our Canadian park and will bring a whole new type of thrill riding to the area, something we hope to introduce at the newly acquired parks over the next several years,” said Kinzel

The newly acquired parks are Paramount, and so maybe we could get something like Behemoth soon..?

It would be cool if we got either the tallest, longest, fastest inverted roller coaster.. Or that B&M dive machine i designed, or... another wooden roller coster taller than SOB, and have the steepest drop on a wooden roller coaster.

=]

i couldn't see eather being put at ki just because of who ownes the park now for the steel it is because i dought Cedar Fair would pass that up with Cedar Point being their main park and i dought any wooden coaster taller than sob just because they have payed out the butt to keep Son of Beast alive then again they have kept top thrill and that was a big problem too

hey angrymobeaver go to my forum could Son of Beast accident been avoided and see if you think it is plausable

Could that be the longest run on sentence ever?

Yes, as a general rule, you should at least attempt to use proper grammar and spelling. It makes reading the forums easier for everyone involved. And I`ll admit that your sentence was rather brutal to read.

some times i just get typing to fast and my fingers add and remove words that make my senteces hard to read trust my i sometimes have difficulties reading my senteces

Can we get back to topic...?

sure and sorry i just don't see Cedar Fair doing eather of your suggestions for Kings Island.

i know Cedar Fair is known for there parks with record breaking rides but Kings Island was the top paramount park and Cedar Point is Cedar Fairs top park and now Kings Island is the one with the shorter stick so we will have to get use to start geting things after Cedar Point

but hopefully we will not end up the same way that geauga lake has

and expecially with a taller Son of Beast just because top thrill was such a problem and Son of Beast was like fifty times a bigger problem and i don't think that Cedar Fair will build another 200 foot tall wooden coaster or another 400 foot tall steel coaster

If where not getting a ride like Behemoth, then what do you think we could be getting?

I don't see a big coaster coming anytime soon to Kings Island. I see some flat rides coming form Geauga Lake for the next years. So I guess 2010 is when we will see a big coaster at Kings Island.

I guess we will be getting the Feris Wheel or the Inverter. There aren't too many rides at Geauga lake that would fit in at Kings Island as crowd movers. Villian could, however, be transported since the structure is steel. I couldn't guess where it would go in the park if it were transported.

What about The Racer at KI? Originally known as The Twin Racers, they were designed by John Allen and built by PTC in 1971-1972. They did NOT come from Coney Island, if that is what you are implying. Two of the trains did, but the Shooting Star, their spiritual predecessor, was, sadly, torn down. Preservation back then was unheard of.

To my knowledge, no major US park chain has EVER moved a wooden coaster. People like Dick Knoebels (and the mentioned Phoenix), Charlie Wood who moved the Comet from Crystal Beach to The Great Escape (before Six Flags), and the original Magic Springs people who moved what is now the Arkansas Twister from Boardwalk and Baseball in Florida are the ones who have. And the Skyliner at Lakemont was moved from Roseland Park in New York in 1985.

The trend continues recently with Miracle Strip's coaster moved from one Florida location to another by a park company now in bankruptcy (from the hurricanes, not the move) and a kiddie PTC moved from Chicago by a Wisconsin small park owner. The last two wooden coaster moves, both of relatively small wood coasters, have taken much longer than anticipated, and probably have had cost overruns.

The Big Dipper is far larger than the junior PTC woods recently moved. It's a John Miller coaster, and very few of them are left.

I think The Villian might be the first wooden coaster to be moved by a major chain (Cedar Fair). Sure it's not wooden in a purist' eyes (steel frame), but wood track is wood track.

As for the other woodies, I can see Big Dipper staying where it is and being bought by a private owner locally. Having it put into storage for a while seems more likely than having it moved and reopened any time soon. Wolf Ka-bobs is the candidate for the junk pile, especially because it derailed this season. I forget where, but I read rumors that CF didn't have much interest in fixing it (or maybe they just didn't want to since they knew this was the end for the park).

Moving Villain while not moving the Big Dipper would be like...

Oh, never mind.

My mama always taught me if you can't say something good...be careful where and to whom you say it! :)

Like.... Workers striking to put the company out of business? Sorry, I am very mad about GL. I was planning on going there the last day but my daughter was not feeling well after 5 hours at CP. Big Dipper is (still present tense) my second favorite wooden coaster in OH. My third is SBNO.
