I think Cedar Fair should go the Disney way with fireworks

But we all know that's never gonna happen. Winterfest's small show brought hope, as does the 2002 4th of July fireworks, but I don't think we'll ever see a syncronized and amazing display.

I'm not 13 either. I'm 36 and I too loved the way KI was before Paramount. I think a lot of the people frustrated hearing me & others complain about Paramount weren't around before then and have no idea why it's frustrating to us to see the way Paramount did KI. They removed numerous flats and adding nothing to replace them. Not to mention the half-baked movies that were so-so and not really worth theming any ride to.

And they removed Cobra for Delerium! Seriously, I've never heard of Drop Zone, Face/Off, Top Gun, or the Outer Limits!

Delerium is one of my favorite rides! You don't know what Top Gun is? You should be banned for life!

I do agree that Paramount added some great rides and did some great things for the park. Unfortunately, by 2006, the best thing that could have ever happened to Kings Island did happen: it was sold.

Let's face it, the last few years ago Kings Island were terrible. Paramount divesting the parks was writing on the wall. I LOVED the idea of having a Disney-like park in Cincinnati, but it never ended up being that way and likely never would have ended up that way.

It comes down to this: you can love or hate the current ownership, but you do have to admit that they're park people. They're not going to hold onto Kings Island and flip it in 5 years. They want/need it to be successful.

I wonder what would have happened though if Paramount never got bought by Viacom? Remember it was Paramount Pictures that actually bought the 5 parks to begin with.

Hooray for getting rid of the Paramount sign! Now let's just hope this marquis sign stays standing

Oh and for the record... Drop Zone was a FANTASTIC movie!!! How can you go wrong with Wesley Snipes and Gary Busey?!?! I mean come on people!

They did a great job with the Theming of Top Gun in 1993, we all know what happend through out the years. Of course though the first year of Paramount Ownership they were some hiccups as well.

I still say that if the park had been brought b y someone other than Paramount, it would be almost the same it is now without the nasty paramount junk.

Yes but we could have some other really great, dare I say it, better rides. Didn't Kinzel want to buy KI back in 1992? I heard he did, but Cedar Fair couldn't afford it. . . .

Since I could not get through on the phone, I drove up there to find out if jackets were in (they are not). The whole top of the sign is down, all the way to the light board. And no I do not have pictures, because I did not want to take them.

Are you saying Paramount is bad? If it wasn't for Paramount, no Italian Job, no Tomb Raider, no Son of Beast, no Drop Zone (really?), no Delirium, no Action Theather... They could be bad, but they really were good. If Paramount didn't exist... NO FEARFEST!!! So you should thank Paramount for what they did.

Virtually every large park now has a Halloween event. Whoever owned KI would have done the same thing.

I do thank Paramount for FoF and DZ. However, some of the other rides that have been built at the expense of another ride being taken out were terrible decisions. Sure some of the rides were maintenance nightmares, but why bother spending millions on another ride that is less enjoyable than the ride it replaced?

I also thank Paramount for selling the park. It was quite obvious that their heart was not in it the last few years.

I look forward to seeing the new sign next year - if not sooner.

The 13 year old comment does nto hold water.

I'm sorry I do not have a photo to show....but I have seen it with my own eyes today. The whole top part of the sign, not just the mountain and "Paramount", but the entire neon Kings Island part is gone. All that remains is the top of the support bars above the "scrolling sign" section. Also removed are the decorative aspects of the sign, the iron work beneath the arch and the parts that made the sign look like collumns.

Which is understandable.

This year, even my 7-year-old asked "Why does that still say Paramount, Dad?"........

I started visiting the park when I was 12 (I am now 24). I am used to seeing Paramount all over everything at Kings Island. This year when I visited the park I thought the park logo looked somewhat naked without the Paramount on it. It made me somewhat sad. I just hope that Cedar Fair makes good improvements in the park in the upcoming seasons. I can get used to the "naked" logo.

Growing up in the early 80's and visiting the park often, it was very difficult to call the park Paramount's Kings Island.

I click on the Insert Image box, paste in the path to the file and when I preview the post I get this error: Sorry, dynamic pages in the tags are not allowed. I've tried everything I can think of, and can't find anything in the help links on the site. So, how the heck do I put picture in here?

I'm sure that it doesn't help that when you call the park it still has "Thank you for calling Paramount's Kings Island" or atleast it did the last time that I called.

One idea I had was putting the picture on an image hosting site, like Flickr, and giving us the link.

I had that trouble as well, and I was told to eliminate the last 2-3 letters of the tag-can't remember what it was now, but it worked...give it a shot

They should have been creative and made the sign say something like:

"I don't care what anybody says, this hurts!"

or of course

"I feel like I'm missing something."

Wow, I didn't think they would do much more than remove the mountain and Paramount! I never would have thought they would chop off half the sign!
