Unfortunately, and in accordance with KICentral policy, this seems to be CONFIRMED:

Park News - (3/6/08) We’ve got some bad news today for wood coaster fans. According to Kings Dominion’s John Pagel, both sides of Rebel Yell will be switched to only run forward this season. According to John, “this is consistent with Kings Island and Carowinds for the 2008 season,” confirming the rumored changes to The Racer at Kings Island and Thunder Road at Carowinds.

What do you mean by "in accordance with KICentral policy"

Wow, i just, wow. I know Screamscape can't be trusted to much, but if they already confirmed Rebel Yell @ Kings Dominion, It's likely to follow along.

Wow, just, wow. It was a representative of Kings Dominion who confirmed it, not screamscape. They quoted John Hagel, the marketing director at Kings Dominion, who said Kings Island and Carowinds rides would fall in line. Screamscape's credibility is not at question here. Take a closer look next time.

In accordance with our terms of service, if you have a rumor that you have heard about the park, you must cite your sources of information, and names with which you heard this information, just as King Maple Leaf has done.

Great thanks for the heads up.

I personally look forward to being able to ride forwards and see the Coney side.

I hate the fact that every time i ride backwards I hurt my neck and every time I ride forward theres not much to look at besides Firehawk.

It was a cool idea, but I never cared for it. I am personally glad both are going back to the original design.

Nah, just personal preference. I have a bum back-and before anyone starts the lecture, it is my choice to ride, and I hold no one responsible but myself. But I have tried it several times, and found backwards to be painful. I need to see what's coming, so I can prepare my back, and riding backwards-there's no way....

Does anyone have an "actual page" with the press release on it? Because I need more then just what the Media Guy said for My Current Events. <_<

So I guess if Don Helbig, media director of Kings Island, asked us to quote him as saying something and Boddah1994 posts it, you don't find it factual?

I agree though, would be nice to have a link to any actual press release.

I don't remember if the description on KI website had that one side ran backward but this is what it says now.

The twin-tracked Racer is a traditional wooden out-and-back coaster and credited for re-igniting the coaster building boom in the early 1970’s, thus beginning the second golden age of the roller coaster. To honor The Racer’s staying power, the American Coaster Enthusiasts named this popular ride an “ACE Roller Coaster Landmark” during a ceremony at the park last year, making it one of only 14 coasters in the world with landmark status. In addition, The Racer is also notable for its appearance in the Cincinnati Kids episode of The Brady Bunch, filmed at the park in 1973.

... i love comments like "screamscape cant be trusted"... even though its been stated time and time again that the site is usually correct.

Im trying to think of the last time that site posted a "rumor" that didnt materialize....

Except they aren't mostly right.

^No, I just need something more than

"This will also occur at Kings Island and Carowinds" or something like that.

Which was a quote attributed to the parks media director, the one in charge of such announcements. I highly doubt that they would have made up a quote like that then stuck his name on it.

Jeeze you people, so the ride is facing forwards now, so what?? It's still the same ride!

Who Ever liked the ride in 1981 should like it now!

Oh, really?

I have news for you. In 1981, Racer was my favorite wooden coaster in the country. Oh, the changes it has seen since then, from reprofiling (several times) to train modifications (headrests, seat dividers, individual lap bars, and worst of all, in my opinion, installing high density urethane foam).

To say whoever liked the ride in 1981 should like it now is simply mind boggling.
