The Interpreter Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Those were sold throughout the park, not just used as centerpieces up there... Quote
Jasper Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 I wouldnt mind having those 2 booklets from 1994 and like 1972 i think it is. Quote
DeLorean Rider Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Actually the most comprehensive search is preformed by searching: "Kings Island" (with quotations), that way only the posts with the word "island" directly after the word "kings" shows up. Quote
TombRaiderFTW Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 I realize this is a pretty huge bump, but given that this is the closest thing this site has to a general "interesting eBay items" thread... Have you guys seen the Kings Island Wurlitzer organ record that's on eBay? http://www.ebay.com/itm/QUEEN-OF-KINGS-ISLAND-Volume-1-LP-Wurlitzer-Duplex-Orchestral-Organ-Style-157-NJ-/370688555240?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item564ec278e8 Its Buy It Now price is $7.50. I don't personally have that much of an attraction to it outside of novelty (and don't have a record player), but I figure someone here might be interested. Just thought I'd pass it along! 2 Quote
standbyme Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 ^The number of people who still have a working turntable keeps getting smaller and smaller every day...but if you can play CDs* there are seven different titles to purchase that feature the "Queen Of Kings Island"...including a Christmas CD**! http://www.bandorganmusic.com/machines/mqueen.htm *Just so you kids know, that's an abbreviation for Compact Discs. **And yes I know...the number of people who still have a working CD player keeps getting smaller and smaller every day! The Interpreter Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Would that it still played organically at the island. Perhaps the peninsula. 2 Quote
Sonofbeast2.0 Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Twinkies all over on eBay. The prices people are trying to sell them for... Quote

jcgoble3 Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 My alarm clock is also a working CD player, though it hasn't been used for that in a while. I also have a combination turntable and tape player buried in the living room, but I don't know if it still works. 1 Quote
standbyme Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 homestar92, that is very nice community spirit...I hope you enjoy your record! Quote
homestar92 Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Well, I collect vinyl, and I, like so many of us here, am a die-hard Kings Island enthusiast. It fit in with two of my biggest hobbies, and when will I have another opportunity to combine my love for records with my love for Kings Island.Plus, I've never been to Kings Island while the Queen was functional. It will be refreshing to hear her music for the first time. Quote

You may possibly be right, I know there is still that vinyl niche out there...but my theory is that the number of people over the age of 40 who decide on a daily basis that it is time to finally pack up their old turntable outweighs the younger generation who are out there buying them. (I see them at rummage sales and auctions fairly often.) 1 Quote
TombRaiderFTW Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 homestar92, that would be awesome. Quote

How I do miss that thing - it was the "heart" of the Grand Carousel, at least to me. The ride isn't at ALL the same without the genuine band organ. 1 Quote

(I see them at rummage sales and auctions fairly often.) They are actually correct on this point. To my knowledge there are only 3 remaining vinyl record press companies in the United States, all of which have seen increased sales over the last 5 to 7 years - if you can believe that. And at least one of those companies had plans to retire until this spike in new recordings emerged! An old but relevant article: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1702369,00.html In any case, in regard to the Kings Island album make sure you also get volume 2 to complete the set http://www.ebay.com/itm/QUEEN-OF-KINGS-ISLAND-Volume-2-LP-Wurlitzer-Duplex-Orchestral-Organ-Style-157-NJ-/290807065763?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item43b573aca3&nma=true&si=OFDgtJ8XlAKNRFRYZ%2FL8v7oOWFE%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 ~Josh 1 Quote
homestar92 Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 Just a little update - I have the Queen of Kings Island record now and I still intend to digitize and upload it so I can share it here, but it'll have to wait until January or so. The equipment I need is at school and I'm on Christmas break. But just know that I do plan to share. 1 Quote
fyrfyter Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 I still have an original Top Gun Shirt! Bought it when I was a teen, I am 33 now! Quote
