italianchef Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 I'm sure that without the amusement park rides, attendance will be down this season. Quote
Gordon Bombay Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 That would depend on what their attendance goal is now. Without that other side of the park they're not going to aim for those same attendance figures. Quote
erniebald57 Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Yeah....they thought attendance was down last year... I still think that completely trashing the amusement park side was a big mistake. The water park is cheaper to run (I guess), but is so much more dependent on the right weather, the wet guests whipping out their money to buy stuff...etc. I think I recall a recent interview with Mr. Kinzel himself about the difficulties of making money in the water park. I suspect that they will have these difficulties. The last I heard, many Geauga Lake fans still aren't too happy about this whole thing. save the dipper. Quote
The Interpreter Posted May 28, 2008 Author Posted May 28, 2008 And the rebranding continues? http://www.wildwaterfun.com New URL for website...note Wildwater Kingdom is getting bigger and bigger on the site as the size of Geauga Lake's gets smaller and smaller..... Note especially the park map: http://www.wildwaterfun.com/public/map/ Quote
WooferBearATL Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 That's bigger? Lord, there are subdivisions that have more attractions than that! Quote
The Interpreter Posted May 28, 2008 Author Posted May 28, 2008 That too....but the waterpark is shockingly small for the price... Six attractions, six! http://www.wildwaterfun.com/public/attractions/index.cfm Quote
CoastersRZ Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Sure enough. There is not a lot of water attractions at that water park. Heck, Coney has two water slides and a giant pool for half of at the gate Wildwater Kingdom admission. In fact, admission to both Sunlite Pool and Coney`s classic rides is four dollars less then admission to Wildwater Kingdom! Quote
The Interpreter Posted May 28, 2008 Author Posted May 28, 2008 To be fair, have you ever seen a waterpark with such a variety of food? http://www.wildwaterfun.com/public/food/ Heck, Kings Island doesn't have that big a selection in the drypark! I can't see this lasting... Quote
jzarley Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 I'll admit I haven't paid much attention to GL/WWK over the last several months, but when they moved the waterpark to the old SW side, wasn't there a two-year expansion plan announced? What happened to that? I was a little disappointed with the size of Zoombezi Bay from their map: http://www.dispatch.com/wwwexportcontent/s...05/22/water.pdf But, WWK looks even more limited... Quote
