PkiJake13
Does anyone think that Hanna-Barbera Land could be saved. They could keep on adding popular Cartoon Network shows. If Hanna-Barbera Land is taking over by Nickelodeon Central, Scooby Doo's Haunted Mansion would be out of place. -Jake
italianchef
I was told from a reliable source that PKI's license to use Hanna-Barbera expires in 2008 - though PKI does have a separate licensing agreement with Scooby Doo that lasts much longer. Assuming all things remain the same, Hanna-Barbera Land will cease to exist in 2009. The area will be taken over by Nickelodeon Central thus rides will be re-named and re-themed accordingly. What will happen to SDATHC? It cannot exist within Nickelodeon Central so my guess is that one of two things will happen: 1. The very small area covering SDATHC and its picture area will be a separate area named "Coolsville" or something of that nature. 2. PKI will re-vamp SDATHC as a Nickelodeon haunted house. However, I think scenario 1 is more likely. Have a great off season! Italian Chef :chef:
teenageninja
Scooby Doo won't be revamped until 2012, if we assume that they stay on the 10 year path.

Alien Seed
Nick might not be around in 2009. I think this is possible, unless they come up with some pretty good shows soon. The ones they are putting on now are *censored*. "My life as a Teenage Robot," "the new Rugrats + All Grown Up," "Danny Phantom," "Jimmy Neutron," "U Pick Live," etc. The only good shows they have now are SBSP and some episodes of "the Fairly Oddparents," though most of them are kinda weak. They need shows like the ones we grew up with "the old Rugrats"--with humour even for adults, to a lesser degree--"Doug," the always controversial "Ren & Stimpy," before it went the way of the real SNL, Nick's own SNL, "All That," and the other fine SNICK program, "Are you Afraid of the Dark?" TheKlockster
I don't think they will renew their contract with Hanna Barbera. A high ranking park official told me, and the good Reverend, that the person who actually approved that contract was fired for doing so. But it won't be a big deal. The rides will most likely stay the same, and will simply be changed to Nick names.

Odd that a person would be fired for renew a contract with a park that was going to be called at one time Hanna-Barbara Land. The only problem is with NickToons is that the shows don't last as long on tv as Hanna-Barbara shows with reruns.
PKI Punk
I think HB will make a big come back, any thing can happen, Nick might not be around in 2009. I can promise HB will be gone from PKI in 2008, the contract WILL NOT be renewed. You may not believe, but I KNOW it is true, just wait. Hey italianchef I think your "source" is the same as mine (Last ride on The Beast, in line?) With SDatHC, PKI will keep the same theming within Nick, I mean why not, two different contracts, HB and SD are not the same contract, why get rid of SD? drewbari
Any thing can happen. Paramount could buy HB from WB. If HBL was to became part of NC, then they would ave to change the names of the rides every few years, because the Nick shows dont last that long, unlike the HB show which are on in reruns. Getting rid of HBL could cause PKI to lose the golden ticket for best kids area, PKI has a good run going allready, they have won it 3 times. NC has not played a big part in PKI history too. HBL has. Fred Flintstone cut the ribbon to open KI in 1972. Yogi Bear led the opening day parade. HBL was 1st too. Will Hanna and Joe Barbera visited park in the 80's too. I am not saying this is true but I think NC will die out but HBL will keep going.
Vortex
This is not the first time I have heard the Hanna-Barbara was going to leave Kings Island. Two years before Paramount bought Kings Island I learned that Hanna-Barbara might be leaving the park. This was also the same year the HB was sold to the WB. Another reason HB is so big in the park Carl L. owned Kings Island and HB at the same time. Then Carl L. sold HB to WB and Kings Island to Paramount. So that is way you are seeing HB more in the Six Flags parks now days then the Paramount Parks. In 10 years the park will looking nothing like it did as when I went as a child. italianchef
I think HB will make a big come back, any thing can happen, Nick might not be around in 2009. Nickelodeon not around in 2009? Sorry, but I think you are too pessimistic. Nickelodeon is the largest player in the children's television market. It is extremely unlikely that it'll vanish in the next 5 years. And for the record, the Klockster and PKI Punk heard about the future demise of H-B Land when I heard it from the same high ranking official on the last ride of The Beast for the 2004 season. And it was a cold night. Have a great off season! Italian Chef :chef:

Yeah, I remember those shows. Don't forget "salute your shorts", "pete and pete", "wild and crazy kids", "double dare", "clarissa explains it all", and the other ones you mentioned. They didn't have a lot of cartoons to begin with. But their shows certainly did appeal to teens and pre-teens. Only a few of them play on the new noggin, called "the N". PKI Punk
I loved those old shows, they were the Sh*t! And Klockster, you were the person I was talking about, I KNOW you we cold. I was the kid with the red (some say pink) Louisville hat and the black Louisville sweat-shirt, standing by Jeff, before we got the last ride. Scooby_Doo
Sadly I have heard of the samethings as chef.... This is what I was told by my good friend that has worked in the park for the past 4 seasons 1. Scooby Doo will have his own area and the area will be called ''Mysteryville '' or ''Coolsville'' along the lines of those two names I know PKI and the other Paramount Parks have Scooby Doo for a lot longer than the other Hanna-Barbera Characters plus right now a couple of paramount parks are planning a brand new Scooby Doo show. 2. The Green Slime Maze will be taken out soon and on it's place something great is in store (workin at the carwash YEAH... ) 3.Most of the Hanna-Barbera land will be rethemed and re-named to Nicktoons by 2008. 4. Yes there is a Smurfs movie in the works its a CGI movieto give you all an Idea of what it will be like it think along the lines of Shrek or Finding Nemo it is slanted to be released in 2005 w/ a ton of new smurf merch and be on the look out for The Smurfs Season 1 its coming out in next spring. 5. For those of you that love spongebob let me just say you will be a HAPPY bunch here soon. 6.Yes Hanna-Barbera is now with Warner Bros. you can see all of your fav HB characters at almost any six flags park. 7.I have been hearing some rumors that wings will be transformed soon and the nick theater will be brought down to expand and picnic grove will be re-located. well thats all I gotta say take care Scooby Doo

TheKlockster
I've lived in Florida, Ohio, Utah and Montana. I know hot and I know cold! It wasn't that cold! You want cold - Bozeman High School has a swim center that is attached by a hallway to the building the gym is in. After PE class one day, as I was hustling through the hallway connecting the two buildings, in my swimming trunks, and some douchebag opened a door to the outside in the hallway, so 10 degree air was rushing in. Then one of my friends and I were wrestling and I got thrown into a snow drift! So not only am I wet from swimming, but I am just wearing my swimming trunks, and now I'm in a snow drift. THAT WAS COLD. The other day at PKI was brisk, but it wasn't cold! Or as they would say on Monte Python - "I've had worse!" But to stay on topic; I asked the question - "When the HB license expires, will NC just absorb HB? ", to which this very important park official replied - "Most Likely." Straight from the horses mouth!

italianchef
I've lived in Florida, Ohio, Utah and Montana. I know hot and I know cold! It wasn't that cold! Cold is a relative term. You were not cold and you wore shorts. I wore jeans, a t-shirt, and 2 sweatshirts and I FROZE. Maybe it wasn't cold for you, but it was bitterly cold for me. This has to do with the differences in our genertic makeup. I cannot tolerate the cold but do well in the heat. Have a great off season! italianchef
My GUESS is that all of Hanna-Barbera Land, except for SDATHC, will be re-themed as re-named as NC rides and attractions in 2009 if not 2008. SDATHC and the photo area next to it will be re-named Coolsville or something else. Then in 2012 a Nickelodeon inspired haunted house will replace SDATHC (as KI seems to change haunted houses every 10 years) and NC will annex Coolsville. Does that mean Scooby Doo will be gone from the park? I don't know. If he is still popular like now, he may be a greeter and star in his own show at International Street (which he did before). Otherwise, it could be "Ruh roh Raggy, we rotta reave PKI!" Have a great off season! Italian Chef :chef:
Scooby_Doo
I highly doubt Scooby will be ever be un-popular I mean he has out-lived out- lasted his HB counterparts except The Flintstones,Jetsons and Yogi Bear which who is making a rapid comeback. But I will be sad to see Nick Replace the area where I grew up can you see the flintstones bumper cars being re-themed and named to Rocket power bumpers or D.Dasturdlys Bi-planes being re-named to Dora's Sea Planes? how bout Hey Arnolds Taxi Jam or how bout Nicktoon skytours whatta bout Atom Ant airways being turned into Spongebob's Sea sub..what about Pixie and Dixie's swing set being called Phil & lil's swing set....I can go on & on...it's just very sad...but I think we will see many new changes to the park we will hate and we will love and I really think FOF will get a makeover so will the Green Slime Maze...and most of the old HBL rides will be taken out and replaced. But I dont think Scooby is going anywhere soon he is too popular among kids and adults. I will admit if NICK is taking over I would LOVE to see PKI add The Angery Beavers Spooty spin to NC(it's a Water/Dark ride like the enchanted voyage or smurfs you ride in a fishboat and tour the beavers world and you take a huge waterfall plunge at the end of the ride.)
