Young Gunz
Let's look at the clues... Bodda said that the name is in a clue on the signs near the construction. A sign that no one has really mentioned is slippery when wet. Of course, everyone things it refers to the splashdown thing, but why would they be slipper when wet? What's really slipper when wet? ICE!!! Now, let's look at posibilities... The PR guy from Kings Island is Don Helbeg who used to work for the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks. When the Mighty Ducks closed up shop they tried to start a new team called the RailRaiders. Now, aside from being a really good name for a coaster, they probably never copywrited it since the team never actually played. So look at the facts: -We have the slippery when wet clue. -The name is probably available since an employee of KI probably helped come up with it. -The people of KI said that the reason why the new ride names (Flight Deck, Drop Tower, etc) were so bland was because it's hard to come up with names that weren't taken already and this one would be almost a freebee!!! Any thoughts???? Here's the logo they used: Just think... they could make it like an old time train theme and it would fit the Western theme!! The Interpreter
And why isn't this in the parent thread? http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=13587 Or is each person who thinks they have figured it out going to start yet another one? firehawkboy
Very interesting theory. But, I was looking at the sign and one of them said, "Ride Sally Ride", which is part of a song back then called, "Mustang Sally". So... I think the coaster is simply going to be called, "Mustang", Just because of that sign. Give me your opinion on my theory.
RailRider
I feel honored, a coaster named after me... If this is the case KICentral needs to take my picture next to the sign on media day...
Thrill_Biscuit
Losantiville was a mining town? I thought it was a livestock town. "Rattlesnake Run"? Just a guess. Probably not the first. Too many threads.

pilotank
Slippery When Wet is also an album released by Jon Bon Jovi. Guest TombraiderTy
If you look at the signs, Kings Island is written in what appears to be a splat of oil, and you can STRIKE oil. Plus striking oil could fit with the theme of Rivertown.

JamesMC
Hello KI Central- I've been browsing this site (via Screamscape) for a long long time, but have not posted, so I thought today would be a good day to start. (I'm a regular on Theme Park Review with the same membername)- Anyway- here's my input- The name Mustang seems to fit with all the clues-with the exception of the whole "park strikes back" tag on the photos. I've heard the name CopperHead mentioned (and I actually like that one the best, truth be told). That DOES fit with the park "strikes" back thing. I've heard the name Fugitive mentioned as well, and I think it's cool, but not so much as CopperHead. Last summer when rumors first started appearing- I have also heard the names Black Dragon, Swamp Monster, and Serpent/Steel Serpent used for this ride. Final Opinion: They could call this ride the Prancing Pretzel, and I will be there to ride it no matter what. However, I DO hope it has a cool name. "Ride Sally Ride" is certainly a clue in favor of Mustang, but the CF folks certainly read these forums and may have intentionally put that clue there to mislead. Only time will tell. I will point out that the other clues, "slippery when wet" "steep incline ahead" etc are the only other clues we really have and they have nothing to do with that particular name. So again... anything is possible.
The Interpreter
Well, almost anything. I can almost guarantee it won't be called "The Empire Strikes Back." Almost.
KIBeast
You had my hopes up for a minute there, Terpy. I think Ride Sally Ride is the clue that was meant to throw everyone off. It could be just referring to riding the coaster and nothing more.

Right...but who's to say those clues are directly related to the name?? i.e. "Ya'll ready for some serious sidewindin'?" obviously this was more in reference to Maverick's elements. At this point, me really thinks "Ride Sally Ride" could be misleading, and the name could be snake/serphent oriented with some themeing that hints to King Cobra, potentially since all the clues EXCEPT for Ride Sally could point to such a name/theme.... ZukoGirl
I don't seems to me that this might be an like a Rivertown themeing or a western since It's name might be Mustang Just a thought.

gnarkiller
It would be cool if it has something to do with The Beast or sob because the eyes on the countdown looks like the eyes on sobs logo.
The Interpreter
Hopefully that is the only resemblance it will have to the conception, erection and early operation of that thing...although that thing did have some very good early marketing...remember the baby blocks with the letters? SamDiZZLe3361
Thank you bengalscoaster.... i was not intending on trying to figure out the name of the coaster at all.... i was looking up old movies earlier the exact day they posted the new ride thread on the website and was looking up komodo the movie... well i wanted to figure out more about the komodo dragon and found out lots of information about the komodo; some similar to what the signs describe at Kings Island... later that day i noticed the trailer and i saw the eye peeking out of the crate and the first thing that came to mind was Komodo... See if i cant change your mind... Komodo dragons can usually be found on islands to be toured only buy people on boat... The splash down and the fact that the ride is held at King's Island really has me pondering... also, a komodo has scales, this means they could be very slippery when wet. the ride was said to be a hyper coaster... most hypercoasters seat a lot of people at once and can probably be considered what people call a people eater. Komodos have the potential to devour a person. There is a link i posted in another thread that shows a few a sign on one of the islands that said, "Caution! Komodo crossing, do not disturb, be Silent!" sound familiar?? Next... "Steep incline ahead" well have no fear or should i say "Run for the hills!!" because a komodo dragon is very fast on its feet and can very easily catch its prey in a rundown... although they can not run for a long distance the komodo dragon can both climb and swim... so i dont think it would be very smart to try to climb a tree.. lol Notice every sign in the park looks to be in a font that looks like paint. although if i thought of paint i would think of red... Komodo dragons absolutely are attracted to the color red, not in a good way either... And guess what... the track is red go figure. last but not least go to google and type in "Komodo Movie". there is a picture of the case of the old movie. and what do you know its a komodo dragon peaking out of a crate. The eye almost looks exactly like the one on the Kings Island website. Now im not trying to say that the ride will be based off the movie cause i know it wont. but what i am trying to say is that Kings Island may have done a little research and probably got their ideas from other websites. Hope you take the time to read this and understand that i truly thought out my opinion. for me... Its KOMODO all the way!!!
Kight31Woodmen
I'm favoring the name, Leviathan. Cedar Fair decided to build a ride that is almost identical to this one called Behemoth at Canada's Wonderland. They are now building a similar hypercoaster with a splashdown effect, and Leviathan was known as a serpent/reptile of the sea. So maybe?
