Thrill_Biscuit Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 If I were working in the splashdown and saw a train begin ascending Mt. Helbig, I'd start moseyin' away from the track.
Shaggy Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 They can lock out the coaster when a train is in the station. Shaggy
tycoonrebel7188 Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 They can also lockout the ride while the train is sitting on the lift like it is now. It also looks like there are people standing on the lift next to the train. My guess is they could be practicing evacuation precedures.
Diamondback FOF Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 What does it mean when they lockout a ride? **posted from my iPod touch
tycoonrebel7188 Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 To lockout a ride means to disable the power to the controls or the ride. This is done if there is a need to evacuate from the lift hill so the train will not move in the process.
Thrill_Biscuit Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Would there be some test results that require a structural examination/"fine tuning"? I'm not sure how the whole process works, but would the recent testing have revealed the need to "tighten a bolt here" and "put a brace there," etc? **posted from my Latitude
Diamondback FOF Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 ^Oh, ok. That makes sense. Thanks!!! Also, the train is still in the same place and there are still people standing by it. **posted from my iPod touch
Kawana Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 I was just looking at the webcam, and does anyone else think that there will be mass confusion while trying to enter/exit DB? The exit looks like it travels directly through the path for the entrance under the sign.
Ashers Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Yeah that is pretty weird, I also have a feeling it will be pretty crowded and congested through there.
Racerrider Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 whats with the two red things by LaRosas? The one on the right almost looks like a piece of track, but I'm 150% positive they installed all of the track considering they are far into testing the trains
PKIDelirium Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 The one right in front of LaRosa's looks like a dumpster. Not sure about the other one.
Guest KINGSISLANDMASTER Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 One Is A Truck,The One In Front Of Larosa's,The Other Looks To Be A FlatBed,A Trailer That Attachs To Trucks,Maybe Used TO Transfer Rocks And Mulch!!!!
Gordon Bombay Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 I was just looking at the webcam, and does anyone else think that there will be mass confusion while trying to enter/exit DB? The exit looks like it travels directly through the path for the entrance under the sign. I don't think thats the exit path, that path will probably be used as a wheelchair entrance, similar to how Firehawk has their wheelchair entrance just past the greeter station. I'm willing to be you'll be forced to exit through the gift shop.
The Interpreter Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 I bet there is also an alternate exit. We are talking Cedar Fair here. One cannot guarantee the gift shop will always be open...per caps or not.
Diamondback FOF Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 If you look at the top of this picture, around The Beast plaza helix, it looks like landscaping has been done. It appears rocks had been placed around the grass and some type of shrub along with other bushes, have been planted at the base of the supports.
SonofBeast07 Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 whats with the two red things by LaRosas? The one on the right almost looks like a piece of track, but I'm 150% positive they installed all of the track considering they are far into testing the trains i think those are red fence pieces stacked upon each other
KIFAN! Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 That whole erea is starting to take shape very nicely.
RWildman424 Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Good catch on the webcam pic. I didn't notice the new landscaping up there. It looks like there is only going to be one way to get back to The Beast now instead of multiple paths around the "islands". I was looking forward to standing under the helix, but I don't think thats going to be allowed now.
KIFAN! Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Will still get to watch the train cross the midway twice
Racerrider Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 There are little people standing in the Lahar now...
tubaman Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Well either it rained and they turned the drain off, or they are starting to fill the pool back up.
DropZone99 Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Not sure if it's been mentioned, but the queue line was extended towards the maintenance road.
goofywdw Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 Well either it rained and they turned the drain off, or they are starting to fill the pool back up. It didn't rain that much when I was in the area today. It looks like they are filling it up again but I could be wrong.
RWildman424 Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 They are definitely filling it up again. Its almost full already.
Kawana Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 I bet there is also an alternate exit. We are talking Cedar Fair here. One cannot guarantee the gift shop will always be open...per caps or not. Not to mention that Don H. himself said that guests would have the option to exit to the midway or to the gift shop. Unless the right fork doesn't lead directly into the shop and there's a few feet before the shop entrance, I don't know what to think.
violakat03 Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one that remembered (or heard) him saying that during the tour. He most definitely said the exit would fork and you could choose whether or not to exit through the gift shop.
Beast1979 Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 There are little people standing in the Lahar now... la⋅har   /ˈlɑhɑr/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [lah-hahr] Show IPA –noun Geology. 1. a landslide of wet volcanic debris on the side of a volcano. 2. the deposit left by such a landslide. There was a Volcano at Kings Island?
The Interpreter Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 Shhhh. Given Jeff Gramke's reported remarks at the KIC event last summer, Volcano: The Blast Coaster may well rotate around from a dominion to an island some day. However, given the pre-existence of the (Smurf) Mountain in Doswell, I wouldn't think this very likely. Not to mention the fact it would make one particular Terpy deliriously happy, while upsetting a lot of people in the Old Dominion and a few thoosies in the Ohio area...
neo8820 Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 Sorry if this has already been asked. I went back several pages and didn't see... Does anyone know what they have installed about a foot to the left and right of the track in the splashdown? Edit: It appears to be all around the track in the splashdown. Is it a fence?
