Thrill_Biscuit
What does rick roll mean? It's a popular internet meme (gag) where people are often deceptively led to a video of Rick Astley's 1988 pop hit "Never Gonna Give You Up." The "victim" endures a cheesy video featuring the Alfred E. Neumanesque crooner as he "dances" and "sings" his signature song (taking himself seriously). For variety, another of his songs "Together Forever" is used. The song gained noteriety in 1988 as radio listeners mistakenly thought the lyrics were "Then I'm gonna give you up, then I'm gonna let you down...," wondering why such a mean song was so popular (amiright.com). Kawana
question about opening day, will the line for Diamondback be longer earlier in the day or later in the day? According to the KI map, the lines will be longer in the morning. Take that for what it's worth, although it's really probably pretty accurate. goofywdw
I hope they are right because that is most likely when I will get to ride if I don't work an all day on opening day. So is this just an optional switchback that they will be able to open if needed or will it continue down and the line cross further down underneath the lift? kiruler102
i would say it would be a optional quele area just determins on the line... because i know they will construct enough lines to hold the guests because i know they dont want the line to flood out into the walking area. like what happened opening day of Son of Beast. The Interpreter
You do? It doesn't seem to bother them any on Vortex. In fact, Kings Island has long been known for not always opening switchbacks, and for lines into the midways.
goofywdw
^For my crew at SOB/Deck it was never a problem. But when I was a sent at Delirium on busy days I would keep asking if I should open up another switchback and they would always just give me a shrug. Lame story but just kinda proving your point. IndyGuy4KI
^^Your answer can be found in this video of the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade this year: I was watching the parade with my mother when this happened. I got up and was flipping out because of how funny I thought it was. Then I had to explain to my mother what a "Rick Roll" was. What happened to the red hair? I thought it was a gag not the real Alfred.

I thought its just a que through the building and then around the side of the midway....but I think even with these switchbacks on DB, the line will be waaaaaaaaaay out into the midway, mabeye even for 2 whole seasons....like they said over and over, this is the "biggest" thing to happen in KI's history. goofywdw
Aren't there switchbacks inside the station just like The Beast? I'm not so sure about Diamondback being too far into the midway past opening day. Have you ever seen a B&M hyper line move? Ignore the rest of the stuff in this video besides the line. It isn't mine, just found it when browsing.

goofywdw
I only worked the post season so I didn't get to experience too much. I don't think I ever noticed a guest closing or opening switchbacks them self but I think I would rather do it myself. It's not the guests job to maintain the ride area, it is the ride associates so I guess I would just prefer the guest to try and keep the area clean and the ride associate and to the rest. When I would go to break and clock out next to that sign I would try to set it to the right time. But in order to do that employees have to enter through the gate and employees only. tycoonrebel7188
What was your opinion of guests opening and closing switchbacks as they pleased?? Grrr.. .. .. nothing bothers me more than when I'm in a line that has switchbacks and someone ahead of me decides to screw with their friends by moving the gate. Not only does it waste time, but I also see it as a possible hazard. For example, the switchback gates at Beast could very well crush someone's fingers if they had them in the wrong spot whilst someone was playing with it. There's like 4 in the middle of the path and then a couple more to the right of them. don't know, but it looks like they just painted/tinted the walkway, put some trees in between the que and the handi-cap entrance, and there are some metal things towards the back of the que, which i think will hold up some sort of shade structure, and will go in the dark square things in the main que area. goofywdw
You think in that top left corner where the concrete extends up to the building might be some kind of snack bar like they have in Nitro, El Toro's queues?
Airtimeluvr
^^That picture of the path reminds me of Cp, when they laid the bricks in the new Planet Snoopy. I think the white block looking things in the walkway are pallets of bricks for the walkway. Yesterday the path was a light brown when those white things appeared, today after the rain the path changed to a darker color, I think it's sand. At Planet Snoopy they poured concrete with high curbs and then put in sand and then laid bricks on top of the concrete.

Those white things look round and white, whereas pallets are usually suare and the brick would be a dark red/brown-ish. But, if you meant the white things are sand, then I totally agree with you . That would make a lot of sense.

Airtimeluvr
^^^When the pallets were delivered to Cp they had a white cardboard or thick paper material over them for protection when they were bundled, whether for shipping or storing I do not know. From the distance they are from the camera I can't tell if they are square or round. Just my 2 cents.
Beast08
Why isn't Diamondback testing this week?
The Interpreter
Testing is done as required by the State of Ohio, insurance companies and the manufacturer. When it is performed, it is because it is needed. When it is not, it is because it is not. Any information beyond that would be considered "proprietary," which is business-speak for a business secret.
violakat03
I'd say considering that they're doing work around the splashdown, it'd be for safety reasons. You don't want a worker accidentally getting hit by one of the trains.
