Is That Flight Commander?

The fatality was not the reasoning for the ride's removal. It certainly contributed to it, but it actually existed for several seasons after the death. Flight Commander was removed because interest among guests wained... they found it "boring."

How long have you people been going to PKI? They didn't sell alcohol from the time she fell out to 2001. Then in 2002 they started again but only in the designated spots.

You are quite wrong my friend.

Alcohol was only out of the park for a year and a half after she fell out of Flight Commander and the guy fell in the lake behind Oktoberfest Gardens (both on the same day).

I have worked in food service since 1998 and I can tell you we had alcohol back then, thus proving your statment of no alcohol until 2002 very wrong.

It is true alcohol is only allowed in certain areas of the park even though their liquer license is good for the entire property including campground and parking lot. This park policy in order to help protect the safety of our guests. We want to be sure we can keep an eye on everyone and to cut them off if they are too drunk and to call security to escort them to first aid to cool off.

Hey don't blame alcohol - blame the reckless people who abuse it. My mother was raised on a vineyard in Italy. I grew up with wine and drink MODERATELY often and cook with it daily. Alcohol is no different from caffeine - it's the behavior of the person more than the chemical.

Speaking of alcohol - I never drink it at PKI. First of all, as a full-blooded Italian, I like wine - not beer. Secondly, I don't want a stomach full of soda or beer (gas) while riding big coasters.

I have only seen that happen once, it was after I got off Vortex I went to throw away something in my pocket and I got bumped by some person getting off the ride, I thought they were being a jerk then I looked to throw away my trash and they were barfin major in the trash can. :(

The barn farthest away from The Racer in the picture is no longer there. Not sure, but guessing it was a storage or barn for the animal park since it is further away from everything else. All the red barns and the small water tower closest to The Racer are still there. The other barns on the left of the picture directly behind the lift hill are no longer there since that is the entrance to FOF.

Its cool looking at older pics of the park, like the games building when it was 2 seperate buildings with the "alley" between tem which is now connected. And the final bunnyhop on Racer which has been removed which would have been to the left of the Flight of Fear entrance is now the brake run.

There is some website with some pics from back in the 80's if anyones interested I'll post the site later.

The Wild Animal Safari Monerail was not closed because someone got mauled. The ride existed at PKI from 1974 through 1993.

In the early 1980's a lion trainer was mauled by a lion. The animal was then put to sleep. However the ride remained open for well over 10 years afterward. Guests were never in danger.

There were several "ponds" along the monerail, one where the drum to FOF now exists, but a much larger one farthur back in the property nearer to the Little Miami.

In the picture of Flight Commander, several maintenance sheds are shown. The largest of which was demolished for Flight of Fear in 1995. If you look at the picture in question it is the building that is farthest to the left and nearest to the bottom behind The Racer's lift. Only that one maintenance building was removed. I believe that the former storage shed for the Monerail (in what is now Action Zone) was used once that building was demolished.
