Gabe Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 I'm with Kat. I just call it the waterpark (esp since I really don't go there all that much in a season). Likewise. I couldn't tell you the old/new names for rides there, except when I'm standing in line and have to endure Paul Hogan's voice telling me 50x an hour if I'm ready for "Blank!" Quote
Jess Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 I always call them by there old names because thats they have been all my life!!! Same here. I like the old names better. That's just what I'm used to. Quote
ftskatie Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 i refer to everything by their old names when i'm like 'yeah, i rode drop zone and/or face/off' and someones like 'ITS Drop Tower and/or Invertigo' i want to shoot them i don't know the new names just don't fit Quote
The Interpreter Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 And what did Paramount Parks call Diamondback? Oh, I remember..."No, thanks!" Quote
Need_for_speed Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 I try to remember and call rides by their new names, but I sometimes slip with Invertigo and Flight Deck. I call The Crypt like it should be, but I almost always call Drop Tower Drop Zone. I'm trying to break my habit. My friend and I have a hard time with it but we are hoping to call them by the new names this summer. Quote
kiruler102 Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 I Think Paramount called Diamondback the long snake thingy from the underground of Rivertown. Quote
The Interpreter Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 No, they called it "not interested." Quote
Oldiesmann Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 I still call them by their old names because I'm still not used to the new names for the most part. Quote
Diamondback96 Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 Bump, but I was redirected to this from another thread. Well they HAD to change the names, CF can't use the name Drop Zone anymore it was the name of a Wesley Snipes movie. If we can't use Drop Zone how come this amusement park in El Paso can? http://www.westernplayland.com/ Because that amusement park in El Paso was not a Paramount Park, so the name Drop Zone (for them) was not a tie-in to the movie. But couldn't DT have been rethemed, and change the name slightly to Drop Zone: Scream Tower? Quote
The Interpreter Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 Could it have been? Sure. Would that have been acceptable to Paramount? Apparently not. Cedar Fair had no reason to invite litigation, especially when it had just paid a sister company $1.24 billion for five parks and associated properties. Quote
coaster_junky Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 i call them by their new names, and the only one that really bugs me is Drop Tower, sorta rct-ish to me and for some really wierd reason i can't get fairly odd coaster to stick in my brain, i'm constantly correcting myself with that one. Quote
The Interpreter Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 That "new name" was actually a Paramount one...and may not be around much longer...or not. Quote
coaster_junky Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 ^and if the rumor from a while back ends up being true, i think it's going to be a little harder to remember to call it "grandSon of Beast" Quote
najellin Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 I think that Fairly Odd Coaster will always be remembered as Beastie to me (it was my first coaster). Flight Deck is Top Gun to me most of the time. Last time I was at the park, I screamed "Let's go, Flight Deck - Jet Coaster" as the ride started to go up the lift hill. I think that it's OK if people call Drop Tower Drop Zone (the full name has both those words in it: Drop Tower: Scream ZONE). Lastly, I think Invertigo is a cool name (it'll give you vertigo and it's inverted), but I still ask my friends, "Do you wanna go 'Scream Your Face Off?'" Quote
CedarPointer Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 Drop Tower is a horrible name. Why not call it Power Tower? Why not call Jukebox Diner "Coasters Drive-in"? Quote
The Interpreter Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 Perhaps because the food at every Coasters Drive In at every Cedar Fair park I have been to that has one has far excelled that which is served at the former Happy Days Diner former Tucker's now known as Juke Box Diner? Quote
coaster_junky Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 since last off season outer hanks didn't become bubba gumps again, will it this off season? Quote
The Interpreter Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Yet again a matter of licensing and fees.... Y'all will know what it is when it opens next year! Quote
CedarPointer Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Perhaps because the food at every Coasters Drive In at every Cedar Fair park I have been to that has one has far excelled that which is served at the former Happy Days Diner former Tucker's now known as Juke Box Diner? Most park guests wouldn't know that. (and, the jukebox is broken anyway) I have to say, I really like the Action Theater logo. Quote
KIfan1980 Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 since last off season outer hanks didn't become bubba gumps again, will it this off season? According to the food allergy information available at Guest Relations, it is called Bubba Gumps ... oh wait, the binder STILL says 2006 Food Allergy Information on the front! Quote
CedarPointer Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Does it say "Paramount's Kings Island"? Quote
terps252006 Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 I call them by whatever I feel at the time. I don't really think I stick to old or new names....just whatever comes out. I Like These Names: The Crypt, Invertigo, I Don't like these names: Flight Deck Drop Tower is so close to the original name that I could care less about that name change. Backlot Stunt Coaster is a ride that I don't really care to ride, nor do I talk much about it, so I could care less what the name is. Flight of Fear was always Outer Limits: Flight of Fear so the name is barely different. Quote
The Interpreter Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 If you could care less, then you do care some. . . Quote
HTCO Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Does it say "Paramount's Kings Island"? One of the schools near me said on there front bill board the other day. "WIN TICKETS TO PARAMOUNT'S Kings Island". How much you wana bet I called them Quote
rotag Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Maybe they have a time machine? But that is funny in retrospect of the name usage. Quote
terps252006 Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 If you could care less, then you do care some. . . ...but still not enough to care what the names are haha touche' Quote
HTCO Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 School FAIL! Funny thing is that is EXACTLY what I screamed when I saw it! Quote
