CedarPointer Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 How often is the 265-foot deck open (the one you get to by taking the elevator on the left)? It was open today, and I had never been up there before, and was quite surprised to see it open. Quote
CoastersRZ Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 If the park is expecting rain, they often open the 265 deck, since it has a roof over it (the floor of the 275' platform), which shields guests from some of the rain. Quote
BoddaH1994 Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 I also believe they open the 2nd platform on days where the park is particularly busy and they have the staffing to do so. Quote
skaterboy22101 Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 The second platform? The only other platform I know of is the 50 ft platform. Quote
Oldiesmann Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 There are actually two platforms at the top - the open air platform and one right below it that's more enclosed. The lower one is generally open on rainy days since it allows guests to enjoy the views without getting drenched in the process. Quote
Oldiesmann Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 This photo clearly shows the twin decks at the top... (original location: http://kingsislandinsider.blogspot.com/200...ower-regal.html). http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_e6DmX3i-ePM/SagQ...-h/DSC_0003.JPG Quote
coaster_junky Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 wow, to tell you the truth i thought that the second elevator was to take you to the 50 ft. deck. Quote
HTCO Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 I knew about the 50ft. deck, but I didn't know they had two at the top! I always thought the bottom one was for maintense(sp?) Quote
Oldiesmann Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 I didn't really notice it either until I worked at the park in 2005. I noticed there were two elevators and that one seemed to go to a lower platform that wasn't open much. I knew a supervisor at the tower who posted on this board, and asked her about it. I was told that the lower one is only open on busy days when they have enough staff or when it's raining. Quote
Jasper Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 If I am correct, you do not take the elevator to the 50 ft. platform you take the stairs. Now it is closed though sadly. Quote
Guest rcfreak339 Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 I think it would be awesome to have a sit down restaurant on the 50 ft deck.... Quote
keiko_coaster Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Whats the iffel tower? ..... Either in your imagination, or if you add an e on top of iffel you get Eiffel Tower, which is built is Paris France.. But in this case, theres one at Kings Island.. THe big thing in the front of the park. Quote
