Your favorite "area" of Kings Island

Featured Replies

OK, here is yet another poll.

What part of the park do you like the best? It can be for any reason, including but not limited to:

"My favorite ride is there"

"I love the theming there"

"There are tons of great rides there"

"My kids/family/friends love that part"

"I spend most of my KI time there"

etc.

I went with Rivertown, because that's where The Beast and Diamondback are. WWC is also good, even if Crypt does sour it a little bit. The theming there is also nice, although Diamondback is just a bit distracting.

Oops! Forgot quality of food!

I'll add that choice...

Rivertown. Both rides and theming. Diamondback + Beast and the area = love.

Oktoberfest

-Best Coaster in the park

-Fishes

-Shade

-Pond

-Lots of good views

-Reminds me of "Old Skewl KI" somewhat.

Rivertown. The only area in the park that has a theme that is carried on through-out the whole section. (Minus The Crypt. Bleh, who even cares about that thing anymore.) Plus Diamondback and Beast. The two best rides in the park.

I'll go ahead and comment on the other areas while I'm at it...

Coney Mall

If Rivertown didn't exist, Coney Mall would have gotten my vote simply for the atmosphere. BLSC hurts it, but does not do any serious damage as I was able to ignore it.

X-Base

It has Flight of Fear, the 3rd of the rides I would give a 10/10 to, but this area just is not big enough yet. Firehawk was a start, but we need more back here before it can even think of challenging Rivertown.

Action Zone

It has some of the best flatrides in the entire park. But when the 3 coasters all get mixed reviews (SOB too rough, FD too short, Invertigo makes me  ) and such generic theming it falls just a bit flat.

Oktoberfest

The theming here is A+, but all it has for rides are Sling Shot(which I feel is more Action Zone), Adventure Express, and Viking Fury. But you can get great food, too. I enjoyed it even though we rode nothing here on our trip (will not make mistake next time, so beware, Adventure Express!).

International Street

Great theming, only a few rides. But it hosts one of the park's star attractions: The Eiffel Tower. And most of the shops. Kudos for that. And this area really wasn't meant for rides anyhow.

Nick U

Hanna-Barbera Land was better. This area is way, way too genericly Nick-themed! Kids probably love it. As for me...BLAGH. <_<

Boomerang Bay

I have never even seen Boomerang Bay. When we went, it was May 16th...it wasn't open. And I didn't remember to look for it from the Eiffel Tower. Oops. I was too busy starting at SOB(it LOOKS impressive, have never rode it), searching the woods to see if I could spot The Beast(found it!), or watching Diamondback.

Thank you.

I had to go with Rivertown because my favorite ride, Beast, is there.

blsc is technically part of rivertown

So is Vortex. It passes right by Beast.

Maybe that's how I was able to ignore BLSC when judging Coney Mall. It really is just "it's own thing", as is the case with Vortex as well. These rides are in a "transitional area" between Coney Mall and Rivertown, behind the Eiffel Tower.

I voted International Street and Theming, because however many times I go to KI I can't get over how beautiful the sight of the Eiffel Tower and the fountain together is. But I also like it for the food cause that's where the Cinnabon store is.

Cinnabon, Justin's guilty little pleasure :D

I voted for Action Zone. As nice as Rivertown looks, I always find myself back in Action Zone. There's so much energy in that part of the park, especially with Drop Tower on center stage.

There was a time when I would have said Coney Mall hands down, but the traditional aspect of CM, except the scrambler and the monster and I never liked the Dodgem, it just don't have the charm anymore, it really hasn't been the same since the Antique Cars left, not just the ride but it was pretty and fun to look at.

Rivertown is my favorite- many great coasters, good theming.

Theming wise, I would have to say Octoberfest.

And thanks to Mcsalsa for another great poll :)

X-Base, because it has 2 of my Top 3 rides at KI in it. I just can't stay away!

Rivertown. Beast and Diamondback, the two best rides in the park IMO, respectively. Add in the good Western theming, and you get the best part of the park. Not to mention the potato works...

Rivertown FTW!

Well im going to have to go with Rivertown. I like the theming and atmosphere. Plus it has the 2 best coasters in the park! DB and The Beast!

and HTCO: "haha there also seem to always be girls dancing in front of Wings"......hahahaha

And fixing there hair. I hate when pre-teens think there cool because they just turned 13 yesterday... I wonder what the people inside Wings was thinking when they look out the window and they see 2 little girls shaking there booty to a song while fixing there hair.... hahaha!

My favorite area use to be Coney Mall. But now its River Town. I love the new landscaping, and they did a lot this off season to make it look amazing.

hahahaa i know!!!! that was hillarious!

Rivertown, because that is where two of my favorite coasters are: The Beast and Diamondback. Also, I like the landscaping, there are nice benches, shade, WWC.

International Street! I still get chills up my spine when I see this walking into and out of the park, like I did when I was a little kid. That feeling has never gone away.

Coney Mall for me. I love the old-fashioned amusement park themeing, and I can never get enough of the classic rides.

This is a Great Poll! It's a Very Tough Choice.

I love International Street, it's one of the more Original KI Areas, and hasn't changed too much since opening. But the New CF Music ruins the area...

Action Zone has 3 Of my Favorite Rides in the park, Drop Zone, Top Gun, and Son of Beast. Even though it's very Generic, Random, Has No Shade, I just love it. Back in the Paramount Days it was Even Better and Felt like a Movie Studio. Son of Beast fits great where it's at, it's back story matched it's location being in the former Lion Country Safari Area. If the Go karts were removed and replaced with something nice, and Congo was also removed than the area would be perfect.

Oktoberfest is also one of the Old KI areas. But it's Supposed to Be German yet not much really is. Viking Fury, Vikings are from Norway, and live by the Ocean, Germany is landlocked. Adventure Express is amazing, but It's more of a South America/Asia/Africa themed ride, not European. Festhaus lost all it's German feel when they Added Country Shows, Asian Food, Italian Food, and the Glockenspiel was removed. Slingshot fits the theme cause Oktoberfest is a German Festival, alot of which feature Carnival Style Rides and Slingshots are sometimes in Oktoberfest's in Germany. As much as I like this area, it's not my favorite.

Old Coney is a really nice area. It's just missing some things. Racer makes a Great Backdrop for that side of the Midway, but It needs some TLC (Paint, Cleaned, Reverse Train.) The area has enough rides and games, but there isn't a whole lot to eat and only 1 Shop. I think there should be a Building that sells Cotton Candy, and Blue Ice Cream in Coney. A Ferris Wheel and Screamin' Swing would look great in the Flight Commander Lot. They need to make some of the old buildings Gift Shops selling Random stuff, and Park Merchandise. X-BASE also needs to just be it's own area. Overall Coney Mall is probably My Favorite area in the park.

Rivertown is and okay area. Although Diamondback is such a Great Addition to KI, I liked Rivertown ALOT better when Diamondback wasn't around. The area isn't supposed to be Western, it's supposed to be a Mining Town in the Ohio River Valley. Crypt Should Just be Removed and a Heavily Themed (Mine Themed) Ride Needs to go in it's Place. Beast Fit's in Great Here. The Basketball Game needs to go. KI&MVRR Needs to be themed like it used to, and the Dip N Dots signs need to be removed and they need to Put the Ride's name there so people can find it. White Water Canyon fits in great Here, but it would be great if it got a New name something to do with the Little Miami River or Ohio River. Diamondback kind of looks weird where it is. It's so close to Nickelodeon Universe, it looks like it's in that area. The area is also not Shaded enough, they need to plant trees. I really don't care for Rivertown anymore.

I wonder if your computer would crash if you chose Action Zone because of it's theming?

My favorite is River Town I just love the old town feeling of it with all the trees.
