An idea that popped in my head. We all want the most exciting, intense ride possible. But, usually in the case of a wooden coasters, how much roughness can you withstand as you aim for that goal?

I can handle a bit of roughness myself, or even needing advil. But go any further and I'm done.

Some rides are kinda hard for me... I'm a big guy (6'4"). I get thrown around and my knees just beat around on everything. I can't stand pain on a rollercoater because if I get some, it's gonna be alot.

Sigh. Why do so many of our younger posters think wood coasters are supposed to be rough?

Terpy, who:

* Knows the roughest ride he ever rode was steel, not wood...and isn't sure which one it was, but you could pick from Ninja at Six Flags Over Georgia, Drachen Fire, Steel Phantom, Chiller, Mr. Freeze (the last two with the original over the shoulder restraints), and not be very wrong.

* Adores The Georgia Cyclone and Tremors, both very violent coasters, but not very rough...there is a huge difference.

I can handle a bit of roughness. If I'm thrown around a bit, shaken around a little that's ok. But if it leaves me in pain, then I see no reason to ride it.

I agree, what's the point of riding anything if it puts you in pain? Like Stalkerchick said, why would you put your hand on a hot stove burner?

I think I've proven that I can tolerate roughness very well...take the trims off Mean Streak please!

If it's enough to still leave my neck in pain a year later (SoB what?), then I won't ride it. And, I guess you could say I would ride unsafe coasters, since I have...

Do tell! Which one(s), and we'll see if I have to argue!

How I loved Georgia Cyclone. That was such a good coaster!! I love a coaster that can shove me halfway out of the lap bar due to the loose restraints!

Twister II at (at the time) Six Flags Elitch Gardens. It was the most poorly maintained coaster I have EVER been on. I saw it all: cracked boards, trains making disturbing noises, and track making some interesting cracking noises, too!

A discussion about pain, you say?

I rode Magnum XL-200 trimless in a downpour. :D

Hearse for Giga I presume! :P

I voted for Advil roughness. If you are not willing to take a little pain and discomfort then you might as well stay over in Nick-U.
