I think Diamondback will definitively what about you all?

Well I think Manta will, and also Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit(If it ever opens up). I'm not very sure it. Ring Racer also opened up this year, same with Saw: The Ride, and Prowler(which I heard was AMAZING) It might, but thats for time to tell.

I would not be surprised if it gets best new ride of 2009.

Diamondback certainly has the buzz and magnitude to garner that kind of attention. The competition seems to be in more touristy locales, but we'll see.

What is so 'gimmicky' about manta?

I think definately Manta and Diamondback will be in the top 3. I'm not sure what will win, though.

My money is on Diamondback.

Saw should get it, but since it is kinda "gruesome" (with movie and all) it won't win. It has to be family friendly.

I'm thinking Rockit has the better shot of becoming Best New Ride for 2009 because of all the technological aspects of the ride, despite it not being open yet. Followed by Manta due to the overall experience of the attraction (queue line, atmosphere/scenery). Followed by Diamondback as the only coaster of its kind with a splashdown and its layout.

The question is the top 3 best new coasters according to whom? Dick Kinzel? National Geographic? Dan Shapiro? ACE? Amusement Today? Paul Reuben? The Discovery Channel? Gallup? This website?

I would go with Amusement Today. They are the ones with the golden tickets. I have never seen a park put up an award from anyone else.

I would put money on Diamondback getting #1.

On several websites I saw that people's favorites coasters of 09 were Diamondback, Manta, and I don't know the other one, but I'm pretty sure Diamondback is very close to getting the best coaster of 09.

I haven't been on Manta but from pictures I would vote for that ride. The theming is just amazing.

I think Diamondback will win, if not come in second. The only reason Manta would win is because of the theming.

I don't think Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit even looks good at all. Same thing with Ring Racer, it's basically Top Thrill Dragster or Kingda Ka without the exciting huge hill. Yawn... Terminator seems too short for me, so I don't think it will win.
