The Interpreter
GOLD Coast theme park patrons eating lunch in the carpark after a controversial new ban on food brought from home. Angry patrons have slammed the move as a money grab, while consumer group Choice is urging the public to challenge the parks by defying the restriction. The Warner Village Theme Park Group, which owns Sea World and Movie World, has just introduced the ban on packed lunches. Eskies have been banned and security guards have begun searching patrons' bags for sandwiches and snacks.... "The food they sell in the theme parks costs so much and it's not healthy," said Mrs Terry, who smuggled in snacks for her children. Choice spokesman Christopher Zinn said the cut-lunch ban was "totally ridiculous" although probably legal. "It looks purely another excuse to gouge people," he told ABC Radio.... http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0...05-3102,00.html
Beast1979
It's only a matter of time until Cedar Fair has one of those "Ah ha!" moments, I guess. Then we'll all have to eat at... *shivers* Jukebox Diner......
Touchdown
They really cant restrict people as long as their determined. Sure you could say that a tailgate picnic or one off to the side is a "safety issue" but if people are eating their picnic inside their car there really is nothing the company could do about that. CedarPointer
Next, it'll be "no re-entry during regular season".
KI-ORIG-EMP
The parks will change their mind when it begins to effect thier mind. All it takes will be for people to start going to more "food friendly" parks and they will relax the rules or change the prices and variety of foods. I can see see not allowing guests to bring in complete picnic or meals but not a snack or a single serve drink, especially for small kids. But anybody that requires a special diet due to health restrictions or for an infant should be allowed.

KIfan1980
But anybody that requires a special diet due to health restrictions or for an infant should be allowed. I have two family members that are on special diets due to food allergies and I HATE having to take food into the park when I want to eat a meal there. At some parks (Cedar Point, Holiday World, and Silver Dollar City for example) I wouldn't have to because these parks have up to date and accurate allergy information available on their website and in the case of Silver Dollar City, knowledgable associates at food service establishments. Kings Island on the other hand has nothing on their web site, associates who tell you to visit guest services, and a Food Allergy binder in Guest Services that has the following on the cover "2006 Season" Information. You can imagine how much confidence this inspires. And yes, I did point this out to the nice associate and supervisor in Guest Services when I first noticed it in May. I also sent an email with a request for allergy information and mentioned the binder to Guest Services in May (got no response). Finally, I decided to check on the binder twice in June - it was unchanged both times (I mentioned it both times) before I finally gave up. I guess Cedar Fair can live without any nickels that I'd have liked to spend on food.

Try contacting the county health commissioner (see http://www.co.warren.oh.us/health/board.htm for contact information). I'm sure he can get results, especially since the vice president of the board of health is the one who handles the Mason area...
Dvo
Next thing you know, there's a dedicated area in the parking lot just for cars who plan on "tailgating." I should shut my mouth before they get ideas...

The Interpreter
They'd almost be within good sense so to do. Ever see the huge mess SOME parking lot eaters leave?
