June 1, 201016 yr We are going on a class trip to KI Friday, I heard a kid say Diamondback was a crappy coaster because all it did was launch to 100mph then go up then back down. I think he was thinking of TTD...
June 10, 201016 yr I just read this on Facebook... Son of Beast isnt closing, theyre adding a tunnel to it for next year.
June 10, 201016 yr no what i hate is when i hear people talking about Son of Beast and they are like " yea a couple of people died on that thing thats why its closed". lol come on people for one if people died on any roller coaster do u thing the roller coaster would still be up? lol get ur facts straight.
June 10, 201016 yr no what i hate is when i hear people talking about Son of Beast and they are like " yea a couple of people died on that thing thats why its closed". lol come on people for one if people died on any roller coaster do u thing the roller coaster would still be up? lol get ur facts straight. Yes. People have died on many roller coasters that are still open today. We can start with Rolling Thunder at Great Adventure (which coaster has had more than one death, sad to say), move on to Shockwave at Kings Dominion, Raven at Holiday World, Roller Coaster at Lagoon, Timberwolf at Worlds of Fun, The Coney Island Cyclone, etc. Just because a roller coaster has a death does not necessarily mean the coaster caused it...nor that, even if it did, the coaster will close forever.
June 10, 201016 yr Someone also died after riding Firehawk, he stopped breathing while on the ride and it's still running.
June 10, 201016 yr Indeed. However, each of the coasters I listed had someone die on them on the ride, while riding, as a result of rider misconduct or the physical action of the ride itself. In the Firehawk incident, it is very likely the death would have resulted had the rider never ridden Firehawk...
June 10, 201016 yr Or it may have been like SOB where he had a pre-existing health condition and he ignored the signs.
June 10, 201016 yr ...or the person may not have even known they had such a condition. Of interest in that regard, look at New York City's defense in a Cyclone case: A California musician who died days after riding the Cyclone should have known that riding the rickety 80-year-old Coney Island coaster is dangerous, the city says in new court papers....In court papers filed yesterday in Manhattan Federal Court, city attorney Cynthia Goldman said Shirasawa should have known the risks involved. "Any and all risks, hazards, defects and dangers to the extent alleged are of an open, obvious, apparent and inherent nature known and should have been known to [shirasawa]," Goldman wrote.... His attorney says three others suffered serious back injuries on the Cyclone in the weeks before Shirasawa died. Shirasawa attorney Marc Stadtmauer blames Shirasawa's injury on a brake that should have been replaced as well as an "antiquated" single position lap bar. http://www.nydailyne...e_city_cla.html
June 17, 201016 yr I was looking on Vodhins at a BLSC recreation and here is what someone commented. Lol yes! We have this at what used to be Paramount's Kings Island until thatpurchasefrom Six flags. :T Awesome coaster, and great re-creation! http://www.vodhin.org/e107/download.php?view.966
June 17, 201016 yr I know this is going back a lot of posts, but somebody should create a 'The Vortex is NOT Sinking' Facebook group. Sorry, I'm not a real Facebook wizard; I don't know how.
June 17, 201016 yr still building it, but here it is so far. (i added a little something extra to the group.) http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=128424093855061
June 17, 201016 yr okay, am i showing up as "Vortex and magnum xl-200 are NOT sinking" on your all's facebook profiles? if not, how do i?
June 17, 201016 yr I am the 11th! For some reason, every time someone I know mentions Delirium, someone says they remember when the restraints unlocked and everyone fell out.
June 18, 201016 yr My friend and I were watching POVs of King Cobra on YouTube. Of course here comes along the questions - he asks, "Where is that ride now?" I say taken down. "Why? I think another stand up coaster had people that fell out of it, so they had to close it down." My response: "Ya, sure."
June 18, 201016 yr Going back to the "Vortex is NOT Sinking" Facebook group, since I suggested it, would that make me the co-founder or something?
June 18, 201016 yr sure, i'll set you up as an admin. well, i guess it would work better if i knew you're name.
July 2, 201016 yr http://www.facebook.com/dorneypark#!/dorneypark?v=wall Kyle Ryan is it true they have to take down Steel Force because its sinking or something??? thats what i heard and a response of Acer BryanHmm that person got the rides wrong he means is the Top Thrill Dragster is sinking Is every coaster "sinking". sigh.
July 5, 201016 yr no what i hate is when i hear people talking about Son of Beast and they are like " yea a couple of people died on that thing thats why its closed". lol come on people for one if people died on any roller coaster do u thing the roller coaster would still be up? lol get ur facts straight. July 6, 201016 yr At Dorney Park last week... "See that! That's Demon Drop! They brought that all the way from Germany!"
July 6, 201016 yr on a facebook Son of Beast page: When they tear it down, they should put The Vortex there so they don't have to get rid of it too!
July 6, 201016 yr ^ I heard on Youtube that since Vortex was built on swampy land and is sinking, they're tearing down Son of Beast and putting Vortex there. Where do people get these things?!
July 7, 201016 yr I went to the preview of Despicable Me last night in Springdale, and when they dimmed the lights before the movie, someone in the row behind me said, "Maybe it's a power outage. Oh wait, no, that's Kings Island!"
July 8, 201016 yr Comments from youtube Son of Beast video: "Wow she got hurt after Son of Beasts loop? I bet she wuld die on Firehawk and Vortex" "They lied then this was open yesterday." (comment posted one month ago) and my favorite "This is why Ohio is the best state... And they took out a loop cause it fell off at the top."
