SoB's trains were modified to fit SoB's wide track and cannot be used on another coaster.

and they can never be re-modified to fit another coaster? I slightly doubt that, no offense..... plus they could always part them out... sell it for scrap... I just dont think you will ever see a roller coaster train, in this day and age, head to Mt Rumpke...

I doubt that it would be cost-effective to modify the trains again, and doesn't CF have G-trains from GL?

So I couldnt find the price to buy a new/used train versus modifying an existing train, so unless you find that price I will agree to disagree with you. Now I have no idea why the train is just sitting on the ground. Now my only point, not trying to start a fight, is that a park would most likely, again IMO, try to make money off of something they are no longer using. Now if they were to throw the train out, dont you think there would be a bunch of people trying to steal it? Oh well.... I did find this site while looking up prices.... they have an Boomerang Intvert for sale.... lol

Wow, this whole thing about SOB is getting out of hand. So many different events, and soon leading up to......what? I've been trying to follow this thread, and what I have followed, people keep on saying these crazy rumors!

What I'm trying to say is.......2 choices: destroy it or keep it. Is KI have trouble deciding or something????

Well I am sure CF has or has not decided on this ride. Its not just a matter of one issue but multiple issues including but not limited to: Cost, Safety, Ridership, Moon phase, and the cost of lumber...... (the last two are tongue in cheek).... There are no crazy rumors on here, just people reporting what is being done to the ride and others speculating what it could mean, IE - the signs being taken down, some people thought nothing and some people thought it meant the ride was dead. Turns out they used part of the que for top gu/I mean Flight Deck. So yea no one really is saying a bunch of crazy rumors, and its more of a discussion about the future of the ride as we all wait for CF to let us know what is going on. And who knows we may not find out till next year....

Yes, and if I'm not mistaken, they were reported a year or two back as being at Kings Island, supposedly for spare parts like the 3rd X-Flight train.

I believe new trains can go for around one million dollars. I totally agree with you that the park would probably scrap the trains. MY questions is: If the park is going to scrap the trains, why not just leave them sit under the station? It isn't hurting anything. I doubt any park would buyh the whole train to use, as they'd have the price to buy them, then pay money to refit them. My guess is the trains will be scraped.

You realize the park still has the first sob trains, parts of the old FOF trains, up until recently the King Cobra trains, and a entire set of monster tubs.

I don't see why yawl are getting worked up over the red and blue trains being taken off the track.... they do this every year. I don't see anyone freaking out that Congo Fall boats aren't in the trough anymore.

I totally understand what you're saying, I was just making a point. They might still have the old SON trains for parts, the FOF train for parts, and Monster tubs for parts. The reason people are wondering about the SOB trains being off the track is there is a difference between being taken off for the season and just being taken off. I don't see the park taking trains off the track and just sitting them on rough, uneven gravel as I would think that could hurt the trains. Whereas the Congo Falls boats are taken off and stored for maintenance.

They usually have wooden skids for each type of train for them to sit on. My guess is that there just waiting for the picnic grove Hallofest to be over then they can move them over there. There just trying to get a jump start on off season maintenance. Similar to Blue Racer, one could say. :)

I mean lets face it , the future of SOB is in the air. This is just futher evidenance that "may" support its fate. Like topgun stated when trains are stored for offseason they are protected by placing them on a skid and covered like the picture shows. so either there is plans for new trains or its not a concern to protect the current ones due to a defunct anouncment. who knows . expect to hear somthing after the first of the year. ;)

Here's the thing- if I were KI, I'd be making sure to tread very carefully in matters of actions that may ignite the ol' rumor mill. They've done the opposite- removing the signage, removing the trains early, removing references to it on VisitKingsIsland.com, etc.

"Rumors" dont matter when the "FACTS" will always "WIN"

Yes the facts usually win but in OJ Simpons case. I really don't know what to think about Son of Beast. It would be odd not seeing it in the Kings Island skyline though.

"If there aint no train, you must explain" or something like that... Yeah I agree I had some image of the SOB trains just sitting on uneven mounds of gravel rotting in the weather. Either way the future of SOB is up to people much much smarter than us... BTW nice pic of the SOB trains under covers, looks like the Delorean in Back to the Future 3.....

they still have them today, i believe. they did put them out for the 07 haunt out front with skeletons with broken necks and backs lol! but i agree, they do need to get this mess over with. you have 192381023820 people just either spreading rumors or getting angry it isnt open all year when they walk up to it. its adds up to being a nightmare for not only Kings Island, but for the workers who have to deal with that question id imagine on a daily basis. Id hate to want to answer it with my mouth tied behind my back.

They removed the signage because they rerouted the TOPGUN que through the current SOB que, because of Club Blood.

And why leave the trains on the track when its been stated the ride is closed for the season?

And seen this link?- http://visitkingsisland.com/attractions/detail.cfm?ai_id=156

Correct, we already knew it was closed for the rest of the season, so we should'nt be surprised the trains are off the track. Good point TOPGUN1993.
