The Son of Beast Discussion Thread

As they said, "A decision on the future of Son of Beast will not be made until the offseason." This is what clues into for me the removal for the ride. If they announced today, before Season passes go on sale, that the ride is pending removal, we would have a situation similar to Big Bad Wolf this year or the Flying Eagles years ago. Uproar, madness, protests, fans chaining themselves to the ride, aka more bad publicity and situations for the park. So, wait until the offseason when no one can do anything. Get rid of the ride, the signs, any trace of it, by 2012 barely anyone will remember. Supposedly.

If they were planning to reopen it, why wait until next year? Why spend countless months sitting and waiting while people spread rumors, create jab, and, most importantly, walk up to the entrance and realize they can't ride.

And if they were to retrack it, revamp it, or modify it, why not market it? "A newer, smoother, better Beast, coming in 2010"? Or at least TELL people that it will reopen next year, as to diminish the rumors and, maybe even, get people to buy tickets in advance for next year so they can ride it?

If you look at the facts, not through your personal subjective, simple things can say quite a lot.

Wait, are we talking about The Beast of Son of Beast? :P

Well, they may not market is as going to reopen next year because they may honestly not know if it will reopen next year. IF they are planning on doing a major overhaul, they may not know if it would be ready to open next year. It may be 2011 before it can reopen.

^ But both owners of the park have already put in an enormous amount of money and time; and when it comes to SoB, secifically planning and re-engineering, time is money.

Effort was made to solve SoB's problems, and much of the effort was thinking outside the box. But it is time to stop throwing good money after bad.

If you truly believed your own words, you would change your avatar, and pick a new NFL team!!!

Don't get upset now, I'm just joking around. Trying to have a little fun.

:)

That was funny.

Think, if you were the park in this situation, would wait until the offseason just to make a decision about it? And if you did, would you honestly take THIS long?

Maybe they do know they are doing rehab on it. You can't just call up a company and say "We need major construction done in the next month." It takes time to get contracts finalized, a company would have to have time in their schedule for such a large project, you need to get all of the materials and supplies, etc. KI may know they are doing rehab this offseason. They just may not know how long it will take. They may have been told it would be done next July, but they don't want to tell people incase it isn't ready by the end of next season even. See where I'm heading. They are covering their butts (sorta) like others have said.

^I understand that, but still, why not let people know? Wouldn't you like to let your guests know that the ride will reopen next year, and put and end to the harmful rumor spreading and guest dissatisfaction?

He's saying, if they are planning to do an overhaul but don't know when that overhaul would be completed, then they don't want to say anything yet. Like if they said "Come ride a better Son of Beast in late 2010!" But then ran into delays, and couldn't open it until 2011. Then guests would be upset. So they might just be waiting until they can get a better idea of when/if the ride could reopen.

Then why wouldn't they just say "We're reopening it, hopefully next year." instead of "We'll decide whether or not to reopen it over the offseason."? Face it, SoB is most likely leaving.

"Hey guys: we're tearing down The Crypt and Son of Beast and replacing the US's most popular kids franchise with an old, tired one! Hope you all still buy passes!"

Yeah, that wouldn't go over well.

Let's all go chain ourselves to NU!

Let's revamp our Trailer Tower to a Nick U stake out. I'll be busy chaining myself to the overhang with the SDATHC logo on it if anyone needs me.

Because people will hear the "We're reopening it" or "we're reopening it...next year." Also, why even say something when the reopening will probably be a ways off. They may annoucne it within a couple weeks of Haunt ending. Haunt is a HUGE thing to 'coordinate.' They may just want to get through it first. And, I do believe they said they would make a decision about the future of the ride (or whatg to do with it) during the offseason. I don't think they said anything about deciding "whether or not to reopen it."

I may be wrong about that, but I just don't remember reading anything about whther or not to reopen it. Actually:

...But park officials said they were not satisfied with the ride experience and would decide what to do with the Son of Beast ride during the offseason.

Park officials did not specify which options they would consider for the ride, which featured a vertical loop when it opened in 2000...

http://www.wlwt.com/news/20345973/detail.html

So, they were deciding what to do. Some people assumed they were just deciding on whether or not to reopen it.

Well there are a lot of clues that SOB will be gone next year or 2011.

1) The logo in the crate in front of SOB is gone.

2) It's closed for the rest of this season.

3) It's not on the Haunt website (if that has to do with it)

4) It has been closed for 4 years total (I think) and that is just crazy.

1. The crate is used for Club Blood's sign.

2. Well, they are deciding what to do with it. Also, it is closed for the rest of this season, not others (yet).

3. Well, why post it if it isn't open? You wouldn't want park guests asking how to get there if it isn't open.

4. I don't think it has been that much.

Probably whenever it's closed they don't show it. What's the point of showing it if it's closed?

To give us something to talk about here on these forums like we are doing right now. Speculating and rumors prove to be some of the most interesting forum talk around for some reason.
