Yea but doesnt steel hold better then wood. I mean a karate man can break wood with his head steel can not be broken with a head unless a head wants to be broken by steel.

I believe you mean to say that wood is more easily broken than steel which is true. However with a decent tracking and real wood coaster management (not slapping on a set of trim breaks *cough*Cedar Fair*cough*) a launched wooden coaster could be exciting and enjoyable.

I would like to meet the Karate man that can break 6 or 8 2X8's stacked on top of one another.

Wooden coasters don't break because the stress causes them to "flex", same as steel.

I have been in the wood business for a long time, and take it from me. Enjoy the wooden coasters while you can.

The cost, and supply of wood has increased so much, I would be amazed if anyone ever got close to reaching The Beast on length of track. It "wood" cost them a fortune to do that.

Never say never, but it is really amazing how much wood has increased in price. Steel has went up dramatically as well, but I don't think it is quite as much. Plus you can do more with less, as far as steel goes.

I have obviously been away for quite a while. WOW this is a lot of pages for a single topic. SOB. Honestly I have not rode the S.O.B. since 2002 I think. It hurt my back so badly, I swore I would never get back on it again. Kind of like it's opening day. I remember standing in line for this thing for hours. The people in front of me were playing cards, and picking up their hands and moving them down the line as it slowely crept along. My 1st ride on this thing on that day was when it was starting to get dark. I remember how much I hurt when I got off of it. I think I honestly felt sore for about a month. ( thats what I get for being a test dummy ) If I remember right it was about a month before it was open again after that day. So naturally, I endeavoured for even more pain, and continued to ride it. I think it was in 2002 like I said earlier when I finally decided that it was getting too rough, and I made the solid decision that I would never ride it again. Whatever decision awaits Son of Beast is perfectly fine with me. Although, I honestly favor tearing it down.

It's around 450 something, I can't remember exactly, but it was set by the "Rumor Coaster for 2009" topic, started in late October 2007, closed August 6 2008.

But I believe that thread only had 10 pages of useful info

Last night there was an obvious reason they had taken down all the line signage for SOB. They converted the normal entrance to SOB into the line for FD due to the line for Club Blood.

Yea I noticed that to my freind got lost somehow when he was looking for me when I told him I was going back to FlightDeck and he ended up going through Club Blood without me. Which made me mad but I will go in tonight.

the more rides open the better....... and by saying this topic has 0 pages of useful information is an insult to everyone who has attempted to offer up information or discussions about this current situation. I would say that the information discussing previous incidents on this ride is important. Current events happening around SOB is also very important. Coaster Kid be very careful when you make assumptions about anything because most times a quick off the cuff remark can be regretted later.

That being said back to SOB........

^^Not every person that is in a suit and is looking at Son of Beast is necessarily important. I once read on here people have wore suits to parks before, and that doesn't mean they're important (and I'm not implying they aren't important).
