The Interpreter
...The base price of a one-day, one-park adult ticket will increase from $75 to $79 and the ticket price for children ages 3 – 9 will rise from $63 to $68. Prices for the resort's multiday-ticket packages will also rise between 2.6 and 4.7 percent on Sunday. Disney told the Orlando Sentinel that the price represents a good value for consumers, even after the price hike. The theme park last raised admission prices in August of 2008. http://cbs4.com/consumer/disney.world.prices.2.1110670.html
IndyGuy4KI
$68 for my 3 year old to go to the park? Is that a season pass or one day? Another reason why I don't visit the park with Mouse Ears!
The Interpreter
That's one day. There is a huge quality difference in both the parks themselves and the experiences found at Disney and Universal as opposed to elsewhere (yes, even Busch Entertainment). Someone must pay for that difference. That difference is even more when you think about it, since the regional/seasonal parks often throw pricing integrity to the wind with deals as cheap as $4.44 to get in...or in Paramount's case, even Bring-A-Friend-Free. Even Busch has the Florida resident buy a day, get a season deal from time to time.

The Interpreter
It is quite possible to have a very economical vacation at Disney. Much of the in park pricing is actually less...in some cases far less, than that found at the regional, seasonal parks. Food pricing, in particular, is substantially lower for better quality items on the same tier. That being said, it is also quite possible for a family of four to spend many thousands of dollars at Disney in a multiple day visit. It's all about knowledge and choices. I, for instance, still have a day left over on a parkhopper package bought many, many years ago.
Diamondback FOF
Did that parkhopper day expire since it is from such a long time ago? Also, my mom, sister, niece, and I went to Disney last year and we didn't spend thousands of dollars. I think it ended up being less than $2000, and we still had a great time. I don't know if it was because it was our first visit (well, my sister had went like 10 or 15 years ago), but I doubt it. We had a really great time without breaking the bank. The Interpreter
Until a few years ago, parkhoppers never expired. Now they do unless you buy the no-expiration option, which I would.
flightoffear1996
Lets see if you have a family of 4 and would like to go to Disney for just 3 or 4 days that would cost $1,216 just in admission tickets. What a waste of money.
DeLorean Rider
Indeed. Possibly the most economical thing to do is to purchase a 10 day park hopper and add the never expire option. Ticket prices begin to drop dramatically once you add more days. Below is the pricing breakdown for standard park hoppers. Price Per Day _____Days_______Ages 10+_______Ages 3-9_______Total Price 1 Day Ticket_______$131.00_______$120.00_______$131.00 2 Day Ticket_______$104.00_______$92.50_______$208.00 3 Day Ticket_______$90.33_______$79.67_______$271.00 4 Day Ticket_______$69.25_______$61.00_______$277.00 5 Day Ticket_______$56.00_______$49.40_______$280.00 6 Day Ticket_______$47.17_______$41.67_______$283.00 7 Day Ticket_______ $40.86_______$36.14_______$286.00 8 Day Ticket_______ $36.13_______$32.00 _______$289.00 9 Day Ticket_______ $32.44_______$28.78 _______$292.00 10 Day Ticket_______$29.50_______$26.20_______$295.
DaveStroem
Disney is not about going for a single day. It is about a vacation long trip. We are going to the mouse house for 5 days the total for the 4 of us will be just under $1400 including hotel, tickets & the dining plan. The meals that we will be enjoying will include Filet Mingon at Le Cellier & other fine dining that is just not available at any other park I have been too. Since my trip is booked at the old prices, I wonder if my Birthday gift card will be for the new or old amount.
Avatar
Going to Disney is similar to many other parks if you walk up to the gate like Kings Island you'll pay full price. But with a little planning discounts and promotions are out there that can really save you money. Many question the park ticket increase during times like these, but remember Disney World is a international destination point and since the dollar is week here in the US many world travelers take advantage and travel at times like these. Like Dave said above Disney is pieced as a destination for longer visits and charge more for the single day visitors. For those who have been know Disney really goes above and beyond in there attraction and entertainment choices at the park so single day visitors should pay a fair price. Keep in mind Disney offers the Fast Pass system to all it's guests at no charge. I have read else where where some question why they are offering the free dinning so much then charge higher prices at the gate. I'll try to answer in my own words. The word is guest spending in the park is down, so by Disney offering free dinning if you stay at their resort they have gotten you pay for your tickets and room stay 45 days before arrival. Therefore that gives the guest 45 more days to save and then to bring that money to spend in the parks as there is little else to spend it on. I think this promotion is cleaver. Another thing to add to the mix of park increases is remember the national minimum wage went up recently that means everything goes up to cover the addition cost that employers now need to pay out and that includes theme/amusement parks. Dave if you included the magic your way tickets with your room at Disney and already paid for them then you'll need to pay the difference when you get there. If you have not paid for your tickets already then they will automatically increase that price in your invoice. That is the way they have done with us this past three years as Disney always raise their prices on the first Sunday in August. I do believe the B-Day card allowance is increased to the new ticket price. Have fun.
RailRider
Like Avatar and others have said. Disney does not want you to come for just one day. Disney is more economical if you visit multiple days, stay at a resort, use Disney transportation and take advantage of the dinning plan. As someone wise in these matters has taught me. If you are committed to Disney take advantage of the discounts and the package deals they offer and the trip becomes more affordable, the worst mistake you can make is buying a Disney one day ticket.
