Diamondback96
Keep in mind: before NU, the Best Kids Area award was for both NC and H-B Land. Terpy posted it once, I think.
The Interpreter
Twasn't me, unless it was in a link I posted. I put about as much faith in Golden Ticket Awards as I do in palm readers, tarot card readers and those who predict jury verdicts...which is to say none. Scooby_Doo
I really hope they decorate Planet Snoopy well or else Wild Thornberries will become "Snoopys Water ride Of Nothing!" I wonder if Planet Snoopy will be as popular as NU? It's gotten that Best award in the past, and I think that had to do with the theme. Kids can readily identify Spongebob and Dora the Explorer, but I foresee lots of parents explaining who 'Linus' is while in line next year.... I had to make sure my own kids knew who the Peanuts were by attacking them with my own collection of holiday classics and comic strip books. Not sure that all of today's kids know that much about Snoopy outside of MetLife commercials. Does this theme connect with kids well at Cedar Point? It must be if they are doing it down here, yeah, but I wonder if it will be as big a hit when it is coming in to replace heavy hitters like Scooby Doo. I loves me some Snoopy, but Scooby Doo is a formidable opponent. I think we may see Snoopy's River Adventure... and alluna I couldn't agree with you more but I still think Snoopy is a Cedar Point thing... The Interpreter
Somebody better tell Dorney and Knott's, to name just two, about how Snoopy is a Cedar Point thing. . .
buckeyemaniac
I swear I'll burn the log flume down if they make it snoopy themed!! I'm tired of people associating it with the kids area. We are part of Rivertown!

We are part of Rivertown! Now, Now Milton. Lets not get carried away! LOL Seriously, I think that just because it is a small ride, it will stay a part of kiddie land. It does sound kind of funny though, it is supposed to be Peanuts themed. All I hear about is Snoopy Log Flume, Snoopy Coasters, both Avatar and Fairly odd coaster. Snoopy helicopters. C'mon guys, you gotta come up with some character ideas other than just Snoopy! LOL

Kids can readily identify Spongebob and Dora the Explorer, but I foresee lots of parents explaining who 'Linus' is while in line next year.... Kings Island got the Best Kids' Area Award in 2001 because they installed an inverted coaster for kids to ride, the first of its kind in the world (along with Silver Streak at Canada's Wonderland), and bumping up the number of kids' coasters to four (Reptar, Taxi Jam, Beastie, and Ghoaster Coaster), not because it was themed to a Nickelodeon property. Given your standards (and no, I don't have much faith in the award recognition)... CP has won best park 9 years in a row with practically zero themeing. I don't think this going to be an issue, but, what is wrong with parents explaining who Linus is? Given how much the Nick characters the kids see today, it very well could be a nice change of pace for kids and open their minds that there are more things than Nick. PREMiERdrum
CP has won best park 9 years in a row with practically zero themeing. I see what you're getting at, but let's not say CP as a park has "practically zero themeing." 2 of their 3 kids areas are pretty heavily themed (I'd say about as much as NU), and the 3rd has a lite (albeit 70's) castle themeing. Two of the major areas of the park are themed, and are both beautifully done (Frontier Town and Frontier Trail, with the trail being much better done than Rivertown IMO). The new games area is aesthetically very pleasing, and several of the new rides are themed fairly well. In fact, the themeing on Disaster Transport (the poster child of CF theme fail) has been worked on this season, and much of the original on ride themeing is back under lights and looking good. We are part of Rivertown! Nick characters, heavily themed, on the edge of Nick U - hmmm, I wonder why people associate it with the kids area, could it be because it is part of the kids area. Also note the following quote from the KICentral timeline http://www.KICentral.com/history/timeline.php 2001: King’s Mill Log Flume, renovated and renamed as The Wild Thornberry’s, reopens as part of the new Nick Central area. Of course Scooby is part of I-Street, so you can't always let geographic location enter into the equation
CincyMan98
The thing I hate about the idea of Snoopy with the log flume is Peanuts isn't very "adventurous". It would be weird because of the theme of Charlie Brown - and maybe even Snoopy spitting on you (the elephant!!!) I really want it to go back to Rivertown. It goes along with the theme better; like White Water Canyon; plus, I can see the theme ahead of time and it will suck badly if it is Peanuts.
The Interpreter
But of course...because Snoopy is so boring and so poorly done at Cedar Point, Dorney Park, Knott's Berry Farm....NOT. Can you at least wait to see what Cedar Fair does before you announce it sucks?
CincyMan98
Well I'm mainly just talking about the log flume; I don't like the idea of Peanuts taking over that. I think the other rides will be very well done; just not the log flume. Do they come out with the names of the rides at the end of the 2009 season? CincyMan98
Yeah I was thinking that^ I always walk right from NU to Diamondback - and it seems weird - the theme is so off over there! So definitely change it back to Kings Mills Log Flume.

You are looking at my comment way too detailed. It was said, KI won a Golden Ticket for best kids area due to it's themeing. And I said, CP has not won the Golden Tickets for best park due to it's themeing- i.e. themeing has nothing to do with winning.
alluna
I think Snoopy on the flume would work well as a camping theme. There was that one Peanuts cartoon where they were doing a river race. One thing that would be great for theming is to run Peanuts cartoons on the monitors while everyone's waiting...which they'll probably do. I wonder if Reptar will be turned into a Red Baron kind of ride. At any rate, it will be fun to go over there and see what's new.

Well said IMO, i actually have a lot of faith in CF with the retheme of NU to PS. I will admit though, i will miss nick. The main reason for my faith is that it seems like ever since CF aquired PP, they have gotten better with theming (Disregarding The Crypt) its like they have a bit more of an emphasis on it now. Heck, they even signed a contract with the Dale Earnhardt company to use him in theming.
