KI FANATIC 37
Well I am new at this but what makes your KItrip good or Bad?? If I did this wrong, I apologize because this is one of my first polls. Not to come off rude.
The Interpreter
Friends, family, good times... As time goes by, you will more and more realize that your best Kings Island memories include people...oftentimes people who you no longer see often or cannot even see at all anymore... Kings Island is a mystical magical place...a special place...it isn't just rides and lines and food and employees...it is all that and much, much more. CincyMan98
Really long lines I hate, probably everyone does and short lines make my day!
Fear the Four
I really dislike long lines I can't stand them and rude guests are so annoying. I love going to Kings Island with my girlfriend so that's another reason I go.
Jasper
(Jasper Stands up and starts a slow clap for Terpy!) Kings Island is a place to go and have fun no matter what you are doing, some of my best days at Kings Island have been what you would call, bad days. Honestly though, there never is a bad day at Kings Island. It brings out the magic in your family and your friends. It is more than just a place for Enthusiasts like us. It is as Terpy stated, a magical place. Kings Island has some type of spell on it, whenever you go inside the park you are automatically transported into another world. A world where lines don't matter, food doesn't matter, all that matters is who your there with and the memories you make. That what I like most about Kings Island. Oh yeah, and the world class rides! Coney Islander
I might be the only one, but does anyone else like long lines? Long lines are a great place to get have a good conversation about Chinese Fruitcakes or the tiny 1 mm thick bible I found last week... beastfan11
My favorite thing about Kings Island? Sheesh. That's a toughy. I can't say that any physical thing at Kings Island is my favorite. Just the general park atmosphere, that's where it's at.I could honestly spend an entire day at the park walking around and riding the KI&MVRR. It's wonderful! I'm completely stress free. Not a care in the world. Magic can't even describe it. It's like a little slice of Heaven, with over priced food and games of course... Some of the best memories of my life have been there, most of which have nothing to do with rides. - Collin, who has been a member of these forums for a long time but never seems to post anything. Sometimes if I dont feel like riding rides I dont mind walking the midways or people watching.
The Interpreter
Yep, as opposed to my favorite park in New Jersey, which is much more of a theatre of the absurd...anything can and may happen at any given moment...and there, too, I have memories of the people I have spent many a happy hour with there, a few of which I can never do so again with, at least not during my time of mortal toil. TTD-120-420
Voted "other" for both questions. The only thing that can ruin a trip is rain. Waaa waaaa waaaa! The thing I like most about KI is that it has more of a beauty or romantic side to it, rather than CP's extreme side. Its nice to relax and look at the Eiffel Tower by the fountains with some one special. It is a very clean park. There is shade everywhere compared to concrete jungle at CP. It is a great park to go to and chill. Fireworks at the end of the night with sweet colored fountains make it one of my favorite things at any amusement park. Just a great park. CedarPointer
1. Long lines. Fo sho. 2. Walking out onto International Street and hearing the fountains and music and seeing the Eiffel Tower.
The Interpreter
Twas much better when the music was the orchestral, movie/easy listening variety, as opposed to the same stuff you can hear in any pizza joint in the USA...
CedarPointer
I never heard it when it was like that, but the music now is quite upbeat. Now, when I hear music from the shows outside of the park...
Beast1979
Kings Island can be counted as several things for me. My hang out place, my happy place, some would call it escapism, either way, the plain and simple fact is that for the most part whenever I'm at Kings Island, I'm happy. The lines could be streatched out the queues and I could be happy. The rides could all be closed and I could be happy. For me, Kings Island is a place I can go where I leave the worries and troubles of every day life at the gate. I can sit on the bench, watch the fountains and the tower, hear the roar of the coasters, watch a show, get an ice cream, ride a ride or two, and feel like I'm in my own little safe haven. I also have to agree that the best of trips are spent with friends. A year ago, I didn't know anyone from this site, and didn't think it mattered. I was contempt with a solitary park. But now, having met so many people here, and enjoyed so many days together, I feel as if it's incomplete to ride a ride with the seat next to me empty. It's good to hang out with people like you, people who understand you, people who by definition know you and your flaws and like you anyway, and can talk with and ride with and enjoy the park with. Kings Island for me is much more then a park. It's a place where I can feel safe and happy and can enjoy the company of good people, it's my happy place, my own 360 acres of peace, fun, and so much more. When i'm at Kings Island I couldn't care less about the length of the lines, quality/price of the food, etc. The good roller coasters and flat rides are nothing more than a pleasant bonus. What really makes my trips to Kings Island fun are the people I go with. Like, the last two times I have gone to Kings Island (Both were with a group of KIC'ers) my ride count for the day has been under ten rides, and I still had two days that I can honestly say were two of the best days of my summer. I'm not going to go into a huge spiel about this, but my friends are definitely what makes my trips to Kings Island worthwhile.
Dvo
part 1) Other... bouncing basketballs. part 2) Other... just the atmosphere, especially around this time of year, even more specifically last week. Crowds are dying down, the haunt is starting to ramp up, the air is a little cooler, but the rides are still rocking.
KIfan1980
So many people to agree with. Do things frustrate me about KI - yep, but I try to never let it ruin my day and it can't stop me from having fun. What makes my KI trip awesome/what's my favorite thing - no single answer cuts it for me, it all depends. I'll list some of my favorite items from this year: First Ride on Diamondback Opening Day Riding Flight Deck/AE/Racer/BLSC with my older son when he got his first 48" wrist band Going up the Eiffel Tower at night for the first time in years Seeing my younger son graduate from Little Bills to Fairly Odd Coaster Watching Shows on Dollar General Day First Delirium Ride ever Meeting up with KIC'ers People watching, ride watching, just relaxing at the park Waiting at the Detectors for Diamondback ERT and meeting/riding with some fun people Getting a picture of my Son and Parents coming down the drop on FOC Riding the train Skyflyer with pkiboy and beast1979 Midnight rides on Beast Watching the fireworks with both my kids The only things in common for all of these are the smile they put on my face (even typing them right now). I'm totally seconding this. i mean what 6 rides the last time i went?! and it was epic! lol i mean yeah RWW and hitting everything multiple times is great, but then you go with a good group of friends and it just rocks! I mean, I've been around here a few years, and this is the first time i've seen ppl go out of their way to try to meet up. I mean yeah there were always those few friends, but that was normally b/c they were friends outside this. Heck I wouldn't even be here if it weren't for knowing Dane and Brad (Uncle Henry) outside of the site. I truly think its absolutely amazing to go with great friends, whether it be with only a few or a big 22 DB train of us! its always a great time! VortexJunkie
Just being at KI means I'll have a good day. So long lines make it less fun and short lines make it awesome! Rude people can ruin your fun if you let them, but I've learned to just ignore them. I'll let rude people get to me when they cut me off on the highway, but at KI I'll NEVER let them ruin my fun again. Another thing that can take way some of the fun is being brought back to reality. Like when they're playing football on the TV's in Festhaus. Seemed like I was eating in a sports bar. But even if there were no lines, no basketballs bouncing, no rude people, no line jumpers, no screaming children, no rides down, and no rain... still wouldn't be any fun without someone to share the memories with you. Ok that sounded cheesey.. short lines rock
