The Interpreter Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Summer was made for a Cedar Point day! Is that where the company that counts their flags came up with the idea of saying "And have a Six Flags day here at Kentucky Kingdom" I very much doubt it. Parks have been saying things like that since there have been parks! Quote
maverick2007 Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 The last time I went to CP (October 11 before any of this news materialized) I decided to randomly take the time and take a good deal of pictures of Demon Drop. I don't know why I did it as Ive been to CP many times with my camera but I just decided I might as well. Imagine my surprise when I heard DD is leaving. I will post my pics of DD soon but I'm saving the TR (I pre-typed it) until the off-season when everyone needs a little bit of CP. Quote
Beast1979 Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 LOVE IT No shame on that one I suppose? Quote
DaveStroem Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 I spoke briefly with Tony yesterday. He said that DD would start coming down Monday Nov 2. To me this seems like there is a need to clear out the space. I mentioned that I would love to see a GCI in this spot and he responded with a "you never know". We all agreed that CP needs another good wood coasters. BTW I am referring to Blue Streak and not Pain the Ride at the tip of the peninsula. Quote

Or maybe that Knotts wants to start construction as early as possible? I highly doubt we'll see anything new in the space for 2010. Quote
Beast1979 Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 But if you plan on using that space in 2011, you'd think you'd want a pretty clear slate of land to start out with in 2010. I agree with Dave, it looks like they definitely plan on using that area in 2011, but the "You never know" is a standard response he would have given to anything. Quote
Diamondback FOF Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 I remember back before Shoot the Rapids was announced, there was a rumor on Screamscape that the proposed GCI coaster for California's Great America that was canceled could possibly come to Cedar Point instead. I doubt it, but it's possible. Quote

Much like Don Helbig and rumors about Flight Commander's queue on RWW. Quote
Diamondback96 Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 So who did get to go to CP and ride this one last time? Quote
Coney Islander Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 ^ Did not... but there is a good chance I will be going to Knott's next year! I have never been farther west than Illinois, so this is a big trip for me! Quote
gigacoaster2k Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 So who did get to go to CP and ride this one last time? Tom76257 and I both did yesterday around 12:45 pm. Quote
PKIVortex Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 I rode Demon Drop last Sunday, October 25th. Quote
PhantomTheater Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 I got Two rides on DD yesterday, and then watched it run for the final time at about 8:40pm. The final riders were Dick Kinzel and Bill Sphen. Quote
maverick2007 Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 I got dropped for the last time on September 7th. Quote
CincyMan98 Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 I'm mad because I never got a chance to ride it. I want to go to Cedar Point so badly, but here goes one ride. Of course, it's not that big of a deal for me, as long as it goes somewhere else! Quote

The Interpreter Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Perhaps he was getting in practice for the demonic drop the units were to take today... Quote
faeriewench Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Didn't see this posted yet, but thought it was interestin http://www.screamscape.com/html/industry_news.htm#CedarFair Cedar Fair - (11/23/09) While it has yet to be confirmed that Knott’s is no longer getting Demon Drop from Cedar Point, it technically was never 100% confirmed by the park that it was coming in the first place. That said… the hunt is on to find a new location for the ride. While a few others have poped up as hearing rumors that the ride may come to their ride, in most cases the same reasons as to why it was a bad fit at Knott’s also apply to many of the other Cedar Fair parks. Take Dorney Park for example… where the park not only has a superior S&S Drop Tower ride already in place, but they also share the same market with Six Flags Great Adventure who also installed an identical ride in the early ‘80s that thrilled people for over twenty years before being removed. That said, I’ve come up with a very short list of suitable parks in the chain where Demon Drop would make the most sense: Michigan’s Adventure, Canada’s Wonderland and Worlds of Fun. (Note: While WOF has Detonator, it only has S&S Space Shots, not Turbo Drops). Time will tell where the ride ends up. Quote
Coney Islander Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Kings Island? Naa, but I would LOVE if Demon Drop were a future addition to Kings Island. Quote
TheSonofBeast Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 im pretty sure Kings Island is LAST on the list to get demon drop. We have Drop Tower, which is FAR superior, at least in terms of public perception and many other factors, that is... I mean it is the tallest Gyro Drop in the world... Quote
Coney Islander Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 It would be a great addition for me, though. I love Demon Drop. // What about Michigan's Adventure? They don't have any drop ride... Quote
Go Browns Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Whether Knott's wants it or not, its coming down. Quote
maverick2007 Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 // What about Michigan's Adventure? They don't have any drop ride... I think it would be great for MA. They have space either past ST or TH and it would be a major new ride they could push. Quote
goofywdw Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Looks like Demon Drop is actually heading over to Dorney Park instead of Knotts. I saw a thread over at coastercrazy.com. Someone posted some pictures but I couldn't really see anything. Quote
Coaster Kid Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Back to topic I cant belive it from one side of a country to another. Quote
Phantom Theater Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 News Plus Notes has some pics of what could be Demon Drop, http://newsplusnotes.blogspot.com/ Its the first entry. Quote
