For All You Parents Who Say Your Kids Don't Know Peanuts

Featured Replies

For all you parents who say your kids don't know the Peanuts gang, get them in front of the TV tonight! As I said in this post last month, we're coming up on prime Peanuts viewing season, and it all starts tonight! At 8:00 ABC is airing the wonderful "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown", followed by (the less stellar) "You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown".

"Great Pumpkin" (without "Elected") also airs on ABC tomorrow at 8:00 if you don't get a chance to see it tonight. Yes, I know it's on against the "Monsters vs. Aliens" Halloween special tomorrow, but NBC is re-airing the MvA special at 8:30, immediately after the first time they show it. <img src="http://www.KICentral.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="blink.gif" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

GatorGirl is excited about watching it tonight. We watch all the Peanuts specials whenever they're on.

I put this in the Kings Island forum rather than the Multimedia one because I'm trying to help those parents who's kids will see Snoopy and the gang at KI next year.

I used to feel so sorry for Charlie Brown when everyone gave him rocks when the gang went trick or treating.

It just started, and I heard my mom in the living room say "YUCK! Charley Brown, how dumb!"

I forgot about it. I turned it on about 10 minutes before it was over. The part where Lucy takes Linus out of the cold and puts him to bed shows a surprising, affectionate side to her character.

Reminds me of why I'm excited for Snoopy to come. The show is just so much better then almost all of the Nick garbage out there, plots are better, charecters are better, and it's so much more age appropriate! Peanuts is one of those shows that practically everyone can sit down and enjoy, while Nick is aimed at only a specific audiance, and even then it's pretty vulgar for that. Every time I hear Lucy call Linus a "Blockhead" I think to myself, "What would Nick have said?" and then asked, "Were they allowed to say that back then?"

Now the parents have no excuse when they say "My kids have never seen Peanuts!" April, 2010, baby!

Wow. Everything there was perfectly said. Kudos Jackson. Epic pwnage.

I admit, technically that that would solve THAT problem...but then there is always the "But my kids don't LIKE The Peanuts" hurdle. ;)

Unfortunately, my kids missed it this year. I was in class until 10pm <_<

For those parents: when have you given your kids the opportunity to actually see/ read Peanuts?

It's on again at 8 pm tomorrow. If you can't make it then, record it. If all else fails, YouTube it!

lol I thought the same thing.

Yeah, I'll be in class again...If I don't forget, I'll tell my Mom to DVR it.

I honestly had no clue who the penuts where, until I got cast as Linus in "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown" at my school.

Believe me...I HAVE tried to enlighten my nephews on The Peanuts...to no avail...i'm beginning to think that this is what it would take:

It's that time again... the second of the five holiday Peanuts specials, "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving", airs tomorrow at 8:00 on ABC. I love this one, in which Snoopy fights with a lawn chair and sets the table faster than anyone else ever could, then he plays the chef and fixes the gang popcorn, pretzels, jelly beans and toast for dinner, and Peppermint Patty goes off on Chuck for not having turkey and all the fixings (after she invites herself over and brings all the other guests). OK, so this special always loses me a little when Linus does his Myles Standish monologue, but other than that it's great. It's paired with another Peanuts show, "The Mayflower Voyagers", in which the Peanuts gang reinact coming over on the Mayflower.

Why they show this on Thanksgiving and not on some other less busy night, I have no idea. But I'll be recording it so we can watch it later!

No offense, but are you kidding? You think it takes pulling teeth to get little kids to watch a cartoon?

-Jackson, this is getting extremely ridiculous......

^Malcolm is NOT at the dentist...look closer...or go rent "A Clockwork Orange"! ;)

I know, I was using the term pulling teeth, not as a reference to that, disturbing image.

And for all of you who still say their kids don't know Snoopy, the Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade is on. Snoopy is included in the lineup.

Do kids have to be forced to watch Spongebob? Just saying... (and, just for the record, I think Spongebob is terrible :) )

Getting?

It's been ridiculous.

I can not stand that laughter I turn the channel right when it gets on.

May I ask why you thing Spongebob is "terrible"? I think 'terrible' is a very strong word, kind of like 'hate'. You could say... "I think Spongebob is not very good", or "I don't enjoy it". But please don't use terrible. A good example of something terrible is 9/11, or people dying left and right in the war... I'll stop there before I get on a soap box.

"A Boy Named Charlie Brown" is on right now on ABC

Only in the Cincinatti area, though. I don't get it locally here in Indiana.
