bkroz Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 I know there's differing opinions on whether or not there'll even BE an Action Theater come 2010, but if there were, which film would you like to see? Here's a link to the Iwerks film library for their 3-D films to browse through, just to get ideas. Of course, depending on the status with Hannah-Barbera, there's always "Yogi's Wild Ride" (didn't the Action Theater have that at one point, before it went to Universal?) but I'd be happy with a return to "7th Portal", too... There should be action in the Action Theater! There's also plenty of 2D movies that would be fun, like "Smash Factory," and I know "Dino Island II" was a hit at Geauga Lake (and clearly not hard to install if they brought it to Geauga Lake). I know others may disagree, but I feel like the Action Theater is one of the few true family attractions, is easy to renovate, and counts as a marketable "new ride." They can plaster the new movie's logo over every brochure and say "NEW FOR 2010," and that's something they need! And it's easy enough to do, so... Quote
Guest TombraiderTy Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 ^The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera was added in 2006, after Universal had replaced theirs with a Jimmy Neutron attraction. I haven't browsed through the library yet, but some of the ones that have already played in Action Theater I wouldn't mind seeing again are Meteorite Attack, Secrets of the Lost Temple, and, of course, The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera. I personally didn't care for 7th Portal or the few FearFest ones (Elvira's Superstition, Dracula's Haunted Castle, and Funhouse Express). Quote
rotag Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 a return to phantom theater in 3-d would be nice, even that in 2-d would be ok with me.but i see that building going nowhere since the haunt attraction Urgent Scare takes up half of the building. Quote
goofywdw Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 I remember at Six Flags Great Adventure they had a movie about little aliens that went to space? I don't remember it very much but that would be a possibility. 1 Quote
CedarPointer Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 I'd love to see the return of Smash Factory. I don't think CF realizes that the only reason Action Theater has low attendance is because they haven't changed the movie in years. 1 Quote
TylerRider Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 I say Journey to the Center of the Earth! Quote
Cody Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 When KI had 7th portal it wasn't all that good. I personally wanna see Smash Factory back =] Days Of Thunder was awesome when it was in. Quote
Guest TombraiderTy Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 Saying none of us expect it to be open in 2010, how about Cedar Fair hires Iwerks to program the movement of the seats to a POV of Son of Beast? Quote
Dvo Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 ^^I actually really enjoyed 7th Portal. I'd really love to see some sort of haunted-house themed movie or something, however. Quote
CedarPointer Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 I've seen 7th Portal. I think it's a heck of a lot better than SB3D, but, then again, almost every movie is. Quote
rotag Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 SB3D was good when it first came out, it just lost its luster over time is all. Quote
CedarPointer Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 SB3D was good when it first came out, it just lost its luster over time is all. It's okay, but it gets really annoying. "OMG! A PICKLE! OMG! IT BOUNCED AWAY!! ROCK-BOTTOM! PLANKTON?!?! HAHAHA! YOU MEAN YOU DIDN'T WANT A PICKLE? HAHAHA! *gore*" Quote
maverick2007 Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 I think Comet Impact looks awesome although I wouldn't mind any of them except for the "coaster" ones. Quote
CedarPointer Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 I would scream if they installed the Dora movie. Quote
maverick2007 Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 Of joy? Anticipation? As for me, I'd scream with fear. Dora scares me! Quote
RollerNut Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 Geauga Lake had one and CFEC did change the video atleast once, as to popular, IDK. However, DOT did not generate the waiting line that it did back in the 90s. I would much rather see AFX taken out or some other ride than what is there. Quote
rotag Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 i dont, think well, have to worry bout dora, since she got the boot too Quote
Hank Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 Too bad Disney wouldn't let CF borrow Magic Journeys. Quote
Scooby_Doo Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 I liked Bond 007, Days of Thunder and 7th Portal heck, I liked Spongebob 3D it was nice. I didn't like Smash Factory I hated it made me kinda green if you know what I mean... I wish they would get The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera and play it that ride is pure awesome. Quote
Coney Islander Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 I don't understand why Kings Island doesn't just buy two films, to play alternately. This would boost Action Theater's attendance quite a bit, especially if KI were to show one "Kiddie" movie and one "Adult" movie. Wider age group= more ridership. Quote
KIMonster14 Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 They should do 2 new movies every month Quote
ahank Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 ^ I can see that getting quite pricey though. Maybe I'm wrong, but I can't imagine getting two new movies every month in there. Quote
thatbandguy8807 Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 I may be wrong but also with muliple movies wouldn't you have to reprogram the seats each time when the movie is being swithed? All I do know is I'm happy for a change from sponge bob if they do reopen action theater next season Quote
The Interpreter Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Yes, indeed, reprogramming would have to occur each time. Two movies a month? In a park that relatively few of the visitors visit even once each month? And where those who do are typically not the ones who contribute most greatly to park profits by spending heavily while in the park? Why would they ever run two different movies a month in Action Theater? They are more likely to remove the attraction than to do that... Quote
kjkjkj Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 7th Portal was really cool when it used to run in Action Theater. It would be nice for it to make a return. I don't care what movie they pick though, I just don't want AT to be closed. 1 Quote
Tomkatt7 Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 I think AT is considered a 4D experience. There are only a handful of movies that are 4D. I would like one of the nature flicks. One about dolphins, and another about penguins. Those would be cool. You could theme it like an animal adventure! Well, if they ever decided to such a crazy thing like themeing again. Quote
KIBOB Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Somehow, I have a feeling that the replacement movie will either be something based on an extreme roller coaster simulator, or no movie at all. I would like to see a new movie in AT, even though that fading building is blocking part of the future ride frontier. 1 Quote
Vortex Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 The only thing behind the AT building is The Beast. Some how I don't see Kings Island taking out the frist part of The Beast at this time. 1 Quote
KIBOB Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 The only thing behind the AT building is The Beast. Some how I don't see Kings Island taking out the frist part of The Beast at this time. The Beast runs right behind AT? Quote
